Chapter 3 - Bewitched

The sound of the piano was the first indication of my successful reach. The piano man was playing let me call you sweetheart as white pillars with gold accents manifested before my eyes. I'd make the dance floor oak. I'll start Nora leaning against the piano lightly swaying to the music. I brace myself and soak in what's about to happen. In a few moments, I'll exist to Nora. Some untapped parts of her subconscious will know me. And even though I have full control here, I would never take away her free will. Well, Unless she wanted me to. But either way, I'd know soon enough if she approves of me. If she doesn't she could easily wake up and end my reach. I'm ready. I break Nora from the trance I started her in and her eyes quickly dart from pillar to pillar till the finally rest on me. She smiles, looks down for a moment then right back at me. Ha, yep, she definitely approves. I don't t want to brag but I'm decent to look at. My hair is dark, medium length and has a messy but put together look. I'm tall with a good build and my eyes are light blue. So I'm confident when I take my first step towards her. But all that fades once she's looking at me. I melt in her eyes and I'm happy to do so. I reach my hand out and say

"will you dance with me?"

She nods her head and just like that my vision has come to be. Her waist is in my hands and I'm staring down into her eyes.

"You don't talk much do you," she asked. Her whole face was smiling.

I lean close and whisper,

"Ii find that I'm speechless when I look at you. I think you may have bewitched me"

She laughed and her face blushed.

"Why does this feel so real?" she asked with wide anxious eyes.

That's an easy answer.

"well Nora, that's because it is real," I said.

She rested her head against my chest and replied

"This is definitely a dream, but I don't want to wake up"

She recognizes this as a dream which meant her subconscious was spilling out onto the cognitive parts of her mind. Nora was more present than I thought possible and it gave me hope that maybe she was feeling me in her heart not just her mind. One thing was for sure though, she was my version of heaven, and being with her is the only thing that made any sense yet, it made no sense at all. I lead her around the ballroom while my favorite song played on repeat. Little was said with words and so much was communicated with glances and expressions. She draped her arms around my neck and put her fingers in my hair. while I rested one hand on the small of her back, the other held her firmly in place and close to me.

"I still don't know your name," she said with a questioning tone.

I opened my mouth to answer but was suddenly interrupted by what can only be described as drums. But I didn't manifest drums in this reach...something wasn't right and Nora heard it as well. We both stopped and scanned the room. slowly and almost in a fade, the room started to dissolve. I've seen this before, Nora was waking up and that drumming sound was to blame. I felt her slip from my grasp like sand through my fingers. And just like that, I was alone again.

Noras POV:

In the hell?? I must have fallen asleep.

I sat up disheveled and trying to remember something that I don't remember forgetting if that even makes sense?

"Knock-knock!"

I heard a voice call. "Hello?" I say as I sit up, eyes struggling to focus and still very confused. I see a figure through my hard blinks and realize it's Bonnie. She's been my bestie for as long as I could remember. She's nosy, over-opinionated, sometimes intrusive, nevertheless, she's my Bestie.

"Hey, you! did you know your door was unlocked?" She asked.

"really hmmm I must have been in a hurry to get in and settled" I replied.

"yeah had I known it was unlocked I wouldn't have wasted five minutes of my time knocking on your door," she said rolling her eyes.

"Omg Bonnie, I think...wait yeah, I just had a crazy dream," I announce while still grasping at my memory.

"Ohhh spill," she said plopping down hard on my bed.

I leaned closer to her, preparing myself for my own words.

"It was completely lucid. I could feel and see everything as if I were wide awake. And there was this guy, he was....uh he was so beautiful. WOW I'm super pissed you woke me up" I said sounding annoyed right before I tossed a pillow at her.

"Sorry, not sorry! Time to stop dreaming and meet the real thing." She replied with a hint of disdain.

"I told you before B, nothing serious till my goals fall into place."

"Who said anything about serious?" She responded with a wink.

"Oh eww hahaha you're terrible!" I said shocked but humored at the same time.

"Ok well I'm headed out, call me later?" She asked.

I respond with a nod and a wave while allowing myself to fall back into the comfort of my blankets once again.

"LOCK YOUR DOOR"

I hear her shout right before my front doors close shut. "Ughhh! I didn't get his name." I whispered to myself.
