With blurry vision and a body with no strength, Adam was knocking on death's door.
"Are they dead?" [Orsted]
"Probably, but more importantly… Praise me!" [Gleim]
She lowered her head, asking for a compliment.
"You did good." [Orsted]
"Ehehehe...!" [Gleim]
Moments later, Claim came running up to him with an ornate box in hand.
"Soul weapon retrieved." [Claim]
"Good work." [Orsted]
Claim blushed slightly and handed him the box.
"Now that we have this, we can leave. Gleim, get rid of the poison." [Orsted]
She immediately halted her ability and the mist in the surrounding area dissipated.
"Lets go." [Orsted]
As they descended the stairs, Gleim brought up something that was bothering her.
"What do we do with the bodies?" [Gleim]
"Oh, them." [Orsted]
Glancing at Felix and Adam, he turned his head and ignored them.
"We can just tell the school that they rushed in and got themselves killed." [Orsted]
He felt an intense glare at the back of his head.
"I almost forgot. Tiffany, I retract my previous command. Give me the knife." [Orsted]
She lowered the knife from her throat and placed it in Orsted's hand.
"Good, now hold my hand." [Orsted]
"..." [Tiffany]
She held his hand silently, but her eyes were filled with rage.
"Don't be so mad, you'll thank me for it later." [Orsted]
As he walked by Adam, he picked up a nearby stick and prodded him with it.
"I don't see him foaming from the mouth. Are you sure he's dead?" [Orsted]
Suddenly, Adam lashed out.
"Wha-?!" [Orsted]
Grabbing Orsted by the leg, he tripped him and swiped the soul weapon.
"Give it to Felix!" [Krino]
Adam scrambled to his feet and opened the box in front of Felix.
"No!" [Orsted]
Immediately, a small object shot out and entered Felix's forehead.
"...You! How dare you!" [Orsted]
Orsted was fuming. He made a face unbecoming of his stature.
"How are you still fine after inhaling my poison?!" [Gleim]
"I felt better after resting a bit." [Adam]
"Grr! Tiffany-" [Orsted]
"Like I'd let you!" [Adam]
He fired off a Pressure Cannon at Orsted, interrupting his command.
"That's my line!" [Claim]
She raised her arms, splitting the burst of air in two.
"Ngh!" [Claim]
She dropped to one knee and a crack appeared in the air before her.
("A barrier?!") [Adam]
"Break through it! We can't let this become a hostage situation again!" [Krino]
"RAHHH!!!" [Adam]
Charging both hands, he continuously fired off pressure cannons one after the other.
"Kya!!!" [Claim]
The barrier shattered, sending Claim tumbling backwards.
("I can't believe that worked! I didn't think that would be enough to beat a senior!") [Adam]
"Stop thinking! Just stop Orsted!" [Krino]
("Time to bust out my new move!") [Adam]
"Implode!" [Adam]
With two bursts of air, he flung himself forward.
"Balance the scales, Krino!" [Adam]
Summoning his blade, he swung as soon as Orsted was in range.
"EEP!!!" [Orsted]
"Stand before me, Eilikrinis!" [Gleim]
She jumped in front of Orsted, protecting him with a white halberd.
"A soul weapon?!" [Adam]
"They're champions, of course they have soul weapons." [Krino]
Gleim pushed back, bouncing him off her shaft.
"Guh!" [Adam]
("She's strong!") [Adam]
Realizing he had been saved, Orsted let out a nervous laugh.
"Hehehe… AHAHAHAHA!! Serves you right! A commoner like you could never touch me!" [Orsted]
While he spoke, Adam noticed Claim getting up in the background.
("Now would be a great time for Felix to wake up.") [Adam]
Adam hoped that would jinx it, but Felix didn't budge.
"Stop wasting time!" [Krino]
"Implode!" [Adam]
Activating his ability continuously, allowing him to dart around the room.
("To kill a snake, you must cut off the head!") [Adam]
Using a larger burst of air, he launched himself at Orsted once again.
"Claim! Save me!" [Orsted]
Sweaty and fatigued, she raised another barrier.
