Chapter 16 - Deal with A Gold Coin

"So the kid lost his mind." The leader concluded. Too bad that wasn't enough. The job could only be considered finished when Ed stops breathing, forever. However, there was still a question that was lingering in his mind.

"How are you still alive?"

"Who said I died?" Ed questioned back.

Hearing the reply from the kid, his face turned ugly, also understood, that the situation was getting nowhere, the man took a smartphone out of the pocket, his lackey moved towards the right side of Ed. They need to take care of the situation and get out of the area before the enforcers arrive.

Understanding their intentions, Ed grabbed two stones for the ground.

Both of them smirked at Ed, while watching at his naive way of retaliation in this situation. Shaking their heads just as they were about to attack, they felt their hand go numb.

"Ahh..."

The lackey grabbed hold of his one hand by another, rubbing together to ease the pain.

The leader though used his other hand and grab hold of the casting-tool, which fell off his numbing hand. Just as he was about to cast, Ed again stuck his hand with the stick.

Slam...

The smartphone flew out his hand, while Ed again stroke him, this time in left leg so hard, he lost the balance and fell down.

At the same time, Ed rushed at the lackey and kicked him right at his face. Then raising the stick over them both, he started beating them both one after another.

Slam... Slam... Slam... Slam...

"Ahh... Ahh... It burns, it burns."

"Oh, that should be the burn effect of the stick. I happened to add SP point on the stick as a little experiment, trying to understand if it was going to work."

"Damnit, I didn't even get to cast one magic." The pissed leader cursed at himself.

"And as you can see, or feel in this case, it works."

Slam... Slam... Slam...

Looking at the sorry sight in-front of him, Ed moved around them while kicking away their caster tool. Finally, he turned around and questioned them.

"Who sent you to kill me?"

"Please, I am sorry. But can't answer that."

Slam... Slam... Slam... Slam...

Ed swung his stick and positioned it in the snotty leader's arm. Ed then questioned again, as if he didn't care about his answer.

"How much did they pay you?"

"Please, I can't answer that."

Slam... Slam... Slam... Slam...

Swinging the stick, Ed hit the leader on his other legs.

Suddenly Ed started speaking, "You see, I have lots of enemies, because of the clan and also some happens to be my own."

He didn't hear them reply but could see they were gazing at him, so he continued while looking at them at the same time he bought out a gold coin.

"But if I have to go around, killing every single one of them that's a lot of work."

Their gaze finally turned to the gold coin. It was a deal. A gold coin for information.

"You won't go back in your word right?" Questioned the snotty leader.

Ed threw the coin at the leader as if he didn't care about the coin. Grabbing the coin while bearing the pain as best as he can, the leader took a good look at it. Finally, he swiped his snot and with teary eyes, he spoke, "The Rocks."

"What?" Ed spoke startled.

"The Rocks." The leader repeated, also grabbed a paper from inside the shirt and gave it to him.

"Damnit, I could have just killed them both and gotten the paper as auto-loot," Ed mumbled in his breath.

Grabbing the paper Ed took a good look at it. Suddenly his face turned a little ugly, without waiting any longer he turned around and rushed out of the site and entered his car. Hitting his legs on the gas he drove the car and rushed into the traffic at max speed.

....

Finally, after seeing Ed leaving the site, the two people with injuries and some fractured bones took a long breath of relief.

"Boss, can you move? I can't."

"I think I can, a little bit, Hold on." Sniff... Sniff... "What's that smell?"

"I think I p**ped my pants."

"..."

...

"Job: Kill the children of Phoenix Clan Heads."

The rewards were going to be provided to the mercenaries based on the kill count.

In other words, the target wasn't just Ed, it was all the children of the clan heads. The more you kill, the more you earn.

Ed didn't care about other clan heads children, why would he? He had just arrived and now he was to save them all. No way, even the system has warned him to not mess too much. The only one he cared about right now was his sister. Noway he was going to let anyone harm her, but knowingly not doing a thing because of some selfish reason, it was wrong.

"Scan."

Ed commanded while looking at the map at the same time. More than thirty red dots appeared on the map. Still, Ed was thankful to know none of them appeared inside the compound of the clan. In other words, they were afraid of the mages within the clan.

"Low-level mages," Ed confirmed their capacity while taking a little breath of relief.

After three minutes he finally slowed down the car and stopped inside the compound of the clan after keeping some distance away from the gate.

Getting out of the car, he rushed towards the inner section of the clan. Just as he reached the main core area, he stopped.

"Ed! Why are you here?"

A lady's voice resonated in Ed's ear, causing him to look at his side.

"Sister Jeanne, Just the person I was looking for. I have bought some news, and I want you to take care of it."

"What kind of news?" She questioned surprised.

Taking the paper out of the pocket Ed gave it to her. Jeanne looked at the paper while breathing as faster as she looked through it.

Suddenly, she asked him, "Where did you get this?"

"I was attacked. I fought. I won. Questioned them, and got my hands on those." Ed replied while pointing at the paper on Jeanne's hand.

"You were attacked?"

"I just said that already. So about the new situation."

She nodded, "We need to get the situation in control. I will contact the leader right now. Thanks, Ed."

Turning around she rushed into the clan main building.

Ed too started walking towards his home, "Well, I did what I could to help. Everything else that happens after now is no longer my fault."
