When Maya came back to dorm that day, she found Amayra sleeping. For once, she was glad that she doesn't have to converse with her new roommate.
Maya too, changed her clothes and went to bed. At midnight, she heard some sounds but ignored them and went to sleep.
"No."
Someone's scream pierced through the silence. Maya immediately took her pocket knife from under her pillow and stood up. She silently switched on the table lamp and carefully checked the room and bathroom hoping a thief or burglar.
"No...please...No".
She heard it again. But this time she knew where this voice was coming from.
She silently tip toed to the other corner of the room and peeked at Amayra.
Amayra was all covered with sweat. Her face was wet with tears striking down her cheeks and an unreadable expression etched on her face.
"No..please.."
She screamed again.
Maya didn't know what to do.
Should I wake her?
Should I call someone?
Maybe I should hug her.
She slowly lifted up Amayra's blanket, took a hold of her shoulders firmly and shook them slightly. When it didn't affect her, Maya started shaking her body a little fiercely.
"Amayra..Amayra..wake up...wake up.."
Maya tried to wake her up but that was of no use.
At last Maya poured water in a glass and threw it on Amayra's face. Amayra jerked up and sat on her bed.
"Are you alright?" Maya asked.
"Yeah..uh..I guess that was a nightmare.I am fine now.Thanks"
"No problem.. Are you sure you are fine? You were crying."
"Yeah..I am sure..thanks though."
"Alright.. Just tell me if you need anything."
Maya went to her bed and lied down. Though there was no sleep anywhere near her. The only thing she could think about was the girl sleeping in her room.
