Chapter 43 - FORTY-TWO: The Coming Calamity

SAMUEL

I breathed in a sigh of relief. I have never thought a day like this would come that I have to channel the goddess Hebe power, in order, to prevent Kieran to try and doing something weird to me. I sighed. I was still lying in this bed. I turn around to see Kieran sleeping face with a white shirt on him not yet buttoned his muscles are really well toned. I looked at his sleeping face he has nice natural eyebrows and beautiful eyes along with a nice pointed nose. He still looks handsome when he is asleep.

I didn't mean to hurt him with my powers, but he was obviously jumping in too fast. However, there is something about him and Hades that makes them look too similar alike. I don't like where my thinking is going with this. And how Hades said to not make him use any more of his powers sounded like.

I keep seeing Kieran wincing in his sleep. It must be the energy inside this room that must have made him uncomfortable. I walked right out of the bed and to the closet I needed to find clothes close to my size, but it's hard. My frame is skinny all the clothes are all too big. I looked back at Kieran it's his fault for making clothes disappear now I am stuck wearing an oversized T-shirt as much as I hate wearing someone else boxer I have no other choice but to wear it. It's better than walking half-naked in this palace and waving my junk at them.

I walked out of the bedroom and closed the door behind it. I am hearing groans from him. I need to find Poseidon, but I didn't know-how. This is a palace there is a lot of rooms here. I wished I can find Poseidon. I sighed.

My necklace suddenly glows and pulls me upward. I looked at the necklace weirdly. It kept pulling me making me choke. I was forced to follow the necklace so that it won't strangle me. I was led up the stairs by the necklace, walked across the hall with empty white walls until it pointed to a room in the center of everything only then did the necklace glow stopped and go back to an ordinary necklace.

I gave a few knocks on the door and a figure came out. It was Poseidon he was half-naked and in jeans. He is strongly built. "Samuel," Poseidon said. "What are you doing standing outside my room?"

"Sorry, Lord Poseidon, it's Kieran he is not feeling well."

"Yea... I know."

"Ok," I said awkwardly. "Can you do something about it?"

He stayed silent and looks at me at my oversized clothing. "Why don't you come in for a little?" I was a little hesitant. "Don't be shy. I am god damn straight after all." I nod.

I took a step in and the smell of strong ocean scent hits my nose. I can hear the waves crashing coming from the balcony as the wind blew gently into the room. I catch Elena sleeping on his bed and the nine-tailed fox sleeping beside her. Why hasn't the boss come back to us yet?

Poseidon came and sit down on a chair and I followed him. "We were all lead into a trap," Poseidon said.

I looked at him confused.

"The Ancient Ones purposedly set up a trap to wrap Zeus in gold chains."

"Zeus," my eyes became wide. "But isn't that Elena."

"No, that's my sister. The Lord of the Sky, Zeus. Elena is a host for Zeus." My mouth became round. "In this lifetime, we share quite the resemblance to our host. I don't know if this is just a mere coincidence or that the fates have just decided for us to be this way. Listen, Samuel, when we went up to Olympus to save Zeus we were all led into a trap by the Ancient Ones, but you Samuel are the only human being that was not affected by their magic."

"Sorry, Lord Poseidon, can we talk about this later. Hades needs your help."

Poseidon sighed. "I guess that is also true." He sat up and the water from the ocean circled around his body once it disappeared his jean was replaced with a shredded one white and he wore a blue shirt matching the color of his eyes.

He twirls his fingers and the water went up to my body. All of my clothing disappeared and I was wearing black jeans that I used to wear that go along with my favorite grey shirt. I stared back at Poseidon confused. How does he know? "We'll talk about that later along with the others. Let's go," he said walking out the door.

I looked back towards Zeus before heading out of the room and she looks awfully look a lot like Elena. I look back at the fox that was sleeping beside her. Why is she not returning back to normal?

There are so many questions in my head. I closed the door behind me and ran up to Poseidon. "Why don't you use your magic to just reappear inside a room where Hades is?"

"I prefer to see my brother suffer a little more," he replied. "If you didn't come and ask me I would have left Hades to suffer and come two weeks later."

Two weeks? My eyes became wide. "What- why?"

Poseidon looks back down at me confused. "It's because he is my brother."

I am not going to bother asking more questions about his brotherly relationship with Hades. It already sounds as messed up as it seems. What kind of brother would leave his sibling suffering? I just shake my head. All I want is for Kieran to be better.

