Raelyn adjusted the huge pile of papers she carried in her hands and walked hurriedly down the sidewalk. It was starting to drizzle and she had not even carried an umbrella.
She was just coming from the bank and it had been completely useless. She had gone with the hope of getting a loan but was denied because she didn't have 'substantial collateral'.
Honestly, she didn't put too much hope on getting a loan from the bank but she had to try still.
She shifted the pile of papers to just her left hand, turned on her phone and looked at the time on her phone and saw it was '4:35'. She let out a sigh and kept walking, putting her phone in the pocket of her shorts. She needed to stop by at work before going to the hospital to meet sky.
Sky, how was he? She thought to herself fishing her phone back out from her pocket. She dialed Damon's number, putting the phone to her ear and listening to it ring. His caller tune 'Psycho' by post Malone started playing and she hummed to it before the call ended.
She let out a sigh and dialed the number again, putting the phone to her ear once more. "Hey" Damon's voice came on
"Hey Damon, how are you doing?" She asked, adjusting the pile of papers she held in just her left hand. It was getting uncomfortable for her.
"I'm good. You?" He asked back "Could be better. I just got back from the bank with no success. The idiot was saying something about me not having substantial collateral and so I couldn't be given a loan" she told him as she walked down the sidewalk, her heels hitting the floor
"You didn't tell me you were going to the bank" he said and she frowned
"Well I did" she said
"Rae..." Damon started but she let out a groan cutting him shut "Look Damon, how is Sky? Are you at the hospital?" She asked quickly. She wasn't in the mood to hear him talk about whatever he wanted to talk about
"No, no I'm not" he said, a small trace of hurt in his voice. Raelyn didn't notice though, all that clouded her mind was 'he isn't with Sky?'
"What?!" She exclaimed as she suddenly stopped walking "What do you mean you're not at the hospital?"
"Raelyn, I had to leave for work. I can't be with him all day" he said, his tone angry
"Oh wow. Damon, I left you with him. You said you were going to be with him till I came back" Raelyn fired back, her tone even more angry than his
" Yeah, that was before I knew you were going to the bank. I didn't know you were going to take so long " he said "Something came up at work and I had to go"
"You had to go" she repeated, a big glare on her face that if he'd seen it, he'd probably run away.
"Yes Raelyn, I had to go" he replied back.
"And you couldn't call? You couldn't call to tell me you had to go?" She asked her voice rising slightly
"You didn't call me to say you were going to be late either. " he replied and she let out a bitter laugh
"I just can't believe you. You know what? Its my fault, its my fault for even thinking you were good enough to look after Sky" she said, even though she knew Damon was the best person and only person she could trust to look after Sky.
"Yeah. Maybe it is" he said and she hung up without another word. She let out a sigh and kept walking.
Maybe she overreacted? No, no, Damon is the one at fault. He could have called her but he didn't and he didn't even apologise.
It doesn't even matter, no point thinking about it. She couldn't even stop by at work anymore, she had to go to the hospital and look after Sky.
She dialed Mrs Louisiana's number and it got connected on the first ring. "Mrs Louisiana?"
"Raelyn, what's up? When are you coming to the office?"
"Er..about that, can I just submit the papers tomorrow?" She asked "Please, something came up and I have to go to the hospital" she added quickly
"Okay then. But you'll not be given this privilege all the time, I'm only allowing this because I trust that you will submit the papers tomorrow and it would be well done" she said and Raelyn nodded
"Thanks Mrs Louisiana. I appreciate it" she said before she hung up
It was already 5:07 by now and the rain was starting to pour even more.
"Damn it" she cussed loudly as she pressed the papers to her, trying to protect it from the rain that was now pouring down heavily.
She looked forward and saw the bus stop only a few feet away and without a second thought she ran towards it and under the canopy that stood tall over the bench that was currently empty.
She sat down with a sigh and dropped the papers on the bench beside her. She was completely drenched and her hair stuck to her face face and neck, it was only a miracle that the papers were not soaked.
She used her fingers to peel off the hair that stuck to her face and neck and let out a sigh.
This is just great. First the bank, then Damon and now this stupid rain. She thought to herself and took out her phone.
She should call Damon to come pick her up, or not. Her pride got the better of her and she put her phone back in her pocket.
