Entering the Awakener, I immediately thought about the previous scenario that had awakened my Z chromosome.
The scenario that awakened it was the scenario of me falling a cliff.
As my surroundings dissolved from black particles into new colored particles, I recognized the familiar scenes.
A cliff and people surrounding me, blocking my exit and the only way out was the cliff. I knew what I had to do to awaken my chromosome.
Jumping off immediately, I fell down to the cliff, and once again, I felt it again.
The sensation of kratos, the power to manipulate space. Creating a portal before me, I teleported back to the top.
The cliff and enemies disappeared and replaced it was the black dome.
"Congratulations, you have awoken to power to manipulate space." A robotic voice spoke.
I walked out of the dome to see Rachael with a shocked expression on her face. The entire hall was stunned silent at the announcement.
The representatives also had a shocked expression on their faces, unable to believe that someone had just woken a unique ability in front of them.
Maybe only at capitals of Arcadia and other superpowers would have the slight chance of a unique ability awakening.
The principal was the first to snap out of his daze, then he walked upped to me and personally shook my hand.
Slight tears were coming out of his eyes as he wiped them away while he spoke emotionally, "To this day, I never thought that I would be able to see a unique Z chromosome. You, young man, have brought great pride to this academy."
I merely grinned in response to his emotional outpour and nodded my head.
"Now, you may choose which superpower to go to."
The representatives quickly cleaned themselves up and introduced their roles, what benefits I would get if I were to join, and what resources they can provide.
But I was only interested in one place, Arcadia. The place that contained the resources and ability to protect my mother.
It was also a great place for me to start a business and slowly take control of the business world then move on to the power side.
Hearing that I would be promoted straight Citizen (III) if I were to join Arcadia, I was quite shocked.
In my previous life, I was only offered Citizen (II). I wonder what exactly made Arcadia change their minds.
I think the only difference was that I came with Rachael… wait Rachael.
In my previous life, all I knew about her was that her family was very powerful and rich, but I didn't know exactly how high-tiered her family was.
Just staying with her could my status even higher. I need to be more careful around her now, although I trust her, I'm not too sure what will happen to me if her family decides to make a move on me.
It's better to be cautious than be ignorant. Such simple things may lead to my death, I must be careful of every little thing otherwise my plan to take over the world may go horribly wrong.
I was lost in my thoughts while the rest of the representatives tried to give their benefits and what privileges I would get if I were to join them.
Although the Arcadian Representative was not as fervent as them, he displayed quite the passion as well.
I ignored the other representatives and walked towards the Arcadian and he grinned as if he knew I was going to choose him.
The other representatives let out a seething glare at the Arcadian's smug smile but kept their cool, maybe there was another unique they thought, but even they were questioning themselves.
The Arcadian representative explained to me the privileges I would have, and my family members would also be accepted as Citizen (I). This was something that only occurred to unique Heretics otherwise normal people wouldn't be allowed to enter Arcadia, even if they were family.
Citizen (III) included the following benefits:
- Able to access Level 3 training facilities
- A guaranteed job in Arcadia military if you were to join
- Able to enter Level 3 weapon shops and armor shops
- Has a salary of 50,000 credits per year if joining any Heretic academy in Arcadia
- An apartment in any city will be reserved for them
The only benefit I was actually looking out for was the Level 3 training facilities and the rest were pretty bad.
The weapons and armor at Level 3 were not even worth talking at, only Level 5 weapons would make a noticeable difference.
Credits were a new international currency, people hated how the price of money in one country greatly differed to other countries, so they decided to abolish different money types.
Instead, they replaced it with a chip inside someone's arm, an average family with a house and the ability to pay school fees would get around 50,000 credits a year and that would be more than enough.
However, only a relatively rich household would be able to have chips otherwise people will just metallic coins.
Every payment was authorized by saying "confirm" out loud. It was impossible to fake because the chip would detect certain brainwaves unique to the user would emit.
I shook the Arcadian representative's hand with a smile, and he returned the smile.
"Welcome to the nation of chosen ones." He grinned.
