The road filled with trees as they pass by, the cold air trickling on my skin making me shiver. It's been three days since Ezra came over to talk, it's been three days and I couldn't look at him as he drives.
"Hey," he called out. "You okay?" nodding my head and resting it on the window not even once looking at his face.
"I'm fine Eli, just dazed." the ride went by smoothly as we reached the house, his parents were on the porch to greet us. I helped Eli unpack before aimlessly walking around the halls, the familiar electric blue eyes met mine and I looked away. Slapping my hands to my cheeks feeling the warmth spread, Ezra smiled and hurried down. The familiar warmth of his chest on my back letting me breathe out air that I was holding in, his head nuzzling on my shoulder as his hair tickling my skin.
"You seem so down today, do you want to stay in bed?" without an answer he knew, he knew better to just carry me back to the room, drag the duvet and lay there. The sheets were softer than his at home, the place more quiet than I thought it would be. His arms wrapping around my waist as he tugs me close, I run my fingers through his hair earning a satisfied groan from his lips as he traced circles on my hip.
"Ezra told me he loves me."I blurted out, the awkward silence in the room fell as he shifted curling himself and tightening his grip.
"Do you?" looking down at him as he stared up at me.
"Eli, I love you not him." he moved hovering over me, foreheads touching each other as his green orbs stared into my soul. Breath hitching in my throat as his brushed against my lips, noses touching each other.
"Look me in the eye," he growled. "Don't avoid me." heading his words resisting the urge to close my eyelids as he continued to gaze into my eyes, my hands unconsciously cup his cheek feeling him lean against it. As he stroked the strands of hair sprawled out on the pillow, tilting up to put a small kiss on the tip of his nose his cheeks got beet red. It was moments like that made my heart beat faster, that made the butterflies flutter, that made my brain stutter from him; from the thoughts of him, his warmth, his arms, and his love.
It was rare to see him barely smile, the grazing sounds of utensils clattering on plates and the high tension silence. Looking up from my lashes eyes meeting Ezra's for a brief second giving a shy smile before starting a conversation with his mom, feeling Eli's hand graze against my thigh I place my own on top of his giving his hand a firm squeeze leaning lightly on his arm.
"Now that you mention it, Ezra talks about you a lot Lily." Tom blurted out Ezra trying to cut over him.
"Yeah he does a lot." Eli blankly uttered eyes shooting daggers at Ezra in front of him, hitting the top of his hand and glared at him.
"How long have you two been together Elliot?" Stella asked taking a sip of her wine eyeing her son as he just sighed.
"I don't want to talk about it." he murmured, the hand he had under the table grasping onto mine as I held his.
"Eli and I are taking things slow as of now." Stella peered from her glass while Tom lifted an eyebrow, diverting the conversation back to tell tales of Ezra and Eli's childhood.
"Ezra have you ever thought of getting a girlfriend?" Tom bluntly asked, looking up at Ezra who was already staring at me. Raising my eyebrows as the grip Eli had grew tighter, wincing at it shoving his hand away he glared letting out a sigh,
"No, not really. I'm more comfortable at seeing the one I love happy than force myself dad."
"You should be." Eli whispered loud enough for me to hear, I slammed a hand to the table standing up from him leering at his face
"Eli! Can you stop please!"
"I'm not even doing anything!' he snarled back dropping his utensils on the plate, not even looking at me.
"What the hell is wrong with you Eli?!" he ruffled his slick back hair strands falling everywhere, eyes still darting at Ezra who sat there mouth gape.
"Oh I don't know Lilian! Maybe it's the fact that I know Ezra loves you, or maybe it's the fact that I can't believe you told him you love him too." he practically growled at me the once comforting green orbs judging my own as I shake my head at him, biting back the urge to shed even a single tear for such a petty issue.
"Were you even actually listening to me talk Eli?! I told you that I turned him down!"
"I know what you said but am I not good enough?!" his voice croaked still in a low groan but it croaked. "I know that you didn't mean it, but it still hurt." chewing on my lower lip as I move away from him eyes not meeting his green ones.
"And here I though you trusted me Eli, I can't do this anymore." a firm grip on my wrist halting my feet to run away, the soft feel of tears resting on my cheeks as they flow down to my jaw. His head looking down at the ground as everyone at the table just fell silent.
"You're not going anywhere." yanking my arm from his grasp walking straight to the door.
"Well I am and away from you apparently."
