Ever felt like waking up and doing your "normal" daily routine unconsciously? Like, you left your true self still lying on the bed while your physical body was already up and making coffee.
Then, an accident came and your true self was sucked back into consiousness but now you have zero idea of what was happening. Like, why am I holding a hot cup of coffee... while im peeing!? Now, the series of accidents and confusion were about to happen.
Complicated and nonsense? Exactly.
"So, where are the drinks?" said the short woman in front of me. Her puzzled face was answered by my even more puzzled face. "Forget it. The program is about to start, let's go!"
She pulled my hand and we forced our way through the sea of people ahead us. Cameras were flashing, a lot of shuttering, and screaming incoherent words that seemed like praises to a holy being.
"Here." we stopped midway and she turned back to take a look at me. "Here's a good spot to take pictures. Now, we wait. Hail the King!"
Still dumbfounded, I stood there in the center of screaming people. I looked at the woman beside me and I noticed her ID card and it says... "Kayla"
What? She was Kayla? Like the officemate Kayla? There was only one Kayla in the office!? More questions flooded my busy mind and my head started hurting once again. The intolerable pain made me hold on to her shoulders even though I was not intending to.
"Hey, John. What is happening? are you sick?" she asked with her soft voice. Her gentle touch seemed familiar but in a way that I did not like it to be.
"Partner?" the words fell out of my mouth as I tried to open my eyes. I saw the concerned look on her face and for some reason, I felt anger overflowing my blood. The pain was fading away yet I could still feel my blood boiling.
"Yes, I am here, John." her words made my breathing unstable. I felt like crumbling on to wherever I stood. What's the worse thing than being flooded by thoughts? by having none.
I have to run away from here for "I cannot be seen."
"What was that? you, what?" I heard her speak but my eyes were already looking past behind her. I craned my neck on my side and took a long glance from the buildings away from here, the alleys and stands.
I got it. I got everything now. Everything is... messed up.
Yes, that was my conclusion from all the weirdness that was happening to me. That was all I could think of! I didn't choose this job so I would think! That was beyond me!
'There he is' I whispered to myself. I could still hear the woman beside me calling my name but I already set off. I sewn threw the sea of people once again to reach an alley where a very suspicious looking man was standing.
My thoughts were being sorted out as I take a step. My breathing was still hard but more stable now. I glanced around me and took my time to observe everything.
This sea of people were fanatics of some sort that I never once knew existed. This town square was large enough to house hundreds of thousands people in it with a high stage erected by the front. This never existed before, too.
Monarchy was long dead in this country that i knew or at least, that was how it used to be. My head started hurting again as well as my feet and my body that kept on crashing against other people. That's enough thinking for now.
"Hey!" a person called out to me when I bumped on to them but I never glanced back. That was until he grabbed my back collar and pulled me to him.
Fear crippled my chest. All my strength disappeared into nothingness as he faced me unto him. I saw his bald head first then his scary face. He easily lifted me up like that was his hobby or something and moved me closer to him. I could smell his sweat or maybe not just his but everybody's sweat around him.
Wave of discomfort itched on to my body and suddenly, I wanted to kick things or smash something with my hands but alas, I could only sigh.
He faced me and looked closely. "Glory to the King!"
I felt like passing out while being hung by this man. Everyone's eyes were on me and this only made me even more scared. "Glory to the King?" I whispered. My heart was raging as he raised his eyebrows on me. I cleared my throat and said "Glory to the King!" with all the enthusiasm I could fake.
He dropped me and everyone's hands were raised to shout the phrase. I exhaled as I regain my composure and glanced back to the direction of the alley. He was still there, gladly. I stepped out of the crowd and raced down my way to him.
He pulled me into the alley as I catch my breath, clutching on my knees. "Everything-" I said, still trying to breathe properly.
"Uh-hmmm?" he held my back and rubbed it a little. This man couldn't be a hit and run suspect.
"Yes, everything is-" phew! Speaking takes a lot of air, doesn't it? I blew one loud and deep breath before standing up.
"Weird." I said. Finally able to finish my sentence. I heard his approval. "Everything is messed up." He replied again with the same tone.
Thoughts came rushing back to me. Everything that happened this morning seemed to flash back in my eyes. "I- I don't understand. It's weird, everything is."
"It is." I heard him said with an accent I am not very familiar of.
"You. The dead guy. The office. The King." I listed down for him even though he was not asking for it. "Everything."
"Everything, indeed." He said again. His calm demeanor helped me relax my shaking bones. Finally, I was able to be composed.
"What-" I stuttered just when I thought I was finally fine. "What should we do?"
"We'll talk-" his words were cut and I looked at his face to find him mouth-open and eyes widen by surprise. "Run!" He grabbed me on my arms and ran as fast as we could.
I heard a sound of liquid falling from the ground together with what sounded like a plastic. Another pair of foot was running behind us but I got too scared to look back.
Anxiety surrounded my head as we ran aimlessly. I haven't got the time to look back earlier so I have no idea who the heck were we running away from. My knees felt like giving up from all these running but remembering the look on his scared face earlier made me not to stop.
"What is happening!?" I shouted at him. "Who was that!?"
I heard him curse so blatantly. "Keep running!" I closed my eyes and just ran straight. I was getting tired and suddenly, the thought of dropping out cold felt so comforting now. "We got'ta get away from you!"
Wait. What!?
