Askyros was now cautious of the wolf. A wolf capable of wielding magic is a much bigger threat than a normal wolf.
"..." [Askyros]
He held his sword up front, watching the Alpheas wolf's every move. After a moment of the two staring each other down, Askyros made the first move.
"Mazevo, pagetou avria." [Askyros]
Frost appeared around his body, creating particles of solid ice around his feet. The wolf gazed at the frost shrouding Askyros with caution, and it decided to throw a few invisible slashes at Askyros.
"..." [Askyros]
Standing still, he allowed whatever was cutting through the air to strike him. The moment the invisible slashes touched the frost, the attacks were deflected alongside the sound of metal scraping against each other.
"...It worked." [Askyros]
The wolf's eyes widened with surprise, but it did not back down. It bared its fangs and pounced on Askyros. Widening its mouth, the wolf attempted to swallow Askyros whole.
"That won't work." [Askyros]
Just like before, Askyros didn't move. Instead, he let the aura of frost keep the wolf's jaws from closing on him.
("Askyros, please stop doing this!") [Adam]
Watching from Askyros' perspective was terrifying. All he could see was the inside of the wolf's maw, which was a scene Adam never thought he'd see.
"..." [Askyros]
He watched the wolf continue to bite down on the aura of frost around him, accompanied by the sound of metal scraping against something.
("...Uh oh. That doesn't look good.") [Adam]
The wolf's teeth began to sink further through the frost aura. At this point, the canines were a few inches away from hitting home.
"A tenacious beast you are." [Askyros]
The frost aura broke, or rather, dissipated. It was as if it had run out of energy and vanished.
("It's closing in!") [Adam]
The jaws snapped shut, but Askyros was ready. He stuck his arms out to stop it from biting down on him, using only his strength to fight back against it.
"Urgh…!" [Askyros]
The weight was incredibly heavy. As a human can bite down with the force of two hundred pounds, in comparison, a beast the size of a bus must have a greater amount of bite force. It would not be an overstatement to say that Askyros was fighting against the bite force of a few tons.
"This…! Heavy…!" [Askyros]
He struggled to speak, cracking his voice with the little amount of words he could utter. His arms were pushed to the limit, practically screaming if it could.
("Get out of there!") [Adam]
Askyros' face turned red, then purple. As he struggled against the wolf's might, his veins began to shine blue.
"Flevateinn…!" [Askyros]
The weight seemed to decrease, not a lot, but it was enough.
"Hrah!" [Askyros]
Letting out a loud grunt, Askyros grabbed the wolf by the teeth and threw it to the side. The wolf tumbled onto the ground, almost immediately righting itself upon impact.
"..." [Askyros]
The two locked eyes with one another, allowing Askyros to take notice of something.
"It's eyes…?" [Askyros]
The wolf's eyes shone a bright blue. As Askyros stared into its eyes, he felt his hairs stand on end.
"Is this… instinct?" [Askyros]
He felt like he should've been frightened, but wasn't. Askyros knew the wolf was a creature he could fight, so he stood his ground.
"I see… You have an unyielding will." [Askyros]
Askyros took a strange stance before the wolf, raising his sword high with only a single hand.
"Come." [Askyros]
As if the wolf had understood him, it lurched backwards in preparation to attack.
("...What are they doing? Actually, what is even happening right now?") [Adam]
The wolf lunged forward, mouth open to bite down on Askyros.
"..." [Askyros]
The next moment seemed like time had stopped. Just barely out of reach, Askyros swung his sword. It seemed slow, but fast. Weak, but strong. The next instant went by in a literal flash. Time sped up to what it once was, and a sudden pressure of wind came from Askyros' slash.
"A testament to you. Unyielding will." [Askyros]
The wolf split in half, along with ground below, and whatever greenery was behind it. Chunks of flesh and blood hit the ground, along with the main body.
"...Hm. It appears that I have come to a problem." [Askyros]
He looked at the corpse around and before him, thinking of a single issue that was now apparent.
"How will I bring this back?" [Askyros]
Suddenly, the surroundings became a blur. Within the next instant, Adam woke up.
"Huh?" [Adam]
Glancing around, he moved his arms in disbelief.
"I'm… back?" [Adam]
Sitting up, there was only one thing he thought of.
("That's it?! I want to know what happens next!") [Adam]
