Chereads / Level One Isn't Weak! / Chapter 98 - Just Take It Easy

Chapter 98 - Just Take It Easy

As the students were hard at work, the chime of a bell ended the class.

"That's enough for today! The cursed assistant is yours to keep! Just make sure you guys bring it to class tomorrow! Class dismissed!" [Mr. Frank]

The groans of students filled the room, dragging their feet out of the dome.

"Felix… Can you just warp us back to the house?" [Adam]

"Too tired for that…" [Felix]

"Damn…" [Adam]

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

After changing out of their physical education clothing, they inched their way back home. At the time of their arrival, the two of them dropped to the floor.

"Ugh…" [Adam]

"I'm exhausted…" [Felix]

As they lay on the floor, a recognizably short figure descended the stairway.

"What the hell are you two doing?" [Aurora]

Questionably, she prodded them with her foot.

"Dying…" [Adam]

"Struggling to survive." [Felix]

"...Very unique ways to describe the same meaning." [Aurora]

"Can you just drag us to a more comfortable location if we're just going to talk?" [Adam]

"Hmph." [Aurora]

Accepting Adam's request, Aurora took the two by the collar.

"Ack!" [Felix]

"A-Aurora! Wait! We're choking!" [Adam]

"Sounds a whole lot like not my problem." [Aurora]

Ignoring their cries for help, she tossed them onto separate couches.

"There, you happy now?" [Aurora]

The two were gasping for air, unable to hear Aurora's words.

"...Fine, take your time." [Aurora]

Leaving the living room, she entered the kitchen for a popsicle. By the time Adam and Felix finished regaining their breath, Aurora had returned.

"So? Why were you two taking a nap at the front door?" [Aurora]

Taking a seat next to Felix, Aurora pushed him to the side.

"Ow… Don't be so rough…" [Felix]

"School kind of sucked today." [Adam]

"Really? I didn't see you at the student council today so I was wondering where you went." [Aurora]

"I only have to help them on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays." [Adam]

Speaking into the cushioning, his words came out muffled.

"Okay, so what did you do?" [Aurora]

"Run." [Felix]

"A lot." [Adam]

Without even looking at each other, Adam ended Felix's sentence.

"...Why?" [Aurora]

"P.E." [Felix]

"Test." [Adam]

"Can you two stop doing that?" [Aurora]

"Doing." [Felix]

"What?" [Adam]

"That! Stop it!" [Aurora]

With nothing left to say,the two went silent.

"...Perhaps." [Felix]

"Not." [Adam]

"..." [Aurora]

Angered by their immaturity, she slammed her fist into Felix's back.

"Agh! Alright! I'll stop!" [Felix]

"Good." [Aurora]

Leaning back into the couch, she reached underneath. After rummaging for a bit, she pulled out a bag of chips.

"...Adam." [Felix]

"...Yeah?" [Adam]

"I thought I told you not to stash snacks underneath the couch." [Felix]

"I already stopped doing that." [Adam]

The two made an effort to sit upright. They then proceeded to stare at Aurora with confused expressions.

"...What?" [Aurora]

"Have you been putting snacks underneath the couch?" [Felix]

In response to his question, Aurora went silent.

"...Anyways, what is this about a P.E. test?" [Aurora]

"You really think changing the subject is going to work-" [Felix]

"Yeah, so I think we have to do 300 pushups for boys. I don't really remember what else we had to do though." [Adam]

"Oh, that's nice." [Aurora]

"...God damn it Adam." [Felix]

"By the way, you two DID take boosters, correct?" [Aurora]

"Yeah." [Adam]

"It was forced upon me." [Felix]

"What color was the booster?" [Aurora]

"It was… I… actually don't remember. Was it red or blue?" [Adam]

"It looked like a mint. So basically white." [Felix]

"Not all mints are necessarily white." [Adam]

"It looked like a mint?" [Aurora]

"Mhm. Did you not hear me?" [Felix]

("Isn't that pretty high up on the potency?") [Aurora]

"How did you get the booster?" [Aurora]

"It was Roy. Didn't we tell you?" [Adam]

"Roy?" [Aurora]

She seemed surprised. After a few moments of realization, Aurora took a proud pose.

"As expected of the one I hold dear!" [Aurora]

("Ew…") [Adam]

"Ew… Oh shit, did I say that out loud?" [Felix]

Aurora's proud figure crumbled. Shifting her attention to Felix, she had a menacing glare attached to her face.

"So why did you bring up the boosters?" [Adam]

Ignorantly interrupting the moment, Adam quelled Aurora's rage.

("Nice save…") [Felix]

"I was going to say that you shouldn't need to exercise anymore. The boosters you've taken structurally enhance your body, which also in turn quite literally changes your genes." [Aurora]

"Isn't that really dangerous?" [Felix]

"Not anymore. It's past the experimental stage and has been put in use many years ago. Surprisingly, it doesn't enhance your children's genes if you have any." [Aurora]

"That's… unfortunate?" [Adam]

"It depends on the person's preference I guess." [Felix]

"Now if you two get my meaning, you can simply take it easy. 500 pushups should be something well in reach if you've taken a booster." [Aurora]

"..." [Adam] [Felix]

The two glanced at each other, but decided to remain silent.

("Then why do we feel tired after working out…") [Adam] [Felix]
