-Charm's POV-
"Lucas… can you now tell me where you brought your victims?"
Lucas' eyes were glued on the ground the moment he heard what I've just said, as if he's purposely avoiding my gaze. He was hesitant to speak at first, but later on I saw him opening his mouth to respond.
"I brought them in a hidden cave somewhere in the northern part of the city where a huge Arachnid is secretly living. I was able to discover its existence the first time that I went to this city."
"Every full moon, it goes out of its chamber and picks up the food that I am bringing to him, which are the victims of my puppetry skills. I just brought a bunch of people in the cave yesterday…"
My eyes went round at what I've just heard from him. As I looked up at the night skies, I could perfectly see the full moon emitting its shiny, white light which illuminates this whole place.
"You better tell me the exact location of that freaking cave, RIGHT NOW!" I demanded.
Without wasting too much time here, as soon as Lucas was able to tell me the exact location of the Arachnid's cave, I casted a fire spell to free Johanne from freezing over here. Then I took care of my remaining friends who were now in their deep slumber by gathering them into a place where I think is safe for them. Afterwards, I brought Johanne and Lucas with me as I chanted a teleportation spell for us to go on the said cave faster.
In a blink of an eye, we immediately found ourselves greeted by impenetrable blackness, that the moment we set foot into this place, our shadows were instantly dissolved into the surrounding darkness.
My eyes widened at the scene that greeted us as soon as I was able to ignite a ball of fire on my right hand which illuminated this whole place. All of the victims that Lucas brought here, which I mentally counted to be ten personas, are now covered in a thick white thread. As soon as my fingers made contact with this thing covering them, I later found out that these were silky threads that can be compared to what spiders produce.
I swiftly diverted my gaze at Lucas, who in turn looked away as soon as my head jerked to look at him.
"T-they are now being prepared to be eaten by the Arachnid by placing them inside these balls of threads so that they can't run away from this cave anymore." he hesitantly explained, still avoiding my gaze.
I chose to ignore him and went my way towards the first persona covered in the web nearest to where I was standing.
"Quick! Remove all the threads that're covering every mortal in this place!" I instructed in which they willingly obliged.
With my free hand, I hastily pulled all the spider's thread that's covering this human being with all the strength I could muster.
It took me almost an hour for me to completely remove the threads and was able to pull out the mortal trapped inside the silky threads of the Arachnid, revealing the lady figure of an unconscious woman who I think is in her 30's. I placed my hand on her chest, and was relieved when I felt her heart still beating.
I quickly opened the sling bag that I'm always wearing around my shoulder, and pulled out a vial that contains the healing potion that I made myself. I carefully slid a few drops on its slightly opened mouth. It didn't take that long before I heard her cough and slowly opened her eyes.
"W-Where am I?" she said, still feeling dazed, as I helped her stand up on her feet.
"There's no time for me to explain. You better get out of here as quickly as you can." I politely said, in which she gladly followed.
With the lady nowhere to be found now, I decided to go to the next victim near to me. I was just about to pull out the threads that's covering its body when I heard a shrilling shriek coming from a girl.
"SOMEONE! HELP ME!"
That shriek made me turn to its direction to where I think I heard it from.
"T-That was the daughter of the duke that governs this city." I heard Lucas explain..
Okay, at this point, I admit that I suddenly felt this boiling rage slowly filling though my veins as I came to know that Lucas even used an innocent child for his revenge.
Just… unbelievable!
I hurriedly carried the victim that I was about to remove the threads earlier and passed it over to Lucas, along with two vials of healing potion.
"Both of you are now in-charge of removing these threads from the victims and make them drink these healing potions for them to get better quickly. As soon as they regained their strength, make them flee this place, got it?" I instructed in between my breaths.
Lucas and Johanne answered me with their nods.
After that brief instruction, I swiftly ran my way towards the direction where I heard that voice while the wand was being generated on my right palm. As I shortened my distance with it, I found myself in another cavern, where I witnessed a huge monster slowly making its way towards a little girl which was trapped in this monster's huge web, impaling her to move.
I wasted no time and casted a level 3 air spell.
"Incipio Serpus Malum!."
After I casted the spell, it created a large ball of wind particles which soon hit my target. As soon as it made contact with the monster, it created a light blast which made the Arachnid create unnecessary weird cries.
Once it regained its stance, its blood-shot eyes turned to look at my direction. With its swift movement, it started to charge at me which shortens our gap as seconds passed by..
I didn't dare to move and instead waited patiently as this huge Arachnid made its way towards me. The moment that I made sure it is just beneath my reach, I casted another level 3 air spell:
"Aeris Slash!"
I tightly gripped my wand with both of my hands and made an incredible leap several feet above the ground. As I felt my body descend, I finally released the air that I gathered previously in the form of a white vertical line which instantly hit my enemy.
A few moments after my spell made contact with the monster, its body was perfectly sliced into two, which caused its blood to spurt all over the place. Luckily, both me and the kid were spared from being covered by it.
Right, the girl!
Once I made sure that I killed the Arachnid, I hurriedly went towards the girl and removed her out of the monster's web. As soon as she was freed from it, she suddenly hugged me tightly as I heard her sob.
"Thank you! I was so scared earlier, I thought I would die!" she said in between her sobs which soaks the fabric of my dress with her tears.
"It's okay. You're safe now." I reassured her.
"Let's get you out of here, shall we?"
The girl stopped hugging me at this point and slowly nodded its head.
As we were about to go out of the Arachnid's chamber hand in hand, I suddenly felt something moving behind us. When I tried to check what it was, my eyes instantly widened at the sight of the Arachnid in its perfect form once again, and that made the girl beside me shriek once again.
What even surprised me more is the fact that it's not alone anymore, but there are now two of its kind standing now before our eyes.
What. The. Heck
