Star's POV
Katherine was helping my mom in the kitchen, while I got out the dessert. I put the pies on the table, as soon as us girls sat down, my mom was still standing.
"Before we eat, I just wanted to say something to Star," she said. There was tears forming in her eyes.
"Star, you are...adopted and your parents are helping you with your powers. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier, are you mad?" I looked at Steve and Angel, they looked at me with small smiles on there faces. "Wow! Thanks for telling me, but, why did you let me go?"
Angel's face went blank. "Well! It was so nice of you Ellen to let us see our daughter, but, I'm afraid that my wife and I have to go. We will see you all tomorrow," Steve said taking Angel with him.
The front door opened and shut.I went upstairs to my room, and I closed my door. I walked over to my window. I looked at my floor, I found my yellow notebook and my black pen. I opened the notebook and wrote what I could remember. When I drew the symbol, I drew it on a bigger piece of paper. I marked it vampire, and I taped it to my wall.
I still wanted more information about my parents, but why are they helping me with my powers? I closed my notebook and threw it back onto the floor. I looked out my window. I seen glowing eyes with the sparks in them. "Goodnight Katherine," I said under my breathe.
My alarm woke me up at five thirty-two this morning. I rolled out of my bed, I stopped in mid-air. When I opened my eyes, I was floating! I wasn't even touching the ground, then all of a sudden, thunder struck, which scared me and I fell on the ground.
Stupid thunder! I thought. I seen my notebook under my bed. From now on, I'm going to write down the freaky stuff that happens.
When I was done writing, I put my notebook back under my bed. I looked out the window, it was foggy and everything was wet. Today is going to be an ugly day.
I picked up my phone. I had a text from Jacob saying that I'm not going to be training today.
I stayed in my room. My mom...adoptive...mom? Anyways she kept on checking on me to see if I was okay. I jumped when thunder struck, I also jumped to my door opening. But it was only Jacob, he was wearing shorts, shoes and a hoodie with the sleeves ripped off. His hair was barely wet.
"Get dressed," Jacob said. I didn't question him. I changed really quickly into a pair of blue jeans, shoes, a tank top, and a zip-up jacket. "You ready Star!" Jacob called from downstairs.
I grabbed my phone and sped out of my room. Jacob put his arm out to stop me when I got to the bottom of the stairs. I looked around, no one was there. "What's wrong?" I said. "I just didn't want you to ram into the door," he said facing the door. I rolled my eyes. "Where are we going?" "Surprise," he said opening the door for me.
We walked down the street. Jacob kept trying to push me into puddles of water, but I hopped over them. "So, this surprise," I said glancing at my feet, "Is it a good one?" Jacob laughed, "You'll see."
Jacob put his hand on my back when we walked into the gas station. There was no one behind the counter, the store looked dead. "Stay close to me, and don't make eye contact," Jacob said stopping infront of a door.
Jacob knocked on the door, a few minutes later, the door opened. Alex was standing in the doorway, he was wearing a red t-shirt, and jean shorts. Alex looked at Jacob then at me. "Don't look worried or scared, they'll think that you're a human," Alex said letting us in and he closed the door behind us.
Jacob still had his hand on my back, which made me feel better. As we walked into the room, there was a huge party going on. Everyone was either dancing, making out with each other or drinking at the bar. We walked to the back, there was a big muscular guy standing guard of a wall. The guy nodded at us, then he kicked the wall and it opened.
When we got to the other side of the wall, there was a desk, behind it was a chair, which was facing a bunch of computers. "What did I say about humans," a girl voice said. "Take another look," Alex said. The chair turned to face us. There was a woman in the chair. From afar, it looked like she was wearing a blue pantsuit, her hair was in a bun, her were gray.
"Come closer," she said. Jacob and I walked to the middle of the room. The woman got up from her chair and walked towards us. She looked me up and down. "So this is the girl who gave you a black eye," she said. "Yes ma'am," Jacob said. "This is Audrey, she's a vampire, we call her our mother," Alex said.
Audrey put her hand out in front of me, her nails were long, they were painted blue. I felt Jacob move his hand off my back. I put my hand on Audrey's.
"I will protect you."
I jerked my hand back, and looked at her. "When did you start seeing the future," Audrey said coming closer to me. I shrugged my shoulder's. "Jacob child, take Star to the spare room," Audrey said. "Yes mother," Jacob said.
Jacob took me down a long hallway, there was a bunch of doors on each side of us. There were no signs on the doors, How do you know which one is which? I thought. "Practice," Jacob said. "You can hear me?" "We all can."
We stopped at the end of the hallway, Jacob pointed to the door that was on the left of us. When I opened the door, there was a bookshelf with books, along with painting supplies. A queen-sized bed, a bathroom, and a walk-in closet. There were no windows, but the room was very bright with the lamp on and it was reflecting in the mirror that was across from the bed.
I walked to the bed and looked at it. "Am I going to be living here?" I said. "You'll be staying here for only a week to train your vampire side." I looked at him. "You have more sides to you Star, not just the vampire and wolf side. You'll be going to different places around town to train you sides. It won't be easy, but, you'll learn fast," Jacob said going to the closet. He walked out with an all black suit, along with combat boots, and he walked over and placed the suit on the bed, and put the boots next to the bed. Then he walked towards the door, he stopped and looked at me.
"Get dressed and go back to Audrey's desk." He left the room and closed the door behind him.
