After answering the phone, Adam heard sounds of shuffling on the other side.
"Just give me a sec!" [???]
"..." [Adam]
The voice on the other end made a few grunting noises, and a few thuds were sounded.
"Phew… That's heavy." [???]
"...You done?" [Adam]
There was no reply.
"Now… What was I doing again? Right! The call!" [???]
The sound of the phone being grabbed echoed through the speaker, and the person spoke again.
"Hello? Are you still there?" [???]
"Yeah… What are you doing, Vamp?" [Adam]
Though the number was different from the usual line, there was no way Adam could mistake his savior's voice.
"I was helping move stuff." [Vamp]
"What are you moving?" [Adam]
"Furniture. Bought a new house a few days ago." [Vamp]
"You got a new house?" [Adam]
"Oh, no. Not me. I bought a new house for you and your sister." [Vamp]
"Huh?!" [Adam]
He shouted in surprise, causing him to cover his mouth. After calming down, Adam lowered his voice.
"Why did you buy us a new house?" [Adam]
"Do you not remember? When I saved you and your sister that day, I promised in front of ALL those reporters that I would take care of you two as if you guys were my own." [Vamp]
"Vamp…" [Adam]
Vamp's actions brought a tear to Adam's eyes, but he blinked them out and tried to keep his voice from wavering.
"Ahem… So, where is it?" [Adam]
"Where's what- Oh, the house? It's actually pretty close to your previous house." [Vamp]
"Like a few blocks away?" [Adam]
"No, no. It's literally across the street." [Vamp]
"Eh?" [Adam]
"I also decided to add a little extra to it too so you can have more rooms. Two guest rooms, four bedrooms, a living room, a family room, a kitchen, a dining room, three bathrooms, a garage, and three floors." [Vamp]
"W-wait! That's too much!" [Adam]
The change was too mind boggling. Thinking back on it, Adam could only recall just a few rooms.
"Don't worry about it! Anyways, I'll have everything ready in another hour or so. Come check it out!" [Vamp]
As soon as he finished his sentence, the call ended with a beep.
("How much did he spend on it…") [Adam]
Putting the phone back into his pocket, he returned to Orion's room.
"Oh, he's back." [Orion]
"Who called you?" [Felix]
"It was Vamp. Apparently I'm getting a new house." [Adam]
"Really? When are you moving out?" [Felix]
"...Eager to see me leave?" [Adam]
"Maybe…?" [Felix]
Shrugging his shoulders, he made an expression as if to say, "Eh, whatever.".
"How harsh. Anyways, I'm probably moving out today." [Adam]
"So soon?" [Felix]
"Yeah, it'll be ready in about an hour." [Adam]
"That's… really fast." [Felix]
"Nevermind that, maybe when I leave, you can take Orion and his sister in." [Adam]
His suggestion made Felix look at Adam with a strained face. It didn't take much to understand that Felix was thinking Adam was stupid.
"Dude… Were you not listening to me before? He's a STRANGER. My brother doesn't even know who Orion is. Unlike you, he hasn't known me since childhood." [Felix]
"Oh… Yeah…" [Adam]
Scratching the back of his head, Adam felt kind of dumb.
"Alright, guys. Chill. There's no need to get so worked up over me." [Orion]
"I dunno man… Your situation is preeeetty bad." [Felix]
"I'll fix it myself. Don't mind it." [Orion]
He waved the two off, but Adam and Felix didn't give up.
"Wait, I just had an idea." [Felix]
"What?" [Adam]
"Orion, if you could stay at one of our houses, would you?" [Felix]
"Uh… But you just said-" [Orion]
"Just answer! Yes, or no." [Felix]
Orion went silent for a moment. He sat there thinking to himself, and eventually came to a decision.
"Yeah… I would." [Orion]
"Nice, now it's Adam's turn." [Felix]
"Uh… What?" [Adam]
"You got a new house right? It should have around the same amount of rooms as mine, so of course you can house a few more people." [Felix]
"Oh. OH!! Why didn't I think of that?!" [Adam]
Seeing as there is some hope, the two got a bit excited.
"Ah, but there's one problem." [Adam]
"And that is?" [Felix]
"I'm going to have to ask Vivian… I'll… go make a call." [Adam]
Turning around, he left the room once again.
