Chapter 7 - SIX: Cold

ERICA

I began to cough in the morning. I was feeling really cold like I am actually living inside a refrigerator. I can't get out of bed. I took all the blankets and just wrapped them around me. I could feel the cold sweat dripping down from my forehead. I was shaking violently at the temperature. Something was wrong with me. I have never gotten sick, my whole life. Now I am suddenly feeling cold.

Fay's hand turned to touch me, but she only gasped at the cold woken violently by it. She was looking at me worried.

"Erica! What the hell? Why are you so damn cold?"

"Yea... good morning love or that is what I wanted to say before you actually woke up."

"Spare me the joke. Jesus... I even asked you if you were alright yesterday. Liar!"

I pulled a weak smile. The door was suddenly burst open and Fay quickly hid her body with the blanket. She was afraid when she saw a tall man enter the room.

"Hey Dad," I greeted. I tried to sit upright but I only ended up coughing instead everything was swirling around me. Fay quickly grabs before I could even fall onto the ground pulling me back up to the bed and quickly managed to pull the blanket back towards her body.

"Hey Erica," he smiles. I still love the way the dimples showed at the side of his cheek it makes him even more charming. He still has his masculine features despite that he is nearly in his 50's.

Though everyone who looked at our family had stated that our family looks younger than we look. "Looks like grandpa was not wrong about you being sick after wearing that ring for a few days." I gave my dad a glare and he just laughed. Coming in and ignoring Fay's presence as he took my hand and looked into the ring. "Hmm.. icy blue," his deep voice resonates inside the room. His deep voice was one thing that made my mom love him and it makes him look even sexier. "It really looks like one of the big three is really fascinated about you."

"Dad I'm sorry but I would like you to meet someone first."

He arches his brows. "Don't worry my brother filled me in everything. Nice to meet you, Fay you're the girl that Erica proposed to right?" Fay nods and blushes.

"Nice to meet you, Uncle-"

"Lorenzo will be fine. Just call me Lorenzo."

She smiles. "Hello, Lorenzo."

"Atta girl," he spoke. "Gosh, Erica you're freezing."

"I am freezing dad. Can't you see that I am shaking?"

"Yes and an awful lot." He scooped me into his arm weightlessly while Fay stayed behind to change into better clothing. He walked across the hall towards his bedroom. Mother was inside no longer in business clothing but in her usual T-shirt and pants. Her long black hair just graciously flows down to the back of her waist. She still has an elegant look on her.

"Erica!" She hugged me. "I missed you so much. We came as quickly as we could, but you know your grandpa loves to tell things at the very last minute."

"I am so cold," I complained. I couldn't stop my teeth from clattering.

My father put a finger to his lips telling me to quiet. "Don't worry Erica we will fix you just when your grandpa fixed me." He smiles. Then I knew this was perfectly normal and so I nod my head. "Just close your eyes and just take a couple of nice breaths into your lungs and out." I listened, closing my eyes and just breath. I was feeling a little better, but somehow when I felt my body touched water. I wanted to wake up, but I couldn't. I was paralyzed.

When I felt my whole body submerge into cold water. I have heard Fay's voice.

"What are you doing Mr. and Mrs. Von? Erica...."

I couldn't understand what was happening, but what I felt anymore was that I was at peace. I wasn't cold anymore, but I was one with them.

The rest up to Erica to decide.
