Chapter 1 - All is lost

[I see the golden light.

Pretty skies and pretty lies,

I'm bound and forever tied.]

29th February, 1996.

"Mother, I'm not feeling too well about this."

"You're going to be just fine, my dear. Diana, you're the strongest woman I've ever seen in my life. I'm so blessed for having you as my daughter, dear."

"B-but the pain is—"

The woman's shriek cut herself off from speaking to her mother.

On the downtown road of London, the greatest city on earth of the British, Diana was an expecting mother strong and determined in her nineth month, ready to welcome the baby and give the child everything that she never had.

The labour pains were extremely pathetic for everyone who heard her tired cries. Men and women walking around the hospital prayed for the woman of a safe delivery, some people realizing the odd date of birth for the baby and some wishing her good luck by heart.

The mother of Diana held the key shaped golden locket hanging by her neck tightly in her fist, her wrinkled cheeks glistening with tears as her strong daughter was taken away into the room for delivery.

The mother had a pang in her heart. The gut feeling of a terrible happening in the near future. She couldn't help but pray whilst holding the locket of remembrance of her dear late husband.

"Oh, George. I wish you were here..." her small, meek voice was heard to none but the gods above and her beloved husband's soul.

Diana's cries of pain and the feeling of losing something so precious to her made people swarm around the room, Diana's mother receiving all kinds of comfortable words for her strength and for her daughter.

"Just a little more, sweetheart. I see the head of the baby!" The head nurse encouraged the lady.

"Oh no!" That one singular cry from the nurse in front made several heartbeats rise abnormally. Diana's mother's mortifying cries of that one feeling made people feel extremely bad.

"Y-your granddaughter, miss. Would you...would you like to name her?"

Pain.

All that the mother of the deceased Diana could feel at the moment.

Her lovely granddaughter was safe and sound in her arms, the loveliest baby that the old woman has ever seen, but her heart remained numb.

"Huh?" She answered after a while, knowing no amount of tears would bring back her daughter into this world.

She left her soul in this baby's little body...

She thought of it like that.

The nurse sat close by the old woman's side, palm drawing soothing circles behind her back as he held the newborn in her arms delicately.

Rebirth.

Newness to the soul.

A new Diana...

It was her granddaughter.