Once reached inside the room Poseidon walked up to Hades. Poseidon touched Hades's forehead. "Stupid Lorenzo memories," Poseidon mumbles. "For the god of the underworld, you are sure weak to white magic." Kieran just winced in his sleep. Poseidon just clutched his hand and opens up. Water formed at the palm of his hand but they were eerie black and red. He drops the water down to Kieran where the water melts into his body and immediately Kieran's expression softens. He slowly opens up his eyes but they were still red like Hades.

Kieran took a couple of breaths and tried to sit upright. He didn't even bother to button up his clothing. He gave in a sigh and looks at me. "It was all a trap," he said deadpanned. "Everything was just a trap. Now we can't complete the fox final evolution and Zeus is in a deep sleep. This was what the Ancient Ones are plotting after all." Poseidon became silent. "We're all going to end up the Ancient One's pawn."

"May I ask what is going on?" I asked willing to listen this time since Kieran awoke.

Poseidon looks up at me. "I have been trying to tell you this. We have played right into our enemies' hands. The Ancient Ones lured us all to Olympus to save Zeus so that all of us can merge with our god."

"Is that bad?" I asked not sure if merging is actually a bad thing.

"It's very bad," Kieran looks at me. "The merging can drive a human mind insane turning the human who hosted gods in their body into a blood-hungry monster and since Lorenzo and I hosted one of the big three one of the most powerful gods in the world. Earth will be doomed. Two of us are enough to destroy the human nation with a snap of our fingers. The Ancient Ones were planning to wipe out Earth using us."

"Why would the human mind go insane though if you guys were to be merged?"

"The merging will allow the human mind to gain our memories as gods and the gods to gain their host memories, but gods memories are a lot and impossible for the human mind to comprehend, Samuel," Poseidon explained. "And now Hades and I are going through merging and when we do no one safe is around us."

"Is there any way to stop this?" I asked. I looked up at Kieran afraid to lose him. I can't lose him. Poseidon and Kieran were both remaining silents.

"We could," Kieran finally said.

"No, we can't," Poseidon cuts in. "It's too dangerous."

"But we can't let the human population die, brother. I refused to let the Ancient Ones win more importantly I want to spend more time with Samuel be it Hades or Kieran. I love Samuel. He is my Mr. Right, my lover, and my wife."

I ran up to Kieran. I didn't care if he is Hades or Kieran all I wanted is to be in his embrace. He pulls me down and I sat in his lap he leans in kissing me on the lip. I was a little surprised but I closed my eyes and opens up my mouth our lips sync together kissing passionately.

We pulled apart for me to catch my breath and he puts his head onto my shoulder. "Tell me what do I have to do?" I asked.

Kieran smiles. "The Ancient Ones did not predict the coming of you to Olympus and have the power to channel Hebe powers, the power of life or youth. Use her power and shortened our lifespan as gods like this when Zeus wakes up we can still evolve the fox before we go our way."

I got off his lap. I shake my head. I can't do that. I can't kill them. I can't become a murderer.

"There is another alternative," Poseidon advises. "But this one is much more dangerous than you have suggested, brother."

"We can't," Kieran opposed.

"Anything, please?" I begged. Ignoring Kieran.

"We need to get back to our original bodies but it'll leave our domain defenseless and our territory vulnerable to our enemies. We can get to my body first since we are here in my domain."

"I don't understand."

"Our original bodies are actually a rift between the humans and ours. It means when we go back to our original bodies my domain will be exposed to the humans."

Kieran immediately held my hand. "We can't monster from the underworld will roam earth and humans will haunt down your people. What do you think when humans start seeing phoenixes in the sky? What do you think will happen then Poseidon?"

I kept listening and hoping for a solution but every solution leads to another calamity. In the end, I fidget around the necklace and I could only think of one solution. I channel the goddess of life powers.

"Hades," I said. "Where is goddess Hebe right now?"

"Why are asking?"

"Please just answer."

"She's gone, forgotten. The necklace is the last remaining of her powers."

"I thought so," I said to myself.

"Samuel, what are you thinking?" Hades said worriedly. "Don't do anything stupid."

"How did she die?"

"She died giving the humans another chance to live the last time I failed to host anyone on Earth to evolve the fox."

I breathe. I knew there was something odd about the necklace from the beginning. They were so warm in my hands. "If Hebe can do something like that I can do that."

"No!" Kieran panicked. I was still absorbing the goddess in my hands. He rushed up to me and pins me against the wall his eyes were wide open with fear. "I can't let you die, Samuel."

"And I can't let humanity die. You and the other gods are going to be alright." I smile. "I love you."