Deciding not to comment, I merely nodded my head and walked over to the seats reserved for Heretics.
Rachael was fidgeting nervously and looked at me with an expression of unease, I mouthed 'You can do it' and gave her a thumbs up.
She smiled warmly at me and nodded her head in confidence, but I could tell she was still nervous.
"Rachael Harlow, please come up to The Awakener." The elderly woman pushed her glasses up as she read the list.
Waving goodbye to me, she stepped into The Awakener.
The other people murmured amongst themselves, wondering if Rachael would awaken her Z chromosome.
Some boys looked at me in jealousy, I was able to awaken a unique Z chromosome and I also got the beauty.
The boy who had awoken a strength enhance chromosome looked at me with killing intent, to which I was quite surprised about.
In my previous life, he was just a nobody, and now he's starting to hate me.
Speaking of which, in my previous life I treated everyone coldly, even my childhood friends so this time around I will be sure to treat my friends right.
*Gasp*
Exclaims and gasps soon ensued the hall, people chattered noisily as heard the following announcement, "Congratulations, Rachael Harlow, for awakening the Lightning Chromosome."
Rachael walked out with a shocked face and a mouth wide open, instead of being happy, she looked particularly distressed.
This was most likely due to her arranged marriage to the Zeus Heir, although I didn't think that she should know but it seems she may have heard some news about it.
Instead of swarming her with benefits, the representatives stayed back, almost as if they were afraid of her.
Hmm, Rachael's family maybe even more powerful than I thought.
She walked over to me with slightly puffy eyes, I sighed and brought her into my arms.
I caressed her hair gently and muttered, "It's all going to be fine."
Hearing my gentle tone, she cried.
After a good 10 minutes or so, reality seemed to hit her as she suddenly stood up with a blushing red face.
"I-I'm so-sorry," she mumbled in embarrassment as she covered her red face with her hands.
"I mean, that's what friends are for right?" I said in a bright tone which I thought might cheer her up.
But for some reason, her face fell, and she muttered, "Just friends?"
I was no stranger to love and I immediately recognized that Rachael might have a crush on me, but crushes don't last forever and usually don't work out.
Furthermore, with her background, I wouldn't even be able to become her boyfriend. At least until I become much stronger.
A few hours later…
The awakening ceremony had finally ended, in the end, only body enhancing chromosomes were awakened. Exactly the same in my previous life.
I yawned and stretched my arms in exhaustion as I listened to the principal's 'motivational' speech about awakening their chromosomes next year.
*Smack*
"Ow, what was that for?" I rubbed my right arm after someone smacked it.
Rachael looked at me fiercely, "Listen to the principal."
I could nod my head in meek submission, women truly are the scariest creatures.
The principal finally ended his speech, and everyone got up and started to leave the hall. I left with Rachael and we were walked to the bus stop.
"Instead of going home normally, let's celebrate." She said cheerfully as she skipped around.
I rolled my eyes at her, "Do you think I have the money? And my mum would smack me if I got home late."
"Your no fun at all," she pouted and crossed her arms, "Alright cya tomorrow." She said as she kissed me on the cheek goodbye and left.
I looked at her disappearing back and sighed, 'Young love' I thought to myself.
Returning home, I walked up to my half-broken house.
My mum dressed in her cooking clothes was waiting for me at the dinner table, hearing the door click open, she got up and rushed towards me.
She hugged me and returned the hug.
After 10 seconds, she smacked my butt and said sternly, "Why were you late?"
I smiled brilliantly and said, "I awoke my Z chromosome."
She was stunned silly, then she broke into tears and said emotionally, "Af-after a-all the-these years, Go-god has f-finally blessed us." She spoke while trying to hold back her tears but to no avail.
I wiped away the tears away on her face and I spoke with a passionate voice, "Mum, I now have a salary of 50,000 credits a year and we have an apartment in Arcadia. We're moving to Arcadia."
She broke down even more as she heard all the blessings I have received.
After she finally calmed down, we ate dinner and I decided to sleep early today.
Laying in my bed, I thought about my plans for the future.