I looked at the suit on the bed, it looked small. When I touched the suit, my clothes were on the bed. I am not going going to get used to this, I thought. I went to bend down to grab the combat boots, as soon as I touched them, they instantly appeared on my feet. I stood up straight and walked towards the mirror. I looked at myself in the suit, it looked tight on me but it wasn't.
I heard someone whistle, I looked at my door, it was open. I sped down the hallway to get to Audrey's desk. There was a lot more people. They all watched as two people fought each other. I heard the whistle again, I watched as the two fighters stopped.
I seen Audrey out of the corner of my left eye.
"Thank you children," Audrey said. The two fighters bowed and went to the sides by the others. "We have a very special vampire here with us. Her name is Star, be nice to her, she is still learning. Now, is there anyone who would want to fight Star?"
I looked around, everyone was murmuring. "I'll fight her mother," a voice said. "Come my child."
I seen Jacob go to the middle of the room. Audrey looked at me, she nodded her head.
I sped towards the middle to face Jacob. He was in a suit just like mine, but his was blue.
I heard the whistle. Jacob threw a punch, but I blocked it with my right hand. I grabbed his wrist and kicked him in the side with my right foot. I ducked, blocked, kicked, and punched Jacob so many times. He didn't even hit me once. I knocked him to the ground a couple of times. The third time, I got him on the floor, I was about to punch him in the face, but he rolled away and my fist landed on the ground so hard that I felt a shock go up my arm and I screamed. The whistle blew. I laid on the floor in pain.
"Mother!" Jacob said. Audrey came by my side along with Alex.
"That's all the training for today, dismissed!" Audrey said. In about two seconds everyone was gone. "Mother can you fix her arm?" Alex said.
Audrey gently touched my left arm, she barely squeezed my arm. When she squeezed a little hard, I hissed at her. "I'm not sure if you injured anything, but your arm might be bruised," Audrey said.
Ellen's POV
It's been an hour since Star left with Jacob. Cece was in the living room watching television, and I was doing the laundry. I took the laundry basket with me upstairs. I went into Star's room to get her laundry. When I sat the basket on her bed, I felt something touch my foot. I went on my knees and I felt under Star's bed, I grabbed the object that was touching me. It was Star's yellow notebook. I didn't read what she wrote, but I did look at the drawings, or, symbols. I jumped when I heard thunder, I closed up the notebook and I put it back under Star's bed. When I got off the ground, I grabbed the laundry basket, and the clothes that were on the floor in the closet and went downstairs.
Star's POV
I was in the spare room sitting on the bed, holding my left arm. Audrey came into the room, she looked at me.
"Come with me," Audrey said leaving the room. I sped after her. Everyone was there. Audrey went to the middle. The whistle blew and Audrey sped at me. I sped to the middle of the room.
"You've had a rough life Star." I looked at Audrey, "You don't know me." She came at me again but I blocked her. "Actually, I do." I kicked her in to the crowd.
"I knew your father." I shed a tear. She snapped her fingers and everyone was gone. "Your father lied to me Star, he said that his wife was dead." "My father left us!"
Audrey came closer to me, "I know Star, I want to help you." "How?" "Bring him in!"
I heard chains behind me, when I turned around, a man was faced down on the ground. Audrey walked past me and stood closer to the man. The two guards lifted the man up off the ground. The man looked at me, I couldn't believe my eyes. The guards unchained him, and he fell back to the floor.
I looked at Audrey. "I know that he hurt you, he hurt me too," Audrey said.
The man got up off the ground, he was laughing. "Long time no see," he said. "Shut the hell up," I said. "Now is that any way to talk to your father?" I looked at him, "Yes!" I sped at him and punched him in his chest, he flew across the room, his back hit the wall and he fell.
He looked up at me, "Your stronger." "Damn straight." I sped at him again. I punched him in the face a bunch of times. I was surprised that he didn't fight back. I was going to punch him again but a hand touched my arm.
"That's enough Star!" Audrey said. I looked at...my father laying there on the floor bleeding. I shook off the hand that was touching me, and I sped to the spare room and closed the door behind me.
I had tears rolling down my face. "Star," Jacob said. I turned around and opened the door.
Jacob was standing there, he was wearing his gray sweatpants and a black t-shirt.
"What's wrong," Jacob said coming towards me.
I was about to say something but Jacob put his left hand on my right cheek. I chuckled, "Your hand is cold." He smiled, "Your face is cold."
Looking into Jacob's eyes, I didn't see a soul in him. But I knew that he liked me. I would always catch him staring at me. As soon as I looked at him, he looked away.
Jacob took his hand away from my face. "You should get some rest," he said walking backwards to the room across from mine.
I closed the door. I sped into the closet and I sped back out. I was wearing a blue shirt and shorts. I looked at the bed and crawled on to it, I didn't cover up, I just laid there.
I heard the door open. I sat up in the bed. Jacob looked at me when I sat up, "Did I wake you?" he said. I shook my head no.
Jacob closed my door and climbed in to the bed. "If your here to check on me..." "I'm not," he said interrupting me. I looked at him in confusion. "Audrey told me what happened." I didn't say anything. "I'm sorry I brought you here." "Don't be sorry. I like it here." "Then, why were you crying?" Jacob said putting his hand on my knee.
"Today, was the first time in years seeing my dad again," I said.
Tears were coming down my face. Jacob wrapped his arms around me. I cried in to his shirt, he moved his right hand up and down my back. I tried to keep my eyes open but I couldn't.
The next day, was learning about vampires. Audrey made me take so many notes. My hand cramped. When I was done with the motes, it was already the end of the day.
