Chapter 4 - -Chapter 3-

Only 2 more days...

You woke up rather late today, glancing at your clock you saw it was already about 11:30am.

"Bot! Why didn't you wake me up earlier?"

You asked your household AI.

"My apologies. I thought you needed the rest"

"Whatever." You grumbled to yourself as you went downstairs and ordered the stove to start cooking breakfast. As you walked into your living room, you saw that maid bot had already cleaned up your plates from yesterday.

Looking at your phone, you were going to check your messages, but not before getting a notification telling you that your phone was only at 4%.

"Bot, can you charge my phone for me?"

"Of course master."

You plugged your phone into the outlet and waited the whole 30 seconds for it to charge.

"I swear it takes forever, maybe I should upgrade my charger" you mumbled to yourself.

Now that you were at 100%, you could check your messages. None from Elly. But you did get an email from B.Y.T.E Inc.

[New notification from B.Y.T.E. Inc.]

[Estimated delivery for your android has been updated!]

You continued scrolling through all the boring shit when you finally got to the actual message.

[New delivery date: September 24th- 11pm at the latest]

Shit, that's today!

You already knew trying to cancel the order was no use. So you didnt bother trying this time.

"Master, your heart rate and blood pressure have increased significantly. Are you alright?"

"Yes Bot I'm fine."

"Is there anything you'd like to tell me?"

"No...why?" You cocked an eyebrow at his strange question.

"You see, the home system got a notification early this morning at 5:33am exactly. It read: New delivery will be arriving earlier than previously anticipated"

"Oh...yeah. I- well, someone else kinda ordered something for me."

"I see, the package was from B.Y.T E Inc. Although I couldn't look any further due to my limited permissions."

"Yeah, alright."

Maybe it has a power button! Yes! You dont even have to turn it on!

On the other hand however, what if it automatically turns on...of course it'll have an emergency shut down switch somewhere, so no matter what you wont have to deal with it!

"Master, I decided to do some research on B.Y.T.E Inc.'s androids. So far- after only one day of being released, the bad reviews outweight the good ones. Many bugs have been detected, such as robots being set to the wrong language or malfunctions with the connection to the house's system."

"Are there any good reviews?"

"Not many. But there have to be some, so I'll keep looking."

"Ok."

You continued to eat your breakfast.

˜"*°•.˜"*°• Time Skip! Current time: 7:30pm, Sept. 24th •°*"˜.•°*"˜

The package still hasn't come luckily. But Bot has been warning you about the dodgy android almost all day, trying to convince you not to turn it on, or even open its packaging.

"Master, I highly suggest you avoid using your new android."

"Its malfunctions could cause both of us harm if we're not smart about this."

"Master, are you listening?"

Those were just some of the things he's told you throughout the past couple hours. You appreciate his concern, but he was definitely way too worried about a new (and unknown) android system being let in the house.

You let out a tired sigh "Alright, alright. I understand that you're concerned, but you've only warned me about 20 times by now, I think it's best if we don't worry too much yet."

"My apologies."

As he went silent, you stood up from the living room couch and walked over to your desktop.

"Hmm, maybe I should do some research of my own."

˜"*°•.˜"*°• Time Skip! Current Time:

9:00pm, Sept. 24th •°*"˜.•°*"˜

Looking through all the reviews, you'd say about 75% of them were bad.

"Damn it Elly. Always getting me into these situations."

Deciding your research had come to an end, you stood up from your desk chair. Your legs were a little sore from sitting there for so long. You ordered your coffee machine to start making you some coffee, that is until-

"Master, drinking coffee so late at night isn't good for your sleep schedule."

"At this point I really couldnt care less."

You drank your coffee as you walked to your room, sitting on your bed and looking out the window. You heard the mechanical birds chirping their robotic-like songs and the street lights were beginning to turn on. The cold breeze hit you like a freezing wave. You decided to close the window to keep the cold out.

>>DING<<

Shit, that was the doorbell.

>>DING<<

You heard it again.

"Bot, can you please open the door?"

"Of course."

You heard the delivery guy come in.

"Hello?! Anyone home?"

You sat quietly in your room, pretending not to be there. It would be hella awkward if you actually went downstairs and had to make eye contact with them. Anyway, within about 1 minute they left and you were alone again.

"Geez, finally"

Walking cautiously down the stairs you saw the huge box next to the front door. It was grey, with huge, bold, black letters reading:

CAUTION: CONTENTS FRAGILE

The box was super tall too, it was at least a full foot taller than you.

"Bot, approximately how tall is this?"

"The package stands at 6"6' and weighs about 186 pounds or 84.36 kilograms."

Alright, so I don't think I'll be able to move it...so what do I do? Just leave it here? If the reviews really are true, then this thing could possibly take control over the entire house!

"How will we know if it's safe?"

"I can scan it for any harmful viruses or programs, if you will allow me to."

"Sure, how do you scan it?"

"I only need you to plug in the android to the main computer."

Alright, cool.

"But I have to unbox it to plug it in don't I?"

"Yes, master. Unboxing of the android will be necessary."

You opened the large door on the front of the gray box. It opened and you saw the silhouette of the android. You pulled it out from its packaging to get a good look at it.

"Wow, it really looks human."

Carrying it to the main computer proved to be a challenge. Because Bot didnt have a body he couldn't be of assistance. And your maid bot was only about 3 feet tall so that was a no go.

In the end, you got it over there and plugged it in to the socket on the side of the computer.

It took a few minutes, but Bot successfully scanned all the programs in the android.

"I have detected 3 harmful programs and/or viruses. Letting this android to connect to the house would allow it to possibly take over everything."

"Well, what should we do about it?"

"To be honest, I dont know master."

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
