Chapter 59 - Chapter 57

Joan eyed Damien's bloodied face. "Do tell, then. How does it work?"

A crooked smile flashed in Damien's eyes. "Of course, I have a successor that's not you."

Joan's lips drew together in a tight line as frustration bubbled inside of her. She'd finally captured the leader of the Eagles, but was there still no way to take over his gang. "So you're saying…there's a second-in-command."

"Smart girl," Damien chuckled.

"PK, what do I do?" Joan hissed under her breath. She was at a loss for ideas. Damien seemed to be suggesting that there was an infinitely long chain of command in the Eagles. It'd be impossible for her to hunt down each one, and it'd also be impossible to disband the group entirely.

"Calibrating… Calibrating… Calibrating…" PK's voice chimed incessantly. It continued for what seemed like eons. "Calibrating… Calibrating… Calibrating…"

"Calibrate faster, will you?" Joan scoffed. An awkward silence was beginning to emerge among the group. The Grimm brothers, Amarya, Navier, and Damien looked at Joan expectantly, waiting for her to say something in response too Damien's comment.

[Information Found]

A blue pop-up screen emerged before Joan.

[Full Name: Damien Frasier]

[Social Security: 912313423791]

[Phone Number: 6789990378]

[Home Address: XXXX Palmer Ln]

[Parent/Guardian(s): Emily Frasier]

Various details about Damien appeared on the blue screen, which extended and extended, until it hit the floor.

Joan frowned. What could she do with this information? An asterisk by Damien's name caught her eye. "What's the asterisk for?"

"You're a government official. How do you not know?" PK scoffed.

"Hurry up."

"Yes, ma'am. It means there's a warrant out for his arrest."

Suddenly, another blue pop-up screen appears beside Damien's information. And another one. And another one. Screens continued to swarm Joan until she felt as if she were drowning in the overflowing text.

Her eyes flickered over them. It was all personal information about the Eagle's and their gang members. All had a warrant for their arrest.

Navier curiously looked at Rem. Her eyes were unfocused and scanned blank air, as if she were seeing something no one else could.

"Rem, are you okay?" Navier waved his hand in front of Rem's eyes, but they remained unfocused.

With the wall of pop-up screens invading her vision, she was effectively blinded. She couldn't ee anything past the hundreds of profiles regarding the members of the Eagles.

"You-" Joan started. "Your entire gang has a warrant for their arrests."

Damien's head snapped up. "What did you say?" His expression flickered between confusion, doubt, then amusement. "I didn't take you for a joker, Rem."

"I'm not joking." Joan's face was devoid of amusement, and as Damien's eyes examined her face, the smile from his face fell.

"Courtesy to yours truly," PK said. "I turned them in."

"You did what now?" Joan whispered. PK's power baffled her. "If the police disband the Eagles, I won't have a gang to unite!"

PK went silent.

Joan huffed. "You only just now realized that?"

"I'll make an exception."

Joan rubbed her temples. "Oh, please. Stop making excuses. You're just dumb."
