Chapter 3 - Blue eyes

"Mr Smith can you please get my bags from my room?" Mia politely asked her driver after making sure that her siblings were nowhere in sight.

The driver nodded and left. Jordan and Jewel had gone to a park thirty minutes away and she would have joined them but Mia still had to see her grandma.

She smiled thinking about her. Grandma Martin was one of a kind. She was everyone's dream grandma. She also taught Mia how to fight when the latter was ten.

"Miss everything is in place" Smith said snapping her out of her thoughts. "Where to now?"

"Let's go see Grandma" she said warmly and entered the car.

The house was only twenty minutes away from theirs so they got there in no time. Mia was led to her Grandma's room. Grandma Martin lay on her bed. Although she was frail and a few lines coated her face it was easy to see that she was pretty in her days.

"Grandma" Mia ran to her side and gingerly sat on the bed.

Grandma Martin didn't open her eyes. Mia shook her. No response. Mia became agitated and worried. She started shaking the elderly lady.

"Grandma. Grandma. Please don't leave me" she buried her head in her grandma's neck. The older lady opened her eyes and bit her lower lip to stop herself from bursting into ridiculous laughter. At the same time Mia lifted her head. "I knew you were pulling my leg" she laughed and wiped the fake tears.

"How have you been Cookie?" grandma Martin asked with a smile. She sat up on the bed watching Mia's every expression. She had a feeling that her granddaughter wasn't happy. She held her granddaughter's chin "she said no, didn't she?"

Mia nodded stiffly. Grandma Martin frowned then she sighed. She got off the bed and went to open her curtains. She tilted her head in a way that always let everyone know that she was up to no good "where are your boxes" she asked still looking out of the ceiling to floor window.

"In the trunk" Mia said.

Finally grandma Martin turned and winked at Mia.

"Aren't you worried that mom will get mad?" Mia asked.

"Pfft she's my daughter in law and not the other way around" grandma Martin smirked 'besides I like causing trouble for her'

"They're in the trunk" Mia repeated waiting to hear her grandma's plan.

Her grandma didn't answer. Her brows met in a straight line and Mia didn't need anyone to tell her that her grandma was thinking. After two minutes grandma Martin snapped her fingers a naughty smile playing on her lips.

Grandma Martin held Mia's hand and pulled her outside. They went down the spiral staircase. Mia watched her grandma's every move.

The old lady was really sophisticated, even the way she dressed at home when no one was there would tell you that she was a a lady of elegance and she was well cultured.

Mia's driver was standing at the door talking to the butler. They both greeted Grandma Martin when she reached the door. She responded by smiling warmly but the butler could see her blue eyes twinkling with mischief.

Noah Tariq had lived in this house for thirty years as the butler, he had also gotten used to the Madam's pranks. He sighed and shook his head before speaking to Mia.

"How are you Miss Mia?"

"I am doing well thank you Mr Tariq. And please call me Mia or Cookie, it feels weird when an elderly person calls me Miss"

Smith's brow twitched and he unconsciously glanced at Mia. He called her miss all the time and she said nothing about it. Mia didn't miss the conflicted expression on his face but she only giggled to herself. She let him because Taylor would have his head if she even heard Smith so much as whisper any of their names without a title.

Noah really liked Mia she reminded him of the madam when she was much younger. He remembers how, Sara, that is grandma Martin, pretended to be sick with an unknown sickness just to avoid going back to the army after the loss of her husband. She told her colleagues that scientists were still researching it.

He also remembered how Sara had eaten ice cream for a week after she was diagnosed with diabetes and how she had bought a cotton candy machine right after her personal doctor said she was not diabetic.

She said that she would enjoy life while she still has it. And truly she spent everyday like it was her last. Noah was happy that he got to meet another rebel from the Martin's family in his time.

Although Mia was young he could tell that she'd be a great leader. But somehow he felt that there was sadness in the near future.

Mia was the only one in her generation among the Martins that had blue eyes and that meant she was the next to take over from the present head, grandma Martin.

The Martin born with blue eyes was the one who was to lead the family.

THE ENTIRE FAMILY.

That's why Taylor is hell bent on pushing Mitch to the army, so that the girl would always go to her for help and so that Taylor will always be in control of the Martin's resources.

After all if Mia was beneath her in the army, she would have no choice but to succumb to Taylor's every wish. It was the perfect plan.

What a load of disappointment for her to hear Mia wanted to be a doctor.

"Smith will you stay for dinner tonight, it's been long since we dined together" Sara said with a smile he could not say no to.

Noah's brows twitched. When has Smith ever eaten here? He doesn't even drink water. Noah raised a brow at Sara to which the latter replied with a toothy grin.

The old butler shook his head and signed before looking at Smith, he could only hope that the madam wasn't planning anything nasty. Although it has been a while since her last prank.

Grandma Martin shooed them away to the kitchen to prepare dinner while herself and Mia went to the underground parking lot.
