The aftermath of the blanket party was chaotic. Multiple officers looked into it and a few calls were made. One of them being the old man who contracted Adam.
"Hello?" [Adam]
The senior officer held a phone to Adam's ear. On the other side, the familiar voice of the old man came across.
"What did you do?" [Old Man]
"Self defense." [Adam]
"...Please tell me in detail." [Old Man]
Adam attempted to explain the situation as best he could. All while the senior officer stood by him.
"...I understand now. Can I speak with your direct superior?" [Old Man]
"He's holding the phone." [Adam]
"Alright." [Old Man]
Motioning that his business was over, the senior officer brought the phone to his ear.
"Staff Sergeant Brooks speaking." [Senior Officer]
Adam could hear the old man's voice come across the phone, but he couldn't quite make out what it was. Although, it probably wasn't that great since the color started to drain from the senior officer's face.
"Yes. Of course, sir. I'll make sure of it. Understood." [Senior Officer]
He closed the phone and turned to Adam.
"Come with me." [Senior Officer]
"Yes sir." [Adam]
Adam was led far away from the tents, or the "barracks" as listed on the pamphlet. Instead, he was taken to another area with a few small black tents. The senior officer then opened one up and motioned for Adam to enter.
"Come on in." [Senior Officer]
Adam nodded. He wasn't sure what to expect inside, but it sure as hell was just a single table and two chairs.
("What is this?") [Adam]
"An interrogation room?" [Krino]
("Don't joke about that.") [Adam]
The senior officer followed behind Adam, making sure the tent was fully closed upon entering. Afterwards, he pulled up a seat and sat down.
"Are you going to stand all day?" [Senior Officer]
He nodded at the only open chair.
"Oh." [Adam]
Feeling somewhat nervous, Adam quickly sat across from the senior officer.
"Okay, listen here. You're not in trouble. It's just that the guy who's backing you is putting a lot of pressure on us. By us, I mean me." [Senior Officer]
"What?" [Adam]
"What you did last night is already pardoned unofficially. You are now given the choice of staying in the same tent or a single tent for yourself during the remainder of your stay here." [Senior Officer]
"Wait wait wait. What is going on?" [Adam]
The senior officer started drumming his fingers on the table while exhaling through his teeth.
"The big man backing you is angry at your treatment. If we don't do something about it…" [Senior Officer]
He then brought up a hand and made a slicing motion at his neck.
"That's us. By us, I mean most likely me. Either way, you have to pick one." [Senior Officer]
"...Uh-huh." [Adam]
Adam knew the old man was influential, but he didn't think that his reach went this far.
("Do I want my own tent?") [Adam]
"What about Bryan? The other soldiers might blanket party him instead to vent." [Krino]
("...I never thought about that.") [Adam]
Astos scoffed.
"Typical humans. Always so fickle." [Astos]
"Like your willpower?" [Krino]
"How dare you question my willpower?!" [Astos]
"Come back again when your willpower can at least hold a candle to our buddy Askyros over here." [Krino]
("Guys, shut up. I'm trying to think over here.") [Adam]
Sitting in silence, Adam came to a conclusion.
"I'll remain in the same tent." [Adam]
It wasn't much of a problem. For someone like Adam, that was the only answer.
"Are you sure? You may be attacked in your sleep again." [Senior Officer]
"Let them. I just hope you turn a blind eye to what I do to them." [Adam]
The corners of the senior officer's mouth rose slightly.
"You're a tough guy, eh?" [Senior Officer]
"Well, you did make me do a hundred pushups on my first day." [Adam]
"You're right about that." [Senior Officer]
He stood out of the chair and raised a hand to shake it.
"I'm going to hope you don't go too far. We're going to need new bed frames after what you did." [Senior Officer]
"I'll do the best I can so that it doesn't come to that." [Adam]
The senior officer chuckled.
"I'm not too sure about that." [Senior Officer]
He moved around the table to exit the tent, but suddenly paused.
"Ah, before I forget. Remember, this conversation never happened. Understood?" [Senior Officer]
Adam raised a brow.
"What conversation?" [Adam]
"...Atta boy." [Senior Officer]