It was only some minutes past five. Worst come to worst, she'll leave for the hospital by six when the rain stopped or at least reduced.
She wished she had money with her but she didn't, she wasn't sure if she left her purse at the hospital or if she even took it out from home in the first place so she couldn't even take the bus.
She watched the rain get heavier and a sigh escaped her lips as a shiver ran through her. It was so cold and she was already drenched from earlier.
She watched cars of different colours and sizes pass by and she bit her lip.
I should stop a car and ask for help. She thought to herself and stood up, holding the iron pole that held the canopy up.

"I'm very sorry, sir. There was some problem" the chauffeur said with shaky voice
"Some problem huh? For the past 3 hours, I've been waiting here and you say you're sorry?" Zyaire asked, venting the anger from his meeting with Marrina on the driver "Do you know what the time is?" He asked and the chauffeur said nothing
"I asked you something, do you know what the time is?" He asked again, his voice rising
The chauffeur looked down at his watch and back at Zyaire "Seven twenty three sir" he said and Zyaire nodded
"Exactly" Zyaire said glaring at him "Give me the keys" he said, he didn't raise his voice but it was commanding.
"Sir?" The chauffeur asked unsure of his orders
"I said give me the keys" he said, his voice threatening. The chauffeur handed the keys over to him with shaky hands and a worried look on his face.
"You should be able to find your way home before me, right?" He wasn't asking. He was telling him to get home before he did.
The chauffeur looked out at the heavily pouring rain and back at his boss. "Y..yes sir" he said and Zyaire nodded and made his way to the door
The chauffeur followed beside him and held an umbrella over his head till he reached the car and got in. Without a word, Zyaire zoomed off, leaving the chauffeur under the heavy rain with an umbrella.
That was his kindness, he'd left him with an umbrella.
He touched the small screen of the car "Call Harvey" he said and the dialer came on.
Calling Harvey. The automated voice came and on the first ring, Harvey's voice came through
"Mr Zimmermann.."
"Harvey, how did the meeting go?" He asked, looking briefly at the dialer and back at the road
"Sir...they cancelled the contract" he said, his voice shaky
"What?!" He yelled, his car screeching to a stop at the side of the road.
"Sir.."
"What the hell is wrong with you guys? This is not a game, its business and I won't hesitate to replace you all" Zyaire threatened and he meant it. It didn't take him a second to replace every single employee in the company
"Sir.."
"I give you guys one job and what do you do? Absolute rubbish. Harvey, I don't know what you're going to do but you better get that contract else.." He didn't finish his sentence but Harvey knew already what he was going to say.
Without another word, Zyaire disconnected the call and leaned his head against the seat head. His hands dropped from the steering and went through his hair
"Damn idiots" he muttered to himself before his hands went back to the steering. He looked out the window at the pouring rain before turning back to the front, he adjusted in his seat and put the gear back in drive.
Just about to step on the accelerator, he heard a knock on the window of the passenger side. He looked out the window and saw a face, looking into the car.
Slowly, he let the window come down and immediately the loud sound of the rain hitting the floor mercilessly filled his ears. He looked at the woman with a brow raised.
"Can I help you?" He asked
"Actually yes you can. I've been stuck here for about three hours now and the rain's not stopping, can you drop me somewhere?" Raelyn asked hurriedly as the rain came down on her heavily
"What?" He asked like he hadn't heard her
"Oh God" she murmured to herself " I said I need your help. Can you drop me somewhere? " she asked again, her patience wearing thin. She was cold and soaked and very irritable
Zyaire looked at her with no words leaving his lips. He had recognized her, she was the same person that had called him an idiot.
The memory of that time came back, leaving him speechless like it had done the first time. He heard her groan and run towards the bus stop.
She picked up something and ran back to the car, opening the door and getting into the car.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" He asked finally snapping out of his trance
"Making a decision for you. You didn't say anything, I couldn't stay in the rain forever" she said shutting the car door
"Wha..Do you...What do you mean making a choice for me?" He asked "Do you see what you are doing?" He asked with pure, unhidden annoyance
"Sitting down in your car?" She asked "Can you turn off the A/C? Its so cold, I might die soon if its left on" she said looking at the various buttons and back at him
Did she not recognize him? or was she just pretending.
