Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: You’re Not Enough

"Do you have a death wish?" I said to the man holding the broken knife by the handle.

"What the fuck!" The man said in disbelief as he looked at his broken knife. I then grabbed him by the neck and raised him in the air….

I then flicked him on the chest and sent him flying onto a parked taxi cub, causing him to crash through its windshield.

Even with the recent, massive, increase in my strength, I still was not powerful enough to go against Theós and kill a human. Thus, I had to exert a considerable amount of strength just to strike him as I did.

'I may not be powerful enough to kill a human, but I can definitely harm them now…perhaps even to the point of near death?' I thought to myself.

I then turned around and asked the scared young woman behind me, "Are you okay?" Although I was worried about the wellbeing of this woman, I had but only one thought in my mind.

'Where the fuck is Axelia?'

One hour ago:

"Good morning Ace." Elaine said enthusiastically.

"Good morning ma'am. Going for a walk again?" Ace said as though this was a conversation they have had many times.

 "Yap." Elaine answered.

"Won't you have breakfast first?" Ace asked.

"No thanks, I'll get something to eat at my usual spot…and please, don't follow me around. It's creepy!" Elaine said as she walked out the door.

 "Archer…" Ace said out loud.

Archer then got up and proceeded to tail Elaine as usual. For the past 3 weeks this has been Elaine's routine. Every morning she would go out for a walk around the block. Each time she would take the same path.

A majority of the world had slowly come to accept Elaine as a victim; after numerous interviews and a few public statements, people began to see the full picture. Although, not everyone had accepted the reality of Elaine being a victim in the whole matter. Many still harbored hatred for the numerous loved ones that they had lost.

With Grayson gone, people had no place to direct their hatred. The closest one to Grayson was of coarse Elaine. This was the closest way people thought they could hurt me. This is why Ace had Archer following Elaine wherever she went.

Of course, this was all expected, hence the existence of Axelia. Axelia existed for the sole purpose of protecting Elaine from such people.

"Good morning Tom." Elaine said with a bright smile as she walked into Tom's diner.

"Morning Elaine…punctual as usual!" Thomas said smiling back as he finished wiping the tables. Thomas was an old man in his 70s who owned a diner a few distance away from the safe house. Despite his old age, the man looked like fit 40 year old man.

For the past 3 weeks, Elaine would stop by Thomas' diner every morning before anyone arrived, and got herself breakfast. Eventually, they had come to form a good friendship.

"You know I can't properly start my day without having your infamous burgers." Wendelyne said still keeping her bright smile.

"Infamous! Aaaah, that hurts." Thomas said pretending to have been struck by an arrow to the heart.

"Hahaha Tom, you're so dramatic. You know I'm only here cause your burgers are the best there is." Elaine said with a chuckle.

"You sure know how to flatter me. You get extra fries today for that one." Thomas said with a warm smile. 10 minutes later, he came out of the kitchen holding a plate in his hand and on the plate was the so-called infamous burger.

"Thank you Thomas," Elaine said gratefully.

Elaine then slowly enjoyed the mouth-watering burger and was finally ready to take her leave. Unbeknownst to anyone, Axelia had been beside her the whole time, as she always had been for the past 3 weeks.

"Thank you for the wonderful meal Thomas." Elaine said then left a rather large tip on the table before leaving. In these repetitive walks, Axelia would always scout the area for any potential attackers nearby.

Since Elaine would take these walks every morning, without fail, it was easy for assassins or any other such attackers to know when and where she would be.

With Axelia's heightened senses, she could easily spot these attackers and knock them out even before they got the chance to confront Elaine. Because of this, Elaine believed she was completely safe walking in public as she was.

(BOOM!!)

A deafening sound went off as a 50-cal was fired 2,000m away from Elaine's position. Axelia was quick to react and met the massive bullet halfway, stopping it with her hand. She then proceeded to confront the sniper personally.

Archer was also worried after hearing the gunshot. Seeing that Elaine was already close to the safe house, he left to investigate.

It was at this moment that Elaine was completely vulnerable for the first time. As she was walking back to the safe house, a young man stopped her in her tracks and pulled out a knife on her.

"Wh-, who are you?" Elaine asked with a stutter.

"No one really, just a man looking for justice…. You killed my mother; it isn't right for you to casually be walking around, smiling, when she is dead because of you! Today, we get justice!" The man holding a knife said with tears in his eyes then swung his knife repeatedly at Elaine.

