Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 41: The message in the mural

Two men above didn't know the situation below, and Wenbin down the well also didn't know the situation above either. In fact, the Qifeng Mountain has long been exposed to the first ray of sunshine, and the clouds that enveloped it were already dispersed. But they were concentrated on Wenbin who was down the well, so haven't found it.

What about the man down the well, our living immortal Wenbin? Now he's 200 meters' deep underground, it's a basin and it's colder than other places, so it's supposed to be colder down the well here, and it is. From the beginning to the depth of 200 meters, Wenbin Zha had already begun to be a little shivering by the cold. Fortunately, the air current was still there, and the wind that was transported in was mixed with the warm temperature outside, so he can bear it. But he had been hanging in the air for more than two hours and, apart from the pain, some parts of his body had begun to numb.

Wenbin put his head down, try to use the spot light to see the situation below, apart from a pitch of darkness, nothing else. He thought he will see it when reaches the bottom, anyway, he has already come down, no matter what happened he needs a result. About an hour later, the space under the old well became larger and larger. The widest area was nearly five meters. With the help of tactical spotlights, Wenbin saw new changes in the line patterns on these stone walls, the pattern starts to look like a human! There were people hunting and working, and just as he was about to get to the bottom, a huge pattern emerged that didn't match anything he'd seen before:

This pattern is not so much of a man as it is more like a monster, because from the pattern, there is a guy with a human head and a fish body and a group of men and women making obsequies to a man with a human face and a pig's snout and a Unicorn's body and pig's feet. What is this? Wenbin Zha saw it and was surprised because before the invention of ancient writing, people use frescoes to record important facts, generally describing the very important events that had to be recorded in history books at that time. This is what was found in the ancient murals that we later discovered all over the world. What about this one? What does it mean? Is there really such a monster in the world?

Just when he was puzzled by the huge mural in front of him, Wenbin suddenly felt that he had stepped on something. It was no longer the air, but the hard rock! Did he reach the bottom of the well? Wenbin quickly moved his eyes away from the stone wall on the top and lowered his head to see. Sure enough, he is now at the bottom of the well, it would be more appropriate to describe it as an underground river because after looking around, he found from the top of the head about ten meters' distance, space has suddenly become wider.

After initial observation, Wenbin found that right above him was the old well, just like a funnel, but with a wide bottom and a narrow top. Up about 20 meters, the diameter is the same as the wellhead they saw at the beginning. Where a straight man-made track line reached the surface, exposing a tiny point where the mouth of the well was. Wenbin pulled three times the rope as hard as he could, meaning that he had reached the well bottom safely. Yichao above the well saw there was no response for a long time and was worried. Suddenly the rope on his hand moved, he was happy: "Xiong Zhuo, Wenbin Brother has reached to the bottom of the well safely, you can put me down in a while!"

"You are going down too? What about me?"

"You need to stay up, looking, after all, that equipment."

Xiong Zhuo: "..."

After untying the rope from his body, Wenbin Zha began his first exploration of the underground world. There were bare black stones at his feet and no traces of artificial decoration. It looked natural and the front looked like the underground river, and the back is hard rock. The whole ancient well below is an anti- "I" shape, vertical is the ancient well, horizontal is the underground river. It seems that the underground river flows out from the front, and when it reaches the old well, it comes to an end. Instead, such an old well has been opened up artificially. The place where he is standing now is a huge black rock with a large depression in front, looking at that should be a huge current impact here forming the whirlpool. Wenbin imagined in his mind, the depth of the ancient well is 270 meters, then space below was still full of water yesterday, if leader Wang and the girl were really down here, after all this time, is there any chance they'll survive? Wenbin looked up once more at the exit of the ancient well and decided to look forward.

Fortunately, tactical spotlights are really useful. At least in this underground world, Wenbin's sight can reach about 50 meters. In the beginning, shallow water is still flowing in the river channel, Wenbin tried to shout a few times: "Leader Wang, Wang are you there?" In this empty cave, accompanied by his shouting are waves of echo spreading inside for a long time before it disappeared. If they were there, they would have heard it, however, shouted several times and got no response. Wenbin had to keep walking forward.

"What is this?" Wenbin Zha found that there were also murals on the wall below the cave, and they were one after another, just like the comic books we read. These murals were no longer carved in an ancient well, it's drawn in white lines. Although it's partially eroded by water and various mosses, it's so large that you can sort of seeing it without the detail.

The first mural was of a white line with a sharp point sticking out of it.

Wenbin puzzled, can only keep moving forward, and then saw another mural.

The second mural: almost exactly the same as the one before it, a wavy white line with a sharp point on it. But this one has several extra things, in the circle of the overturned white line there were some men with weapons in their hands, but they looked defeated. Outside the white circle, there was a man with eight legs, three heads and six arms, and he was carrying a knife, an axe, and a sword, is significantly larger than the rest men. In the same way, behind him stood a group of smaller men with weapons, who seemed to be his subordinates, brandishing weapons in their hands in preparation for an attack.

Looking at this mural, Wenbin understood a bit of it, to say who made this mural he certainly did not know, but the characters on the mural he knew, that eight feet, three heads and six arms character, is called Chiyou!

The Legend described Chiyou was the chief of the ancient tribe of Jiuli, the God of War. In historical records, it is being said that Chiyou had fought Yan Emperor because he was so good at fighting that he later defeated Yan Emperor.

After Yan Emperor being defeated, he turned to another tribal chief, Yellow Emperor, who joined forces with Yellow Emperor to fight Chiyou. Chiyou was armed and strong, did not take them seriously at all, and led eighty-one subordinates against Yellow Emperor, and finally launched a fierce battle in Zhuolu. Yellow Emperor can't fight with Chiyou, so he asked Immortals to help him. Chiyou was eventually killed by Yellow Emperor, beheaded and buried, his head turned into a grove of blood maple trees. After Yellow Emperor regarded Chiyou as the God of War.

So if the man standing outside is Chiyou in this mural, then isn't the man inside the white line the Yellow Emperor? So what's this mural about? Isn't it the Legendary Battle of Zhuolu!

Looking at the scene described on the wall, Wenbin immediately deduced that it was a passage of meaning. Yellow Emperor, Yan Emperor and Chiyou were probably the oldest three ancestors in China, leaving this kind of mural in that time which was full of myths and legends, well, that's not surprising. After reading, he carefully continued to move forward, sure enough, a third mural was in front.

This mural depicts the same scene like the one before it. Originally, only a sharp object had been turned into a big mountain, soaring into the sky. On the top of the mountain, there was a woman-like hand holding a white thread, connecting the top of the hill. The original characters in the mountain also changed, some animals began to appear. A person in the front, followed by the bear, the wolf, the leopard, the Eagle, the Dragon and other animals, but these animals were anthropomorphized, armed with weapons, they began to fight with Chiyou outside. After Wenbin read it, this should be the Legendary Battle of Zhuolu, telling that section of Yellow Emperor led the Totem tribe to fight Chiyou. The woman in the sky attracted the interest of Wenbin Zha, Yellow Emperor is said to have the help of Immortals, is this woman an immortal? Then what's that white thread in her hand?

When Wenbin was thinking about it, he found the biggest problem, that originally there was only a sharp point and now it has become a mountain! He walked back a few steps, shocked! God! This mountain is the Qifeng Mountain he saw during the daytime, which was hidden in fog! How can this be explained? Everyone knows that the war is called the battle of Zhuolu because the ancient battlefield of the war has always been said to be in the present day Zhuolu County of Hebei Province, which is so far away from Szechwan, why the mural described the war was in the Qifeng Mountain?
