Cains POV:
It took me a couple of minutes to gather my senses. Once I did I quickly realized we were no longer alone and Nora was telling her friend about our time together. I lingered after she woke. That meant everything to me. So
Much so that the reality of being invisible
didn't sting as bad. I don't know how to feel about this friend of hers. Bonnie was it? I don't know but the things she hinted to didn't seem appropriate and to be perfectly honest, imaging Nora with "the real thing" as she put it, f**ked with my head, and if Bonnie isn't careful she's gonna have some pretty crazy dreams. I know, I had absolutely no right to feel this way, but I do. Nora was my girl, even if she didn't know it yet. But with these new abilities stirring, I have a feeling a lot is about to change. I feel stronger than I ever have. Fueled by passion and ready to do whatever it takes to defy odds, logic, and even nature. Nora and I are two halves of one whole and the more I'm close to her the stronger I feel. I've never had a reach so elaborate and last so long. Plus I don't drain at all. In fact, I feel energized.
Noras POV:
Well, there's no more putting it off, I need to start framing before Grace loses patience with me. She and I met in college and are very much like-minded, we're more business than personal and even if we were close friends, I doubt the "thinking of hot dream guy" was a legit excuse to put work off. I enter my art room and deeply inhale. The smells of acrylic fill my senses and I begin to feel exuberant and alive. I'm in my happy place. As much as I loved that dream, I have to admit, my reality is pretty cool. I scan the room in search of the perfect frame for my silhouette painting. It's of a couple, just their silhouettes. Walking hand in hand together. Dark but surrounded by light, and color. I choose the perfect frame from one of many small stacks leaning against the wall and gentility began framing. Not long into the process my phone rings. I wait till the very last second before answering.
"Nora!" I hear my mother's voice say with surprise
"I'm not too far from your house. I was hoping we could talk" she continued.
Looking around at the little progress I made had my mind was screaming NOOOO but I smiled through clenched teeth
"sure mom! C'mon over" I replied.
"See you in 5," she said before hanging up.
I had just enough time to put on some water for tea when I heard a knock at the door. I sped walked to the door while dusting off the acrylic dust from my hands. Opening the door the first thing I see was a ball of bright red hair formed in large tight curls.
"Wow mom, you dyed your hair red?" I asked.
"Don't be a cad Nora, you know I'm a natural redhead" she responded while pulling me in to kiss my cheek.
"Oh god look at you, what have you been rolling around in?" She asked.
I didn't have time to respond before she says in a dismissive tone "oh well, let's get down to the real reason I'm here. I'm going to be blunt and I need you to just listen." She announces as if she has some pressing information.
I fallow her in the kitchen and place myself against the counter waiting in anticipation. "Well I'm all ears, lets hear it," I said.
she sits down slowly at the table, crosses her legs, and says very sternly
"Nora, you're a link and someone is attaching themselves to you."
What did she say!? Ok. I think she's dyed her hair one too many times.
"Mom. You need to go. I love you but I'm way too busy! I don't have time for this." I say trying to hide my laugh."
She lowers her head and says very Adamantly.
"I need you to listen closely. At this very moment, you're being watched. This spirit is fixated with you. And each passing moment your link grows stronger"
my mouth slowly drops as a chill ran down my spine.
"mom, you're scaring me, I need you to explain exactly what you mean"
"Nora," she begins. "Sit down, I'm ready to tell you everything"