Elaine then raised her hands to defend herself and ended up getting cuts all over her arms.

"I'LL KILL YOU!" The man with a knife passionately shouted at the top of his lungs.

With tears still rolling down his face he then thrust his knife forward, finally ready to stab Elaine in the heart, but suddenly…

A tall, young man with black flames coming out of his body appeared in front of him and blocked the knife before it could stab Elaine. The blade of the knife shattered upon colliding with this man's stomach. A look of disbelief and horror appeared on the face of the man now holding the broken knife.

"Do you have a death wish!" I said to him with a murderous look on my face. My death aura fell upon him like a ravenous dragon, eating away his will with each passing second.

"Wha-what are you!" The man holding the broken knife asked whilst trembling.

 "Your reaper." I said coldly.

I then grabbed him by his neck and raised him in the air.

 "Grayson STOP!" Elaine cried out.

I then sent the man crashing into the windshield of a nearby car, crippling him in the process. I quickly turned around after to check on Elaine.

"Are you okay?" I asked Elaine, wondering where Axelia was.

I then looked down at her hands and see blood dripping down from the numerous cuts she had received. The fire around my body blazed fiercely upon seeing the cuts on Elaine's hands.

Everything around me, apart from Elaine, began to decay. I then turned back to look at the man that did this to her and immediately made a decision in my head.

 'This vermin has to pay!'

"Grayson don't!" Elaine said to me, grabbing my arm with her bleeding hands.

"He only did this because of what we did to him. He's just upset, just like how you are now. We are the ones that hurt him first. Please, don't hurt him any more than we already have." Elaine pleaded sincerely.

The black flames around my body slowly disappeared.

I then opened a gate beneath her feet and she immediately appeared next to Ace.

"Ace will handle the rest." I said out loud, slightly less enraged.

I then took one last look at the man that attacked Elaine and chose to leave him there.

'Hopefully he will bleed out.' I thought to myself with a smile, then proceeded to locate Axelia.

I then teleported to her location, appearing in an apartment on the 24th floor of a building 2,000m from where I was. I then found Axelia holding a well-built, black man in the air by the neck.

"Master!" Axelia said out loud then dropped the man on the floor. I then spotted an M107 sniper rifle strategically placed next to the window and understood what was happening.

"You left Elaine alone…the one thing I told you not to do. Because of that, she got hurt!" I said to Axelia sternly.

"What! I didn't mean to…I- I was only gone for a short while…I didn't- I didn't think anything would happen to her!" Axelia said in a panic.

"You could have easily disarmed this nuisance then quickly gotten back to Elaine, but I see now…you're not enough." I said to Axelia coldly.

"Master!! It won't happen again…I promise!" Axelia cried out.

"So, he failed." The man said underneath his breath.

Before, the man couldn't see Axelia, so to him, he was just randomly being raised in the air by an invisible force. Now however, he saw some random guy and a tailed shadow before him.

Despite seeing the scene before him, the man remained calm.

"Wait, I know you! You…You killed my daughter!" The man said, anger now boiling within him.

He then got up and slowly started to walk towards me.

"I don't know what you are, but you better kill me now! Because if you don't, I won't stop coming after you. Not until you know how it feels like to lose someone you love. Once you have realized this, then and only then, will I come to finally kill you as well, and believe me…it will be very slow and very, very painful!" The man said to me, now confidently standing directly in front of me.

"Brrr!" The tailed Lilith suddenly shivered.

 "Something wrong?" Terrifaísteio asked.

"I don't know. I just felt a chill." The tailed Lilith answered.

"On this planet?" Terrifaísteio asked sarcastically.

"I can't explain it either." The tailed Lilith said no longer paying Terrifaísteio any mind.

***

 "Damn!" I said in shock.

The pain and hatred that those words carried were something that I could literally feel. I looked at this man from top to bottom and noticed 3 dog tags around his neck.

 'Military?' I thought to myself.

"Hakuna mtu atakaye omboleza kifo chako! (No one will mourn your death!)" The man said in his native language.

I then grabbed the man's face and burned his eyes.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" The man then dropped to the floor screaming in pain.

"I'm not in the mood to be threatened after the stunt you just pulled…you got balls though." I said to the pitiful man.

"As for you…" I said coldly turning to Axelia.
