Chereads / Lionel's DownFall / Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Who am I... Where am I. It's like in drowning in a pool of darkness. I can't breathe, the shadows so thick its comparable to syrup. How did I get here.

I looked around me, the blanks of the room completely black, the only source of light coming from the center of the room. Where I'm standing.

"Hello?," I asked, looking around me. It's strange, this feeling. Like something's missing.

"Finally you're awake. I'm sick of being stuck here because of you," A cold voice murmured. I turned, seeing a slumped over figure in a chair, large chains holding his wrists to the chair. His fingers and toes were completely black, and Mark's completely covered his face. He looked up, one eye glowing green. The other, violet.

"Who are you?," I asked, stumbling backwards with fear.

"So you dont remember me huh... Let's just say, I'm you," He chuckled slowly, dropping his head again. I looked at my hands and feet. There isnt anything there. I looked up with confusion.

"But those marks-," I started, but he cut me off with a vicious laugh.

"Healed after your last fight. You really dont remember anything? God you're pathetic," He cackles. I shook my head, looking at my hands.

"Who am I?," I demanded. I glared at the dark walls around me.

"Where are we?," I added. He sighed, standing up and snapping the chains off the chair. He rubbed the chain on his wrist with a low growl, storming towards me. He leaned down.

"We are-," Before he could finish, the room started to fill with light, and he disappeared.

"Hes waking up!," An unfamiliar voice yelled. I could hear the voices, the clamoring.. But I cant see them.

"Why isnt he opening his eyes if hes waking up Magnus," A female voice demanded. Magnus? I dont remember anybody named Magnus. I slowly peeled my eyes open with a wince, feeling returning to my body. My lips were dry as brittle, my eyes practically stuck together.

"Hey... There he is," A male voice murmured. It was the same one as the person who yelled that I was waking up earlier.. His voice was smooth. Charismatic even. I glanced to my left, following the direction of the voice.

"Hey... You finally woke up," He added in a slight whisper. I sat up with a rush, crawling away from the people surrounding me. A boy and a girl.. The girl older than the boy.

"W-who are you! Why am I here! What did you do to me!," I cried. In that instant its like all color drained from the boys face, his eyes darkening. I clenched my fists, trembling with fear.

"Hey... Do you remember your name?," The female asked. I looked at her, shaking my head.

"No... I dont remember anything," I responded. A cold voice hissed in my head, like a memory.

Lies. I felt a chill go down my spine as the voice whispered into my ear.

"Mom... Can you take care of this?," The boy asked, his voice strained. His mother nodded, turning back to me with a pitiful smile.

"Who is he?," I asked her. She sighed, grabbing a clothe from a bucket on my side of the bed.

"His name is Magnus. You and him are... close.," She tried to explain. I nodded, looking away.

"Do you know my name?," I asked. Right when I thought I was gonna get answers, She disappeared. I sighed, covering my ears and closing my eyes. What is going on?

Magnus

I leaned against the wall down the hall from Lios room, wheres hes spent the past month and a half in a coma. The pain of being forgotten is far worse the pain of him being asleep. I let out a deep breath.

Breathe. There isnt anything you can do about it. My mom stared at my from across the hall, her eyes piercing me.

"I dont want you to tell him," I breathed, clenching my fists. She raised her eyebrows with shock.

"Why? Dont you think he deserves to know?," She asked. I looked down the hall towards the room.

"Yes, he does. But mom... His life was fucked... And it had some really bad effects on him. I'm scared that if he remembers anything, he might go back to the way he used to be," I retorted. She glared at me, raising her hands up in surrender.

"What's so wrong with who he used to be?," She demanded. I growled under my breath.

"He killed a woman, tortured a teenage boy. Mom, I've seen the signs in your stupid textbooks for the PD. He has the makings of one hell of a serial killer. He needs help, sure. But his memories... What if they cause him to revert. To have those instincts again. I dont want that for him," I hissed. She backed away.

"Fine, but what happens after your choice is on you, no one else," She warned, before disappearing down the stairs. I went back into Lios room, sitting on the couch across the room. He turned his heads glancing at me. That's when it hit me. His marks... Even on his fingers and toes... They're gone. His tattoo.. His eyes. The doctor said they were gonna be permanent.

"So... What's my name?," He asked. I bit my cheek, before lifting up my chin with false bravado.

"I dont know what your name was before.. But if you want me to, I can name you now, " I answered. A flash of disappointment covered his face. He looked at the cieling.

"I'd love that, what do you have in mind?," He asked, turning back to me. I felt a bad taste in my throat. This is for the better good... This is for his sake.

"Fine... I want your name to be-," I froze, my lips freezing mid sentence... This is the right thing to do.

