Askyros was surrounded by dire wolves, but he didn't panic. In fact, he was calm as can be.
"About twenty of them… Obtaining proof of subjugation is going to be annoying." [Askyros]
The wolves lunged at him, baring their dagger-like fangs. Askyros reacted quickly. He swung his sword with one hand, cutting through the wolves effortlessly.
"Three." [Askyros]
Using his open hand he grabbed another wolf by the throat, crushing it and throwing it at one of its allies.
"Four." [Askyros]
The wolves became wary. They distanced themselves from Askyros, all while circling him with a low growl.
"...Afraid? Fine then." [Askyros]
Gripping his sword, he threw it at a tree.
("Wha-?! What is he doing?!") [Adam]
The sword landed a fair distance away. Enough that the wolves believed that he had been weakened.
"Come." [Askyros]
The pack of wolves pounced on him, making it seem like a pile of wolves. They nawed, clawed, and attempted to tear him apart, but nothing happened.
"..." [Askyros]
Seeing as how his opponents were already attacking, Askyros retaliated.
"Trypiste ecthrous mou, clavem peri." [Askyros]
The ground churned below, causing spikes to sprout and pierce the wolves.
"...Ten." [Askyros]
The spikes retracted, and he turned to the remaining wolves.
"...Ten left." [Askyros]
The last of the pack whimpered and whined at the sight of their fellow comrades. Some lowered themselves as if to make themselves look smaller, and some inched away with fear. Seeing as how half of their pack was annihilated, they made the decision to retreat.
"Escaping? I can't allow that." [Askyros]
Lifting a single foot, he slammed it into the ground.
"Expandi netai, klouvi cavea." [Askyros]
Ice spread out from his feet, covering the floor and expanding into a cage of frost. The ice trapped the wolves inside with Askyros, forcing them to face him.
"...Truly unfortunate." [Askyros]
He moved within an instant. He grabbed his sword from the tree it was lodged in, and dismembered five wolves before they could react.
"Five left." [Askyros]
The wolves were cornered. Seeing as how there was no way out, they all lunged at him one last time.
"..." [Askyros]
As if accepting their rage, Askyros unhinged his armor. The steel plating fell, and the wolves sank their teeth into his skin. Suddenly, his veins began to shine bright blue and the teeth of the wolves sank no further.
"...Flevateinn. Always a surprise." [Askyros]
He raised his arms, gathering all the wolves into his arms.
"..." [Askyros]
The wolves squirmed and clawed at Askyros, but he did not budge. He slowly hugged them tighter and tighter, until an unsettling crunch was heard.
("...I think I kind of want to throw up.") [Adam]
Once all the wolves went limp, Askyros released them. Their bodies hit the ground with a thud, and Askyros re-equipped his armor.
"...What part do I take for proof of subjugation again?" [Askyros]
As he reached for the scroll for instructions, he heard a deafening howl in the air.
("...The hell was that?") [Adam]
"..." [Askyros]
Askyros glanced around, suddenly wary of his surroundings. After a moment of silence, he turned in a certain direction.
"...It's coming." [Askyros]
Tremors shook the ground, and loud footsteps approached the cage. Within the next instant, the ice cage shattered.
"…" [Askyros]
("My god…") [Adam]
A large wolf appeared. One that was the size of a bus, equipped with claws and fangs that gleamed menacingly. It stared down at Askyros with its teeth bared, clearly revealing its intent to kill.
"Hm... That must be the Alpheas wolf." [Askyros]
The next moment turned into a blur. Askyros and the wolf charged at each other, attacking each other with fangs and claws against steel.
"It's… Heavy…!" [Askyros]
The Alpheas wolf slashed at him with its claws, but Askyros blocked with his sword. The attacks packed enough punch to make Askyros' arms tremble, but he stood his ground.
"Trypiste ecthrous mou, clavem peri!" [Askyros]
Activating the same spell as before, he conjured up spikes underneath the wolf. Unfortunately for him, the wolf nimbly evaded the spikes.
"...Annoying." [Askyros]
As if to reply to Askyros' use of magic, the wolf howled and clawed at the air.
"That's…!" [Askyros]
He heard something cut through the air, but Askyros saw nothing. He followed his instincts and dashed to the left, which to his surprise, saved him from something that struck the ground where he once stood.
"...Magic." [Askyros]
