Chereads / The Known Unknown / Chapter 10 - 10

Chapter 10 - 10

Amayra couldn't sleep that night. The next day was going to be officially her first day in the academy. She was beyond nervous and the fact that Axel may have her pendant didn't make it any easier for her. She was lying on her bed mindlessly looking at the ceiling and thinking about her dad.

I miss him..

She was lost in her thoughts when she heard a faint noise. It sounded like a thump. She glanced at her clock.

3 am..Who could be there...?

She jerked up and pulled out her pocket knife from beneath her pillow. She was alone in her room and there was a guard on the main gate of the dorm building. That means...

It has to be from the garden.

"oomph.."

She heard it again, but this time it was a bit louder. It seemed like someone landed on the floor from a height.

Amayra got up to her feet and scrambled towards the window. The window covered almost the whole wall. She pushed the curtains to a side and slid the glass panel of her window. The room's window opened in the garden behind the building.

The cool breeze immediately hit her face.Amayra could hear the rustling of trees. She glanced outside but was met with darkness. She squinted her eyes desperately trying to see through the darkness. At that very moment she felt a presence. Now, she was sure someone was there..so close to her. Her heart was beating faster and faster thinking about the possibilities of who might be out there. Amayra held her breath and waited for someone to come and pounce upon her. After what felt like a minute or two, she heard a flick followed by yellow light...from a lighter. In the light of that lighter, she saw a shadow falling over the pavement.

That means that person is near the adjacent wall.

It clearly was a man. It seemed like that person had spiky hairs and a sharp jaw. He was tall and well built too.He moved his free hand through his hairs making them look more disheveled and spiky. At least that was all she could make it from seeing that silhouette for a few seconds and then...he was gone. She stood there at her window hearing the fading footsteps too confused to grasp what happened just now.

No, she wasn't afraid. She knew that she was in danger even before she came to this town. But after this event ,she was confused as hell. She could tell that he was aware of her presence because firstly, even with the sound of wind, it was impossible to not hear her rugged breathing and secondly, he lit the lighter intentionally. He didn't light a cigarette or she would have known by its smell and by the looks of it, he already knew his way out of here.

If he didn't want to hurt her, then what the hell was that person doing in girl's dormitory or more specifically outside her room, at this hour of night.

WHO WAS HE?