"Lionel...," I answered, biting my tounge. Stupid! Hes going to remember. He scratched his chin, looking at me with confusion.

"Why Lionel.. Isnt that a little weird?," He asked. I shook my head, smiling at him for the first time in almost two months.

"No.. It is perfect for you,"

Sarah

"Hey Tara! Pass the cereal please!," I called to the kitchen, grabbing six bowls from the cupboard. I slide them onto the table, sitting in my seat.

From the doors, Charles, Michelle and two cloaked figures walk in, each taking a seat where they'd like at the table.

Tara entered the room from the livingroom, grabbing the cereal from off the fridge and slapping it down on the table, taking her seat as well.

"Charles, Sarah, You have been with us long enough that I feel I can trust you with the Identities of our two companions. They have been under strict rule not to talk to you, and all will be explained in due time. However, If you do happen to be untrustworthy, the only escape for you is death," She warned. I shrugged and nodded, setting my spoon down and looking up. Charles was already looking at the figures, who moved across the room and stood behind Tara.

"Some like to call me the Puppet Mistress... Because they dont have a very clear ideal on what my cursed blade can do. My weapon is something extraordinary, but also dangerous. It is generally a 50/50 Live rate. Using my dagger, if I cut someone with my blade on a vital artery, one of two things will happen. They will be denied the honor to work at my side and die a horrible death. Or b, They are strong enough to live through it and become extraordinarily warriors themselves. One of these guys you may recognize, but these are two of my favorite companions. Meet Alter and Shockwave, " She announced. My heart stopped. Alter.. Does she mean...

The two figures tossed their cloaks aside, revealing their faces. One was a blonde kid with glowing golden eyes, his eyes firmly locked on me in a permanent scowl as he revealed himself. The other guy, co formed my fears. Ryan tossed his head back, blowing the hair out of his eyes and glaring down at Charles, his eyes almost glowing with vitality.

Hes the furthest thing from being dead.

"I'm sure you're familiar with Alter. He has been with me for a few months, hes my newest addition. Shockwaves real name is Noah, and you already know Alter. Get comfortable with one another. I send you guys out in 2 hours," She concluded her epic speech. She turned on her heel and exited the way she came.

I looked at Ryan.

That son of a bitch.

Lio

"Wakey wakey," A cold voice hissed, dicey arms wrapped around me. I sit up straight, moving away from the figure that's been locked up in my head since I woke up this morning.

"What do you want from me!," I cried. He stalked forward, leaning down. Suddenly, like a glitch, he became a small boy, with glowing green eyes and golden blonde hair. I scrambled back with shock. The little boy came up to me, grabbing my leg.

"Please dont let me die... Dont forget me," He begged. The world around me started shifting, rumbling. Pain infiltrated my head as a single image burns into my mind.

A fist of lava.

I screamed, clenching my aching head. The little kid cries again, trying g to run up to me. I push him back, curling up into a ball.

"DONT DO THAT EVER AGAIN!," I howled. The little kid cried, and disappeared.

For a moment.. Everything was so peaceful.

If only life could stay that way forever.

"Why not Lionel.... Dont you want to face our truth?," The cold voice demanded again. I spun around, seeing him back in his chair where he sat when I first woke up. In the darkness outside my circle of light.

"We were so powerful together. You were so powerful.... Why dont you just accept who we are and what we can become. Accept us," He roared. I froze. Us? I looked at him, fear pounding in my chest.

"Theres more of us... Isnt there?," I demanded. The cold figure smirked.

"Bingo," All around me in the dark area away from me, different figures appeared. I looked all around me. Theres a kid.. The guy I've been talking to. A version of me with the strange tattoos and one violet eye. One with black eyes and glowing silver Mark's. So many different versions of that one man. I bit my cheek.

"I am not one of you... I'm not!," I cried, clamping down on my ears, hoping to drown out their voices.

"You are... In fact, you're the worst of us all," A voice hissed from behind me. I turned, seeing the one draped in silver.

"No I'm not!," I panted, sweat beading at my forehead.

"Let us in, Let us in," They all started chanting, getting louder and louder. My blood started pounding in my ears, my sweat dripping louder and louder.

"No..," I growled slowly. They continued their horrendous chant. I clenched my chest, feeling my head fall as their voices got louder. and louder.

"Stop it," I pleaded, clenching my eyes shut. Why is it so hot in here... Why am I sweating.. Why is everything so loud.

"I SAID STOP IT!," I screamed, a large wave of energy exploding from my chest. I looked around me. They're all gone.

I opened my eyes, to the real world outside my head.

It was so.. beautifully quiet. I never realized how beautiful the world was.

Until now.
