Callum Age 3 yrs

A small child huddled in the corner, held his blanket in his arms. His eyes tightly closed, he kept muttering " go away, go away". He tried to stop shivering very hard but nothing seemed to be working. He kelp his eyes closed and mumbled " Harmony, I am too cold, they are all around me. I am scared what should I do". Just than he felt bright light covering him and the whispers and shadows disappeared and finally sleep claimed him.

Next morning Callum sat on the dining table with his father cooking while humming. He looked at his elder sister ( who is 6 ) and mumbled" what is wrong with him". Melinoe replied " today is 31st Oct he has a date with mom". Callum looked at the callender and understood. Since birth Callum was a sharp child and understood few things as rule of his family.

Rule 1 : He has a mother and twin sister and he will meet them when he is 20.

Rule 2: No questions allowed about where mom went and why his twin sister is not with him. " You will understand when you are 20".

Rule 3 : He is not allowed to go far from his house and no stranger allowed near him.

Rule 4 : On every 31st oct Dad will meet mom how, when, where noone knows or allowed to ask. Dad is not to be disturbed in any form on that day.

Rule 5 : His sister even though seperated is always with him. So, when in any trouble think of her.

Callum felt happy it is that day of year. He never cared for Christmas, easter or Thanksgiving only thing important to him was halloween. But it was miserable to him in another form. Because they are more shadows around him in that time of year. They are ghosts and shadows of death. That he could see since he was born. He found out they were different when the cook that he used to say good morning everyday when he was 2 was actually never there to begin with. He found out about that was when Meli asked him who does he say good morning to every day.

That's when he noticed many people and friends around him were extremely cold and they always ran away when his dad came near him. He felt they were afraid of him. They called him Overlord , he heard in their whispers but he was scared to ask who this Overlord was and what relation he has with Dad. For him they were shadows and darkness that he wanted to avoid at any cost.