"Out of my way!" [Adam]
Krino shot lightning up Adam's arms, allowing him to break through.
"Ack!" [Claim]
The recoil caused her to collapse, leaving her unable to fight.
"Claim!" [Gleim]
Her shock created a window of opportunity, and Adam wasn't going to let it go.
"Take this!" [Adam]
"Gyah!" [Orsted]
Orsted tried to run, but was slashed on his back. Adam tried to follow up with another blow, but Gleim intervened.
"Urgh…! Gleim, you're supposed to defend me!" [Orsted]
"I-I'm so sorry!" [Gleim]
Orsted picked himself up and slapped her.
"Don't be sorry! Be better!" [Orsted]
("What the hell? Aren't they allies?") [Adam]
"...Mend." [Gleim]
A blinding light flashed from her body, releasing a shockwave that sent Adam staggering backwards.
("I'm being pushed back?!") [Adam]
Gleim immediately took the chance to attack Adam while he was off balance.
"Oh crap!" [Adam]
She attacked ferociously, forcing Adam to focus on defense.
("I don't think I can keep this up!") [Adam]
Gleim went for a wide swing, bringing a small window of opportunity to the table.
("A chance!") [Adam]
He repositioned himself, preparing to parry the attack. An instant later, Adam realized his mistake.
"Wait no! It's a fein- Guagh!" [Adam]
Gleim sunk her foot deep into Adam's stomach, sending him tumbling back. Stabbing his sword into the ground, he managed to stop himself from rolling further.
"Urp...! I might throw up…" [Adam]
Surprisingly, Gleim didn't chase after him. Using his sword to prop himself up, he managed to stand.
"Haah… You up for round two?" [Adam]
Gleim set her halberd behind her with the blade overhead. Seconds later, it began to vibrate.
("That looks like a huge problem.") [Adam]
"Might want to dodge this one." [Krino]
Adam started to move, but he felt something brush against his leg.
("Huh?") [Adam]
Looking down, he noticed that it was Felix who lay there.
("God damn it. Looks like I'll have to tank this one.") [Adam]
"Are you serious? Dodge! It's not that hard!" [Krino]
("...It's not that simple. What kind of friend would I be if I let Felix die?") [Adam]
"...Fine. I'll at least help you." [Krino]
Suddenly, a rush of information coursed through Adam's head. He stood still for a moment, until a sly smile crossed his face.
"Thanks." [Adam]
The cavern shook and it seemed like Gleim had finished charging her attack.
"It's coming!" [Krino]
"Moon Splitter!" [Gleim]
Gleim sliced the air, sending a crescent white light at Adam. The cavern trembled as the attack dug through the floor.
("Now!") [Adam]
The guard on his sword shone brightly and Adam plunged the blade into the ground.
"Last Bastion!" [Adam]
A transparent dome formed around him, covering Felix as well. The dome rippled as Gleim's attack connected.
"Hrng!" [Adam]
As abilities struggled to prevail over the other, Adam felt an immense pressure on his body.
("Cmon! I can do it!") [Adam]
The dome shattered, allowing the white light to pass through.
"Not yet!" [Adam]
He quickly drew his sword out of the ground and intercepted the attack.
"Implode! Implode! Implode!" [Adam]
He pressed against the light, trying to do what his shield could not. The wind pressure tore his clothes and sliced at his skin, but that was not enough for his will to falter.
"Hrah!" [Adam]
Using all of his strength, he redirected the crescent light to the side. Gleim's attack hit the wall, leaving a wide gash in it.
"Haah… Haah…" [Adam]
Breathing heavily, he dropped to one knee.
"Not… yet…" [Adam]
Orsted peeked out from behind Gleim, checking out the situation.
"Ha! Do you see my power now?! You should've stayed down!" [Orsted]
"Grr…" [Adam]
With anger fueling him, he tried to bring himself back up.
"Ugh!" [Adam]
His efforts were futile. The energy spent blocking and redirecting Gleim's blow was not small. It was at this time that a miracle happened. A helping hand tapped his shoulder, startling Adam.
"Huh?!" [Adam]
As he turned around, relief washes over his face.
"Felix!" [Adam]
