Chapter 6 - The New Resident

(back to the third person's pov)

It was 4:30 am. Verity couldn't sleep. She kept tossing and wiggling on the bed until she fell flat on her face with a thud which made the woman who lives right a floor below , spill her tea.

Well, not the best way to wake up. She got up, rubbing her head and butt with a frown on her face. "Owww, my ass hurts!" She whined and walked over to the kitchen. "4:30? fudge!" She whispered looking at the small clock in  her kitchen. What was she gonna do so early? Ughhhh...She walked over to the bathroom to brush and freshen up as she won't sleep back, and noticed that she was gaining fat which made her drop her toothbrush. "What the--" She looks at her belly and whispers...

Well, Verity's got to grind. The sooner she accepts the better.

She throws on her jogging-gear and sets out of the door, jogging in nearly empty streets. Its cold and she didn't bring a jacket because a sudden wave of self-consciousness hit her like a truck . So yeah, stuff like that happens to those who get motivation to do shit randomly out of nowhere, just like Verity.

She has her airpods in and she's running as if she's participating in Olympics whereas this should've been a nice jog. She notices a slim figure walking by, carrying too much luggage for one person. She looks at the person and the name clicks in her mind.

NATHAN MOORE.

Why tf does he have to be everywhere?! Verity sighed and decided to unsee him and run right past but he grabbed her by her wrist and stopped her. "What dumbass?" Verity says loosening from his grip. "Well, good morning Verity. Could you tell me the way to Palmsprings - Apartment ? Its kinda where I'm moving in as its close to HS (high-school) and I seem a lil lost..." Nathan says and sighs. "Well, jesus, I didn't need to hear the story, anyways thats just right over there besides that cafe. " She directs him and jogs off back to the track.

While jogging, random thoughts crossed her mind. Out of them , the most random one I wished I'd never gotten was him moving to the apartment where I live as well. GODDAMNIT, FML!!, Verity thought.

"Please don't be my neighbor, Christ, please..." Verity chants as she jogs.

NATHAN'S POV:

She isn't that cold, she might be a good person at heart . Maybe I can really befriend her. Perhaps, I might end up being her neighbor . Wow, I'm excited. She looks like a sweet girl with the personality of a cool dude and honestly, thats dope asf.

Plus , she spits fire so I might start keeping quiet, what if she's cold and I'm mistaken? damn, would she murder me for talking too much? totally, from the way she looks like, you wouldn't wanna mess with her, she looks like a nuclear bomb or some shit right up your ass if you fuck around.

I sigh as I reach the apartments, yeah they're huge and all but honestly I could care less. Why am I moving in with so much stuff?! I literally brought stuff that around 5 people would require like seriously....Ugh, can't believe I'll have to carry this all in.

I take my key from the receptionist and walk over to the elevator. Floor 20 is my stop and room 11 is the destination.

This elevator is slow asf, I'd have been up there by foot by now. Every minute in this elevator feels like an eternity . I check the time and notice its 5 am now, its been 30 minutes already. WHAT THE FUCK IS IT WITH THIS ELEVATOR?!

Finally after ages I reached up and I shrugged as soon as I got out. I thanked lord for keeping me alive and 21 because every second in that elevator made my age add up by 2 years. I pick my luggage , try to walk over my room, dragging my tired ass to room 11. This is so difficult , damnit.

"9...10.....11, yeah thats mine!" I yell as I reach the door, finally, I can't wait to hit the hay.

I realize I missed something, the door beside me....room 10...it has a piece of paper duct taped to the door.

"Please walk right past without knocking, thanks." I read. I burst into a laughter at whosoever this person was, I mean cmon, thats straight up savage. I need a custom door address too, well, I might just put my name , that itself would be a statement.

I twist the keys and unlock the door and walk in, dragging my stuff through the door. It's beautiful. I love it, even though it's small but.... Most importantly, it feels like home.

I start unpacking as soon as I enter because I know I'll procrastinate later.

After three hours of unpacking and decorating my room,  I collapse on the bed not wanting to wake up ever again. My entire body hurts and my legs are shaking. As soon as my body hit the soft bed,  I felt like I'd melt. Wow. Even though this place is awesome and all.... I still miss Koreatown beacause it was close to my heart. Being half Korean myself,  I really enjoyed the vibe there.

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing and vibrating like crazy beside me. I checked the time and it was dusk.

I look out of my window and see that it's pouring down.

I sigh and look at my chiming phone and see dozens of text messages from some people I don't know,  I take a look and switch my phone off and drift back to sleep. Fuckers disturbed my peaceful time!

VERITY'S POV:

I was returning from work as it was 4:30pm now. I'm catching my train back home and it's relaxing as I haven't really seen Nathan. That guy is annoying asf I swear.

I walk into the train compartment and glance in, scanning every passenger thoroughly. Nathan isn't here today. I wonder why not. Even though I hate him but I kinda,  teeny bit enjoy his company.

I sit down on my usual seat , listening to music and staring out of the window. There are a lil more passengers today than usual but it's still quiet.

I get out of the train and notice it's pouring down. Fuck. I don't have an umbrella. Why is it raining? The weather was clear asf throughout the day!!! Ugh...

I sigh and wait down the Subway so that I can walk out when the rain stops but it doesn't look like it will.

I have always hated rain. It's so depressing. I love the weather before and after rain an d perhaps even the petirchor but I certainly hate rain,  especially when it rains outta nowhere.

An hour at the Subway patiently waiting for the rain to stop has now become an eternity. I'm losing my patience.

Can it stop raining already?!!

"FUCK IT! " I yell as I make my way upstairs, deciding to walk home in this rain.

If my phone or headphones get wet and destroyed,  I'll fuck the rain for that shit.

Ten minutes later I reach home,  panting because of all the running in the rain. I unlock the door to my room and walk in,  throwing my backpack across the room and kicking off my shoes . I rush to the bathroom and strip off my wet clothes and hop in the shower.

After taking the shower,  I throw myself on the bed and open my laptop to watch some Netflix and chill out as I'm tired asf.

I drift off to sleep watching my favorite manga series - Tokyo ghoul without even realizing.

"I have to return Nathan's sketchbook... " I mumble in my sleep.
