Chapter 23 - SkyIsland Adventures (Flashback)

The floating islands we are to go will be an easy journey that was for sure. Everyone thought that traveling in these islands was easier than traveling in the forest filled with giants. Certainly it wasn't. They managed to get passed through the first floating island which was filled with scorpions. They left unscathed which made them even more confident about no problems will go in their way. In the First Island they had found an Artifact. It was a powder. It reeks of bad odor and sharp. It was a poison created with the scorpions. It was an A-Tier kind of poison that is hard to come across with. They took it in inside the Inventory Scroll of Matthew. Who could've known that the first island had something valuable. The scorpions were deadly but big at the same time. They were easy targets that can be easily annihilated.

They were on their second one and found something odd about the place. Matthew, April, and Ethaniel had felt strong presences from the entrance. It was as if there were things in the shadows. They continued to walk and walk not minding the presences. Alexander was sharp on artifacts and always pays attention. He found the Powder and an ancient stone with ancient scriptures. Alexander was looking around as he saw this sparkling object. Alexander was curious and so he went near the object. Matthew had followed and there it was a Rune just as small as a regular rock. It looked beautiful as if it was trying to allure you.

"Rune Activator. That rune is the most common rune. It's the pretty basic rune for activating other kinds of runes. Without that. No other runes would be opened. Although that one looks weirder than usual. Usually, Rune Activate is brown or just silver." Ethaniel took the rune away from Matthew and scanned it thoroughly.

"Oh ho ho! What a lucky find! This is a rune that never breaks! An Ancient Rune! This is worth more than any auction themselves!" Ethaniel exclaimed.

"Give it to me. It's mine now." Matthew said.

Ethaniel had second thoughts but then it hit him. Before they had went to the very first floating island. He told everyone that until we reach the very last island, every loot we find is Matthew's property. Ethaniel gave back the stone unwillingly. Matthew grinned at the sight of his brother trying to be obedient.

They continued to walk for hours and hours until they heard a step. Someone had stepped on a twig. Everyone had troubles seeing, knowing it was dusk they had more problems with vision. They all shrugged but had been alert. Each of them looked around spotting for any danger. As hours passed by, they grew more and more tired. The group had decided to camp out for the night and so they did. There was a way out of the forest they were in and had a small, mini valley perfect for camp. They all were tired and had prepared their things. Matthew prepared a camp fire for heat. April prepared the glowing flowers the whole valley. Alexander was the security. Emilia gathered the wood to create and form their beds. Matthew and Luciel was making a hut for each pair. April will sleep with Emilia, Alexander and Luciel, and Ethaniel with Matthew. The hut they prepared was big enough that could fit four people inside. With their powers, everything was easy enough to make in an hour.

After three long hours, everything was prepared and the food was being made by April and Emilia. It was a soup with random stuff in it. Matthew tried to remember how bad her sister was in cooking and he laughed at the thought.

"HEY! I may be a bad cook but this time I had Emilia teach me!" April says with a pouty face.

Ethaniel, Matthew, and Luciel laughed at April. Alexander and Emilia were busy chit-chatting. The food was finished and everyone gathered around the campfire. They were sitting on logs Luciel had cut with his big spear. Everyone had enjoyed talking and eating. They shared a few moments of their lives and were happy for a moment.

A sudden screeching was heard near the exit they went out of. It sounded as if a big was being slaughtered. The all grew alert and stood up. Each of them had summoned their weapons. Matthew felt a strong sense of danger just inside the forest and held the others off.

"It isn't safe. That thing there isn't something to be dealt with." Matthew warned.

They all stepped back and had relaxed. Matthew knew and had more experience in presence and danger, so they all didn't argue.

"What's in there is there and there only. It's afraid of the light. The first thing it will do is try getting rid of the light around us slowly." Matthew explained.

Ethaniel fought the urge to be impressed with his brother. April was happy too to finally see his brother back. Matthew Johnson Acker. The strategist of the family. He analyzes anything in just a moment. He gives out instruction once he finished thinking. And so he did;

"April makes sure those lights around the border of the forest don't go out. This valley wasn't a valley for now reason. This must be a place for them(their pack) gathers."

"Meaning?" Ethaniel asked.

"Meaning, we are trespassing their grounds." Matthew answered with his worry self. He think and thinked to solve this problem much easier but he knew for a fact that the easiest solution was to fight and win the territorial fight.

"If we can do one thing, its to fight them for this territory." Matt said. "Listen to me and listen carefully. One mistake from one of you would destroy this plan. Alexander, I want you to hide your presence and count how many we are dealing with. I'm sure these are a wolf species." Matthew told the assassin. Alexander upon hearing what his Master had said, he immediately followed it.

"Emilia, I want you to make traps in this valley." Matthew continued.

"April, make sure to keep the lights on until everything is ready."

"Luciel, prepare for battle. We will both be rushing into the forest." Luciel nodded.

"Ethaniel. Take in charge of the safety of April and Emilia." Matthew told his brother. His brother agreed and they all prepared.

"Luciel lets go." Matthew told the warrior while summoning his sword, The Solvier'res Ice Sword.

Matthew lifted his sword and started running. Nearing the entrance through the forest, he saw Alexander ready to report.

"How many have you counted so far?" Matthew stood in front of Alexander.

"There were 8 direwolves and one of them is unknown to me." Alexander told Matthew. Matthew nodded.

"Find more in different areas. We'll clear this place first." Matt instructed Alexander.

Direwolves... Fast, strong, and are fire elemental wolves.

"Go to east. I'll take care of this." Matthew told Luciel thus he followed.

Matthew was a mile out of the exit when he spotted tails of the wolves. He prepared his Ice Sword to swing; "Graceful Swordsmanship." He leaped into one wolf. The rest of the wolves growled at the man. They surrounded Matthew. Matthew exhaled and prepared his sword. He held the sword with his two arms and remembered the skill; "Aice Ios." Ice Dance swordsmanship from the graceful cultivating book. Lethal to elemental fire entities. The sword of Matthew froze, and he started to "dance". The wolves rushed through Matthew and each of them would get slashed and die. With just one swing one would be thrown out of the sky.

He finished the rest of the Direwolves and headed deeper. He felt the presence of the unknown species. He saw it. Twice as big as a Dire Wolf but a Wind Elemental wolf. This one was rare, and you barely get to see this.

"Sad to break it to you but if you attack or injure me. I wont spare you-" he wasn't able to finish what he wanted to say when the wolf threw itself towards Matthew.

"I told you so. Juggle." The one piece wolf turned into pieces. It got ripped into pieces before it got the chance to attack. Its blood was blue, and it spilled some of it on the face of Matthew.

A moment and Matthew felt another bigger presence. It was the same from before. It was east side. He turned his head in the east and started heading there.
