Standing in front of the nurse's office, Adam had to say it.
"Orion." [Adam]
"Yeah?" [Orion]
"Wrong door." [Adam]
Pointing at the note above, Orion took notice of the sign that had "Please use the door on the left" written on it.
"Oh… I feel stupid." [Orion]
For the past few minutes, Orion had been pulling on the right side without much progress.
"...You should've told him before he started." [Krino]
("Hell no. If I did it, then Orion should do it too.") [Adam]
While Adam was savoring the moment, Orion moved to the left and opened the door.
"Welcome~." [???]
The group received a greeting upon entering the room. A figure only recognizable to Adam sat on a stool waiting for them.
"Did you three not see the sign?" [???]
It was the nurse from before. It had been a while since Adam last visited the room, so it seemed that she didn't notice him.
"We uh… didn't see it. ...Sorry." [Brandon]
"Mhm. That doesn't explain why he hasn't warned you before." [Nurse]
She pointed a finger at Adam, and his heart began to race.
("Oh, she recognized me.") [Adam]
"You might be in trouble here." [Krino]
("I know! Give me some ideas!") [Adam]
"Not my problem." [Krino]
Adam pulled a blank, but that didn't stop him. Beads of sweat appeared on his face, and he began to speak out of desperation.
"I was going to, but I kind of forgot. I have trouble remembering things, and my attention kind of wanders frequently so I also didn't notice the sign." [Adam]
The nurse looked at him as if she saw right through him. After locking eyes for a few seconds, she simply shrugged.
"Mistakes happen. I was like that when I was young too." [Nurse]
Adam breathed a sigh of relief. It was always the tension of speaking to an adult that got him nervous.
("Phew… That was a close one.") [Adam]
"I forgot? Really? THAT was your excuse?" [Krino]
("It worked didn't it?") [Adam]
The two bickered within Adam's head, but they stopped when the nurse began to move.
"Who are the injured?" [Nurse]
Standing up, she strolled over to a cabinet and started to rummage through it.
"Me and him." [Orion]
Pointing to himself, Orion then directed his finger to Brandon.
"Mhm. Alright. Clothes off then." [Nurse]
Not even batting an eye, Orion proceeded to take off his shirt.
"O-Orion?!" [Brandon]
"What?" [Orion]
"D-Don't just take your clothes off like that!" [Brandon]
Brandon was flustered. To Adam, it looked like Brandon was the only one with common sense in the room.
("You know… If Brandon didn't point that out... I would've.") [Adam]
As the students squabbled, the nurse took out a white box out of the cabinet.
"Are you two done yet?" [Nurse]
"Not yet. Just give me a sec." [Orion]
He began to unbuckle his belt, but the nurse intervened.
"You don't have to take off the pants." [Nurse]
"Thank god." [Brandon]
"Yeah, that would be embarrassing." [Orion]
Orion's actions didn't match his words, causing Brandon to look at him with an expression of disbelief.
"Hurry up, Brandon. You're the only one left." [Orion]
Brandon's ears went a bit red. After unlinking his arm around Adam's shoulder, he took off his shirt.
"...Where did you get those injuries?" [Nurse]
Orion and Brandon had bandages sloppily applied around their arms and torso. It appears that it was placed haphazardly in a hurry.
"Did you put those on by yourselves?" [Nurse]
Given her question, it was only right to answer.
"I did it. I've had a bit of experience with bandages, but I didn't have enough time to wrap it properly." [Brandon]
The nurse looked him up and down, as if she was scanning him like a machine.
"Had experience?" [Nurse]
"I used to uh… get bullied in middle school. It was kind of a necessity to bring bandages." [Brandon]
"I… see. In any case, I need you both to take it off." [Nurse]
The two began to unfurl the bandages, but the nurse seemed to have another idea in mind.
"Here, use these." [Nurse]
Reaching into a nearby drawer, she handed them a pair of scissors each.
"Take care not to cut yourself." [Nurse]
"..." [Orion] [Brandon]
The two cut their bandages in silence. By the time they were done, the floor was littered with white wrappings dyed with a little bit of red.
"Hm… I'm sure that I don't need to tell you this, but you should take care of your body." [Nurse]
Their bodies were riddled with bruises and torn skin. Though most of the blood had dried, it most definitely needed a bit of cleaning.
("Holy… What happened for them to be like this?") [Adam]
As Adam held a hand over his mouth, the nurse took notice of his expression.
"You, the one who had a dislocated shoulder." [Nurse]
"...Me?" [Adam]
"Yes, you. Can you stand out in the hallway? This isn't a sight a student should be getting used to." [Nurse]
"But I-" [Adam]
"Leave." [Nurse]
No matter how much Adam wanted to protest, the nurse simply pointed at the door.
"...Alright." [Adam]
Closing the door as he left, Adam stood in the hallway.
("Won't she at least let me stay with my friends?") [Adam]
