"So... from how long you two are in this profession?" Kwan tossed an inquiry towards Yeon and Suho, taking a deep sip on a glassful chilled beer. All three of them were spending some quality time in the restaurant, having drinks together after they finished devouring the grilled meat. Gulping down some beer, they tried to hold on to a cordial conversation.
"Profession?" Suho furrowed his eyebrow ridge, peeking at him curiously.
"I mean," Kwan lowered his voice and whispered closer to them leaning his head a bit down. "How long you both have been residing here as grim reapers? It's of course your profession, isn't it?"
Yeon took a large sip from the glassful beer and wiped his mouth with a tissue placed near him. "It's been a long time for me. More than...300 years." His deep voice sounded a little rugged.
"300 years?" Kwan was almost about to shriek out in awe but held his tone inside and took out a heavy breath in a puff. "You are here for 300 years? Woah! I didn't expect you to be this old... I mean...look at your appearance, you can easily fool anyone with your charm."
"We actually don't age in the first place. I won't deny your assertion, Reaper 999 is indeed very handsome." Suho followed after him, replying to him in a soft note.
With the completion of his words, Dae took a slight glimpse at Yeon while gulping down some beer. Indeed among all the men present right there, he had an unusual aura of attractive charm lingering around him. He was just simply resting next to him but even in that posture, he seemed like an extraordinarily elegant man in his early 30's.
"But why do you call him Reaper 999? Is this any secret name code you all are assigned with?" His tone sounded still much curious.
"We aren't assigned with any names. Based on how long we have been offering our duties, we are known by a code. As... he has been residing here for a long time so he is known by 999. As number 9 depicts closer proximity to God or divinity." On his behalf, Suho was answering him spontaneously, gulping down some beer.
Immediately Dae shifted his head towards Yeon and furrowed his eyebrow ridge. "So it means, you are the closest one to God?"
"It's just a reference term used among us. No need to think of it any serious. I am not closer to anyone." With his usual cold resonance, he answered him back.
Having 3 large glassful drinks of booze, Kwan was feeling a bit dizzy. He stopped drinking further and shoved the beer glass aside from him on the table, glancing at Yeon with a cryptic stare. "Woah, I can't believe... I am watching such a handsome immortal having drinks with me. Till now I only believed that such kinds of things only existed in movies but I guess, there are many mysterious events still existing in the world." He was blabbering nonchalantly, looking a bit flustered.
Quietly, Yeon shifted his gaze sideways at Dae Hyuk who seemed to be constantly taking drinks hereafter. He frowned his eyebrows and whisper shouted at him, "hey, don't drink too much. You were already quite drunk last night. I don't want to cause you any further trouble today."
"Ahh, your nagging really pesters me so much. I am drinking today based on my tolerance, don't bother about me." He sulked his face, replying in a vexed tone.
"And your unnecessary impudence annoys me too." Both of them were again attempting to start bickering out of nowhere.
"Please don't start arguing again." Kwan interrupted their conversation trying to avoid any kind of quarrel. He gulped down some water to get a hold of his dizziness and raised his face towards Yeon. "Well, Mr. Reaper... so Yeon is your real name? Did you allow Dae Hyuk to call you by your name?"
"No." His voice sounded cold as ice as he gripped the glass of beer to chug down some. "I didn't allow him anything. It's his impudent habit from the very first day of our meet to pester me in every possible means. He himself started calling me with that name."
"Yes because I found Reaper 999 as a weird name to call with him. What's wrong with that? I find it comfortable to call him by his identity." He snapped at him back, trying to infer his point.
"Mr. Reaper, you have stayed here for almost 300 years. How long do you have to stay here?" Kwan resembled to be packed up with several queries.
"It won't be much longer I guess." Suho infringed on his question and answered him straight with a frown face. "Soon enough, he will be done with the fulfillment of his duties and he will descend back to heaven."
"Back to heaven?" He rolled his eyes mystically wider and gawked at him intensely for a moment. "It means, you will move back to the divine realm from the human world?"
For a while, Yeon stayed all still without uttering any single word. He lowered his grimace down and responded to him with a small smirk, "everything has to go back to the point from it starts... I won't have any duty to fulfill here so I will be sent back to heaven." His voice reverberated deeper as an echo.
"So it means, we won't be able to meet like this?" Clenching the glass of water harder, he queried him quite inquisitively.
"Another sad fate of us is that... we won't be reincarnated again like you humans do... Once we are gone, it will be our terminal cessation." Suho answered him in a profound glum voice, sighing a bit heavily.
Dae Hyuk was listening to their ongoing conversation holding a grimacing expression on his face. Somehow he seemed very bothered with it and all of a sudden, he slammed the table hard with his right arm, surprising everyone at the restaurant. Suddenly he stood up from his seat and grumbled aloud, "that's it!"
Yeon seemed very stunned with his absurd reaction and whisper shouted at him, "what's wrong with you now?"
