Chapter 39 - Chapter 9.9 - The Endgame!

"We're sorry about that folks... We just happened to have some technical difficulties..." Hotaru whispered quietly.

The two continued announcing the game secretly... I don't think they realize we are a few feet apart and it's dead silent. Well, I can't worry about that now, I got mangas to read when I win!

As soon as I prepared for battle, the game started... How convenient timing...

"Awfully good timing for the loading screen to start now after five minutes of announcements," I said in a sarcastic tone, looking as dead as ever.

All Kana replied with was a smile and looked back at the screen.

"Three, two, one, fight!" the announcer duo shouted.

I tried my best to grab the first weapon that spawned but was sandwiched by Kana and Hotaka.

"Oh, you're not getting your way this time!" Kana said as both she and Hotaka closed in on me.

I was about to dodge in place for the invincibility frames but the heavens decided to spawn the weapon on top of me. How lucky was that?! And a spear too!

I used my newfound weapon and spun like a top at lightning speed and make some space for me to escape.

"What kinda move even is that?!" Kana exclaimed.

I gave a slight chuckle, "Isn't it obvious?! It's the lightning Beyblade move, of course!" I jokingly said.

"Stop joking around and get serious!" Hotaka said as he rushed me with a lance.

This looks easy enough to jump over! One, two, three— Ouch!

"Gotcha!" Surprisingly, instead of charging forward, Hotaka predicted my movements and attacked at a diagonal angle towards me. I gotta admit, this dude is learning. Wait, this is no time for praise, I gotta get out of this!

After what felt like days of hitting me, I managed to slip away from Hotaka and took to the skies. It didn't take long for the two to start following me.

I waited for the right moment and spun my spear like a helicopter towards the enemy. "Woah! You can do that?!" Hotaka said in amazement. Hotaka was too busy admiring the spinning weapon, "Move out of the way" Kana said before pushing Hotaka away from the spear. Wait, why would she need to do that? Aren't we all at full health?

One, two, three... Seven hit combo?! A freaking helicopter move hits you seven times?! Since when?!

"Go... Win this for us..." Kana said to Hotaka as she fell off the stage. A tear dropped from Hotaka's eyes as he was filled with anger and hatred.

"Woah, calm down. It's not like she actually died." I told Hotaka to try and lower his anger.

"No! She killed me! So take revenge for me!" Kana said as she moved closer towards Hotaka.

Okay, this is becoming very weird. Now, what card do I play in this situation? Should I intentionally lose and increase their bond, or do I beat them and read manga all night...?

As I was lost in my own thoughts yet again, Hotaka charged at me with all his might, thrusting his sword into my body. I really need to stop spacing out like that.

"Akari, no!" Hotaru shouted.

"It's okay! She's still alive!" Haruka assured Hotaru by screaming even louder...

"Die!" Hotaka chased me out of the stage to confirm the kill.

"You fool!" I screamed while I used his body to climb back up, dodging his sword slash, and jumped back on.

I looked back and saw Hotaka, dumbfounded, Hotaru and Haruka, eyes filled with happiness. Of course, Kana too. She was so surprised that her jaw dropped. It was like time slowed down...

...

...

...

I made my decision. Instead of jumping back on stage, I dropped back down below Hotaka and uppercut him back up as he saw me fall. The expressions they were wearing changed in an instant. Kana, dropped her jaw, even more, Hotaka almost dropped his controller. My teammates were surprised and quickly started screaming at the top of their lungs.

"Round, Over! Blue Team wins!" the game announced.

...

...

after that announcement, the room went silent. I knew I had to do something about this.

"Kana deserves to sleep in her own room." I declared. "B-but—" "No, it's her room. Therefore, she sleeps in it." I interrupted Hotaru.

"Thanks for letting us at least have a good battle, I surrender on behalf of my team. Congratulations, you two." I shook Kana and Hotaka's hands.

"We won!" Kana's eyes were filled with tears as she hugged her teammate.

"Not fair! I wanna sleep in your room too!" Hotaru gripped onto Kana's shoulder.

"Sure you can!" Kana said with a smile that can make any man's heart race. How would I know? Well, mine certainly did. And it's obvious from Hotaka's expression of jealousy of Hotaru.

"Looks like we'll be sleeping in the guest room, huh?" Haruka said while she slung her arm around my body and rested her arm on my shoulder.

"Yeah, I guess we're just meant to be together." I said as I smiled and gave her a suggestive wink.

"Woah, there. You're gonna make me break up with Yuji." Haruka blushed.

"Haha, I'm joking." I said as I hit her lightly on her torso.

In the end, I couldn't get the room full of manga, but at least I got to bring these two even an inch closer together. Sleeping in a guest room doesn't seem so bad... I'm just happy there's no drama anymore...
