Chapter 6 - Act 6: The First Witch Hunt

5 years have passed since the twins fought Eve, back in the blacksmith. 5 years has also passed and the twins have completed their training, they also learn new skills, new spells, new knowledge, they also learned that there are some witches who wanted peace with humans, but due to the fear and hatred, they were forced to hide themselves in the dark and stayed away from any contact. Madison and Mason are now 20 years old.

Back at the mansion – the twins decided to tell Caesar that they are going on a witch hunt. They went to Caesar's office and it seems that Caesar was waiting for them.

Caesar was waiting for them in his office and as the twins arrived, he congratulates them, "Madison and Mason, congratulations on your completion in training. As a symbol of my gratefulness as your teacher, I hereby give you this." Caesar gave the twins a pair of black coats with a symbol of the new crest of De Luna family.

The twins were so happy for the gift and replied, "Thank you very much, teacher!"

Caesar nods with a smile on his face and said, "Since the gifts have been given, it is time to discuss some things."

The twins looked at each other, and Madison asked, "What do you mean by 'some things'?"

Caesar answered, "You see, I already talked to the governor about what to do with you, since you already completed your training. Until we have the conclusion that you are free to do whatever you like."

Mason became excited about this and said, "Thank you very much for everything, teacher!" As he bowed.

Caesar replied, "Okay, okay. Mason, please raise your head." And instructed the twins, "As for the talk with the governor, he said that he will be waiting for you at the front gate. There is something that the governor wants to discuss with you. But first, I also wanted to give this to you." As he gave the twins two cards.

The twins got curious and Madison asked, "A card? What is this?"

Caesar answered, "That card that you are holding is your licensure card. That card will be your license so that you can go to guilds in various places, you can go adventuring and even witch hunting. Take it as a job profession."

Caesar also added, "But even with the license card, you can't go on a witch hunt unless you've got yourself the seal of approval from the governor of the village."

The two looked at each other and Mason said, "But to get the seal, you must go to the village where you came from and there you can get the seal of approval."

Madison also added, "But our village has..."

"You don't have to worry a thing, I have already arranged the requirements and managed to get you two the seal." Caesar replied.

The two were surprised and Madison asked, "Really!? Then when we will get the seal?"

Caesar replied, "You will get it once we meet at the front gate. Please excuse me, I have some preparations to attend to." As he stands up and excused himself as he walked out of the room.

The twins looked at each other and smiled. "Mason, do you think that we can avenge our parents?" Madison asked.

Mason answered, "I don't know... But for now, we need to think about what're we going to do from here on out."

Madison nodded and smiled, as they walked out of the room and went outside to the front gate.

At the front gate – the twins have arrived and at the gate where Caesar, Marcel and the others are waiting.

Before they depart, Caesar gave the letters and a list of places and said, "The governor approved my proposal, but in return, he gave me a list of places that you need to go and if I'm not mistaken, it already includes the forest in the far north. He said that, wherever villages you go, if you show the seal of the governor, they will allow you to enter their village and the forest within their territory, since the places listed were much far away. He also said that you can start tomorrow since he knew that if he gave his approval to you, you would be excited. So, I wish you good luck tomorrow on your first hunt."

Mason replied, "Thank you Caesar, you're a truly reliable friend and a master. If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have gone this far. I hope someday we could repay you and the governor for this."

Caesar said, "Oh no, don't mention it. I only do what people always do when someone was in need and besides think of it as a memento of our friendship."

Marcel gave some advice to Mason and said, "If you ever come to a fight where you can't win, run away from it. It is better to keep yourselves alive rather than killing yourself. Remember, I allowed you to embark yourselves in your journey because you have a mission, I know that you want revenge for your parents, but revenge only begets regrets, so be sure to remember that, okay?"

Mason replied, "I will, thank you, Sir Marcel. I hope someday, I can repay you for taking care of us." As they shake their hands, a sign of appreciation.

While Mason was having a conversation with Caesar and Marcel, Madison was thinking something, and it keeps bugling her mind. Caesar noticed here and asked, "Madison, it seems something was on your mind. Care to share it?"

Madison replied, "Oh, I've been thinking something..."

"And what is it supposed to be?" Caesar asked.

Madison replied, "Is it true that there are some witches who wanted peace with the people?"

Caesar answered, "I'm afraid that I don't have the right answer for that."

Madison replied, "I see..."

"But if you do encounter a witch whose goal is to have peace, what will you do?" Caesar asked.

Madison answered, "Then I will do what people always do when someone is in need."

Caesar replied, "Then that's the answer you've been looking for. When you do encounter one make sure you get along each other because you can't kill all witches with just the two of you. You somehow need allies who has more knowledge and information about witches. I'm telling you this not just because I'm concern as your friend but to give you a step forward for your desire in revenge."

"I see... Thank you Caesar, I'll keep in mind about that." Madison said.

Mason interrupts them and said, "Well Madison, it is time for us to depart. Are you done saying goodbye to them?"

Madison answered, "Yes... I will not forget about them." As she smiled at Mason, innocently.

When preparations are finished, a maid suddenly came to Mason and said, "Um... Master Mason, Caesar told me to give you this."

She gave Mason a moderately curved sword. Mason looked at it and he was astonished because the sword was not a double edged, but a single edged one, it is thin, but it is too sharp, it may not be that long, but it is good to carry. So, he decided to test the sword, he asked the maid to bring him a piece of wood. The maid brought him one, but the wood is thick, he unsheathed the sword and then gives a full swing. The sword was still intact, but the wood itself was cut in half, clean. Mason was astonished to see a sword which has such capable of making a clean cut on anything.

Caesar asked, "So? How does it feel?"

Mason answered, "It feels so light and well-balanced. It is a bit lighter than Excalibur. Thank you very much Caesar."

"Oh, I almost forgot. The governor also wants to give you this." Caesar also added, "He said that in any case happens, you will need this."

He gave Mason a small bag full of money, and three small bottles of potion.

"What's this?" Mason asked, "Some kind of potion?"

Caesar answered, "It's a healing potion, the governor said that you will need it when you're in a certain situation. Regardless, you will need it to your journey so better to use it wisely."

Mason replied, "Okay! Thanks a lot!" And asked the maid, "I forgot, what's your name?"

The maid answered, "It's Rem, my name is Rem"

"My name is Mason, it's nice to meet you Rem." Mason replied.

Rem suddenly blushes and smiled. Madison immediately interrupts, "Mason? Hitting on the maid?"

Mason replied, "Huh!? No, no..."

"Oh? Really? Base on the look of your face, it seems that my brother has caught in so-called Love at first sight." Madison giggled and said, "Don't worry brother, I'm rooting for you. The maid is cute anyways."

Mason blushed, "Tch! Cut it out, will you!?"

And so, the twins gave a farewell to Rem and the others. They told Rem that they will be back full handed and the journey of the newly Witch Hunters has begun. They will face new experiences and situations and new people to get along.
