"LifeStalk Grass only for 2 Mana Stones. Hurry and Buy before it's sold."
"Slightly damaged Steel Sword Imbued with Wind Magic. Only 980 Mana Stones."
"I will take a 100-year-old ginseng for 100 Mana Stones."
"No way. Are you in your right mind? This 100-year-old ginseng nearly cost my life. I will only sell this for at least 500 Mana Stones."
For the first time, Mizar felt like that the high level of the Sense wasn't as good as it sounded. People were shouting all over the place, and it was starting to drive him crazy.
Sounds he wanted to hear and sounds he didn't want to hear were all coming in at once. Since he didn't get this high level of sense through normal means, he couldn't control it.
Other people gradually developed such a skill, which enabled them to control it to a certain degree. In contrast, Mizar got it through a shortcut using the system, just by adding points. He couldn't control it, so he had to leave it be.
'It's good that the token has a map of the Marketplace. Otherwise, I would be lost in this sea of sound all day.' Mizar heaved a sigh as he finally spotted the thing he was searching for.
'Protection Center,' name of the shop that installed, repaired, and upgraded the protection ward.
Mizar pushed opened the door and went inside. There weren't many people inside. The room had a desk and sitting behind that desk was an alluring lady in her early thirties. She wore revealing clothes and had a seductive gaze in her eyes.
Some people had come here just so they could stare at her all day, and the lady didn't mind them.
Even Mizar, who was not particularly interested in such things, was fascinated by her for a few seconds.
'That Lady is dangerous. Better keep my guard up.' Mizar shook his head as he made his way towards the desk.
"Oh. You are the first in many years who wasn't captivated by my beauty."
"I would like to repair and upgrade my protection ward."
The Lady seemed somewhat nonchalant as she asked,
"Why does a boy like you living in the training area need a protection ward? Anyway, give me your token. I need to register it first. What's your name?"
"Mizar"
The Lady was looking down, writing something as Mizar put his table in the token. Suddenly she stopped writing as she slowly looked up and said,
"I didn't think you had a black token. Do you live in Rain and Cloud?"
"Yes."
"It must be hard for you to live there. You know what? I will give you a 30% discount and the materials required for an upgrade. Just don't forget about me after you become stronger."
She said with a smile on her face.
"Thank You. I won't. How much will it cost?"
"If your ward is completely broken, then we would have to install a new one. How much do you have?"
"I have five blue Mana Stones."
Mizar actually had seven blue Mana stones plus other regular Mana stones, but he had to save some for repairing his broken house, and different future uses.
"If we have to install a new one, it will take four blue Mana Stones. The first upgrade takes two Blue Mana Stones, which multiplies as you upgrade the ward. So it will only be enough to repair the ward."
Mizar slowly nodded his head with a solemn expression.
"But don't worry. I said I would give you a discount on my part and I will keep my word. You will only have to pay me two Blue Mana Stones. If we don't have to install a new one, you will still get a discount."
"Thank you very much," Mizar said with a grateful voice. In this Dog shit world full of selfish peoples, it was tough to find someone who would help others.
Yes, she could have ulterior motives behind her actions, but Mizar didn't think there was any reason for her to have some ulterior motives. Despite what he thought, Mizar was still cautious. You can never really predict what others might do.
With a smile on her face, she called her assistant. The assistant also seemed perverted as he was staring quite intensely onto the Lady's big breasts. Mizar remembered him; he was one of the peoples that Mizar saw when he entered. He was drooling while staring at the lady. The dried saliva was still on his face.
"Cough… Cough" The Lady coughed to get the assistant's attention.
The assistant stopped staring at her boobs and paid attention to what she was saying. Still, he couldn't control himself and was frequently peeking at her boobs.
After listening to her, the assistant looked towards Mizar and said with a wrathful expression,
"Let's go. I don't have time to dilly dally."
Mizar was pretty sure what important task this guy had, but he didn't say anything except okay and started walking.
"Wait a second. I also need a guy to repair my house. I need to speak to him." Mizar walked towards another building.
"Geez! This guy… I swear if I miss a panty scene of Lisa because of him, he will die. I don't wanna be envious of those guys."
He was non-stop mumbling while waiting for Mizar.
"Let's go." Two other guys had joined Mizar as they made their way towards the Western District.
Mizar was joyful today. It was his first time in many years to do something out in the open, like shopping. Under his step-father's suppression, he couldn't spend what he wanted. His step-father would confiscate anything useful he bought along with his remaining money. He was denied his fundamental rights as a human, not that there was someone to enforce such things in this cruel world.
Just as he got out of the Marketplace, he sensed that he was getting followed. The Marketplace wasn't a lawless area like the Residential District. The follower was likely following him so that he could strike Mizar the instant he entered the Residential District.
'Since the follower is following me alone, he or she must be strong. I must figure out a way to make him reveal his strength.'
Mizar was thinking hard while the three others with him were oblivious to what was going to happen.
…
"Got You." A guy with a soft complexion, a bald head, and scars over his eyes said, keeping his hand on the shoulder of Clement.
"Who are you?" Clement said while jumping away from him, ready to attack at any moment. Even though Clement had a feeling that this guy won't harm him, he couldn't be sure.
"No need to be scared, my child. I am not here to harm you. As for your question, people call me Buddha."
