Chapter 31 - The Spirits

"Hmm? What's so soft?"

Opening my eyes a pair of silvery blue eyes peeked down at me. She smiled shyly, her ears twitching as my hand touched her face.

"I thought..."

I couldn't believe my eyes. I closed them a few times, but she was still there. How?

"You buried my body, and I'm thankful for that. It was sweet of you to take such good care of me, but you can't get rid of me so easily it seems. You're stuck with me, and I don't plan on leaving. Mostly cause your blood makes me feel funny and I like it."

"You're too innocent. My blood is an ass."

She tilted her head and tapped her jaw.

"So what are you now?"

"A ghost? A spirit? Something that floats and can't touch people much. Though I can touch you all I want!"

You... seriously stop being so blunt you innocent weird elf!

I sat up, looking around. We were at the cave entrance.

"Sadly, I gotta go back in. Something in there is important to me."

"Kay, imma go with you."

As I began to walk back into the cave I felt a pair of slender arms wrap around my neck.

"Myria?"

"I'm weightless. Just let me, please?"

She peeked around my face, so I pat her head before walking inside.

"Myria, I'm gonna be talking to someone. It's someone important, so don't freak out."

"Mhmm."

"You're actually gonna talk to me right now, Syrus?"

"So my blood?"

"Guess it saved her. I gotta say though, why the HELL is it crowded in here?!"

...what?

"There are two other things in here sleeping! They just suddenly appeared when you were asleep."

"Th-they're... Xeron's spirits."

"Xeron?"

"Xero. Xeron is Xero, the prince of the dark elven kingdom."

"Shut up! You mean you're a prince? With TWO spirits sleeping in your body?! Can you talk to them?"

"I'm not Xero though. You know I probably can't communicate with them."

"You're not Xero?"

Myria squeezed me a little, bringing me back to reality.

"Ah well... I was never Xero to begin with. You've been friends with me the whole time though, it's Syrus."

I felt her nuzzle into my hair.

"Cool. Xero isn't as cool as Syrus. Hehe."

"Lilly, should I even try? They could become hostile..."

"Well, maybe. I'd say try it, cause it's cramped and I'm uncomfortable."

"Fine. Efreeta. Umbra."

I stopped walking and began to wait. Nothing happened...

"Lilly?"

"They left. But where?"

At that moment two bright flashes went off. One red, the other purple. Sitting in the air were a pair of twinkling lights.

"Well there they are. Damn bright though."

"Ah sorry."

An elegant voice came from the lights. In an instant, two beautiful women stood before me.

Efreeta looked exactly as one would expect a flame wielding fighter type would. Pixie cut blazing orange hair, sparkling orange eyes and adorable freckles lining both cheeks. Her fists were wrapped tight and kind of glowed.

Umbra, on the other hand, was mature and elegant. Long black hair met her waist, covering one of her misty purple eyes. She carried a small hand fan, keeping it in front of her mouth.

"So you're the one he gave his body to?"

Efreeta leaned close, her chest barely held within her fighters garb. She's a lot bustier than one would have expected.

Umbra closed her fan and tapped her hip with it.

"You've impressed us, hence we appeared here. Xeron was a brave and kind child, and now we believe you to be a decent person to take over here. We wish to form a true bond to the one we see before us."

A voice behind me chimed in.

"So you two want to kiss Syrus too?"

In an instant, both spirits had soft pink tints to their faces.

"Myria doesn't understand. I kissed her to put my blood in her body."

"Whatever, you just need us to ingest your blood for this bond, correct? How would it even work? We are spirits, so touching you isn't even a fully possible..."

Umbra stopped talking as Efreeta came close to me. Her face was blazing as she kissed me, biting my lip open herself.

She pulled back, her red face in her hands.

"Umbra, he can touch us. That girl is a spirit, and God his kiss felt really nice."

A moment later, she knelt down.

"Your blood is so weird! What the hell did ya do to me?!"

I smiled softly and leaned down, rubbing her back slowly.

"That is the usual reaction. Apparently it is supposed to do that."

As I tried to stand up, I felt Umbra's fan catch my jaw. She turned me towards her, licking the small drop of blood from my lip.

At this point, she turned on her heel, making a soft noise. I wiped my lip, my own face burning.

"I wasn't prepared for this... Nera and Yumi are gonna be shocked."

"Syrus, your little harem just tripled, just about. How are you feeling about that?"

"Strangely, I'm fine with it. Is it normal to have so many?"

Umbra tapped my shoulder.

"There are rumors of some men having up to twenty spouses. This land doesn't produce much men after all. Women are... everywhere. And I need a favor. As does Efreeta. But not here... not this nasty cave."

I scratched my head... oh shit.
