Chapter 9 - The Blind Date

"I was also shocked when I learned earlier from Cliff that I had a date. He said I agreed to it about a week ago but I didn't recall it. I bet I was absentminded when I agreed to go on the date," Stephanie explained.

"I am sure you were fantasying your reunion with your childhood sweetheart," Gabrielle joked. "Girl, as you go on this date, don't only let your body be present there but your heart also. Give whosoever this guy is the chance, hmmm," Gabrielle said persuasively. Although they haven't been friends for long, she knew how Stephanie always react when it comes to dating. For half of her life she has lived for only one boy. A boy whom she doesn't even know whether he feels the same way for her. The most crazy thing is that she doesn't even know whether the boy even exists. She has been longing to meet him like a crazy person.

"You know I can't tell my heart what to do but I will try my best not to come to a conclusion immediately. I have promised Cliff that I will forget everything about him and this is my first test to see whether I can really do it, so I will make sure I don't fail him again this time around. Let's meet up tomorrow in the company. Everyone has missed you," Stephanie said with all seriousness. Her tone shows that she meant every word she had just uttered.

"I am glad that you are finally giving yourself the opportunity to be happy and I will definitely meet you there. I want to see how far you have gone on your preparation for the launching of your new cosmetics. Good luck girl. On this date, don't forget what I have always told you. Dress to kill," Gabrielle said, smiling mischievously.

"I will have to fail you this time around. I am almost late for my date so I don't have the luxury to go about finding the perfect dress but don't worry, the dress I chose is similar to what you want me to wear. His mouth will drop open by mere staring at me, I can assure you that. Take care girl," Stephanie said before she hung up the call. She hurriedly dressed up but she made sure she looked her best before she left her apartment. She climbed into her white sport car, fastened her seatbelt and zoomed off immediately.

She was so happy because the venue of her blind date was just a ten minutes ride, so she did not arrive late like she had assumed. Parking her car beside the restaurant building, she gracefully stepped out of her car and walked majestically into the high class restaurant. From the interior design of the restaurant she knew that the guy whom she was meeting was also another rich heir. All the ones she had ditched out on were also rich heir from influential families. In fact since her brother was a CEO himself, all his friends were either CEOs or those with important positions in their workplaces. The restaurant looked pretty and classic. The owner of the restaurant must have spent a fortune to achieve the sparkling and exquisite look she was seeing.

Halfway through the stairs, Stephanie heard a name she has been longing to hear for a long time.

"Young Master V, your car is parked a few distance from here, please let me show you the way," Her sharp ears grabbed every words a man tailing a tall guy said.

"Young Master V," the words rang in Stephanie's ears. Immediately she turned around to see who was talking they were already at the door. Stephanie instantly followed in hopes that she will caught up to them. When she got outside she did not see any sign of them, it was as if they have vanished. The once excited Stephanie was sad since she couldn't have a glimpse at the two guys face. While searching for them she completely forgot about her date and when she did she reluctantly hurried inside. As she entered the restaurant again, she tried her possible best not to look sad.

With the assistance of the waitress, she was able to locate the exact VVIP room she was looking for. When she entered the large VVIP room, she saw a handsome guy wearing a white suit checking his wristwatch impatiently.

"You are Clark Williams, right?" Stephanie asked politely to make sure he was the right person. The guy sullen mood brightened when he saw the glowing face of the most beautiful woman he has ever seen smiles at him. For a feel minutes, he was stunned. He couldn't reply immediately due to how mesmerized he was by her beauty. He quickly snapped out of his daze when he saw her giving him a questioning gaze.

"Yes I am and you are Stephanie Woods, right?" Clark asked standing up. He walked to where she was standing and offered her a handshake.

"Yeah, you are right. I am so damn sorry for keeping you waiting. I got stuck on traffic. I am sorry I almost missed our date," Stephanie apologised as she shook his hands. Nobody would have guessed she was lying because of how apologetic she looked.

"It's alright. Seeing you now, I don't regret waiting for you despite the possibility that you wouldn't have showed up," Clark said smiling at her. Stephanie had seen this way too often, so she didn't find his words or behavior weird. There is no guy who set his eyes on her who will not fall in love at first sight with her. Stephanie just smile at him without uttering a word.

After placing their orders they talked about themselves. Stephanie did not talk much, Clark did most of the talking. From the way he talked and treated her even though they have just met about thirty minutes ago, Stephanie knew that he was a nice guy. It was just so unfortunate that she has given her heart to only one boy or else she would have fallen madly in love with him. His sense of humour really made Stephanie doubt whether he was really a CEO because all the CEOs she has met were cold and uncaring but Clark was an exception.

Seeing how happy he was, Stephanie did not have the heart to reject him when he suggested they went for a walk. They took a walk around but despite the fact that she spent extra time with him, Clark was still reluctant to let her go.

"Miss Woods, it's today I know that pictures can lie. Despite the fact that Cliff showed me several of your pictures, the truth is I found it hard to recognize you the moment you stepped foot into the VVIP room," Clark said beaming a smile at her.

"Do you mean that I am ugly compare to the pictures you saw?" Stephanie asked playfully as she cupped her face. She knew that wasn't what he meant but she couldn't resist to tease him when she saw how he couldn't take his eyes off her.

"What!" Clark exclaimed in shock.
