Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

"What do you mean the possibility of a war," Cliff asked this time; it was his turn to pace the room. "What are college students supposed to do in the seat of royalty, much less in a war?"

I shrugged, "I don't know so much about that, but Sam said that once Aili heals completely, she will assist in training us for whatever may happen. She did mention that everyone will try to make it so we can have the full college experience. Still, she did say that after this revelation that our lives will never be the same," I sighed as I turned back to the desk. "I suggest that you don't tell anyone about us being possible royalty and the possibility of war coming from me. Aili and I have enough to worry about with this popularity and this looming over our heads."

Cliff nodded with a sigh, "Will this change anything about any of my offers for you," he asked.

"Not that I believe," I said, "I may be missing some days due to training, but I'm sure that either Aili, Sam, or myself will let you know well in advance. So, what are these offers," I asked as I sat back at the desk.

Cliff shook his head, "Right," he began as he returned to his seat across from me. "About that," he began with a sigh. "As you may already know, some members of the secret service will aid your guard. The three of you can order them to do whatever you want within reason," he sighed once more. "The offer is more of a job offer than anything else," he paused. "I would like you to be the spokesperson for this Project; I want you to report on what you find with new soulmates and what the gods are saying about it. If you get news of war coming up, I want every detail of it, so I can help you with it," he said, and I nodded.

"Will I have to say whatever you want me to say, or do I have free reign to say what needs to be said," I asked him as he grinned.

"There will be some instances where you will need to say certain things, but that won't be often," he answered, leaning towards me. "The most that you'll be asked to do is to make an announcement on a certain day by the end of that day. If it's a government-related issue that you may not know about, we'll supply the article and give you time to read up on it. Suppose it's related to both the government and you two. In that case, you'll probably already know about it," he explained, and I nodded.

"What about Aili," I asked, "does she have a say in this because I'd rather her not get anything for this other than backlash for whatever I have to say."

Cliff smiled, "I may have already talked to her about it with Sam looming over my shoulder; she's fine with that as long as you are. She is willing to go with it, she did mention the live show, and I told her that you plugged it during your speech yesterday," he answered. "So, what do you say? Are you taking the offer? You both would get government pay, and we'll protect you as much as possible, especially in a college setting," he said as I grinned in response.

"I'll take the offer," I answered, "I believe the protection on the college campus will have to be secretive. I will talk to Sam about that since Aili, and I will be in a dorm, and that's pretty hard to station guards secretly."

"Oh, you two will not be staying in a dorm. That's too risky," Cliff said, "why not commute?"

"Too much gas wasted when driving back and forth, and we also want to hang out with friends on the campus," I answered. "The whole campus will be risky," I began, "where would you suggest that we stay?"

"I'll converse with Sam and the locals about where the best place to stay would be for you two," he answered. "Right now, I want you to stay near people you trust as much as possible or see how those suitemates of yours will be if you've already paid for it."

I sighed, "I guess we'll have to do that because it has been paid for since Sam got back here the day that Aili had that break down at the store."

"Did you even think about this," he asked me.

I nodded, "I did think about this, but I didn't exactly think that we would run into troubles such as this," I answered. "I only thought that we'd have the paparazzi and the occasional intruder but nothing with people having SWAT teams come after us," I added as Cliff chuckled. "Remember we are just college student who is new to fame," I added once more as a smile threatened to form on my lips.

He nodded, "Right," he said, "you have any plans for today?"

I shook my head, "No, unless Sam has something planned, I was only thinking about visiting Aili," I answered, and he nodded.

Right then, the doors opened, "I apologize, but the King and Queen would like to see you, Liz," Sam said from the doorway.

I nodded, "Right," I said, "there's a plan," I said with a smile, "I'm sorry, sir, but it appears that I have to leave now. Take care, and I will see you some other time," I said, giving him a hug.

"It was good seeing you," Cliff said, returning the hug, "keep me informed with the possibility of war, and I'll do whatever I can to help."

I nodded, "Thank you, sir," I said as I walked out of the door, "so what's this meeting about?"

Sam looked grim as we walked down the hall, "I don't know, but they're asking to see the both of you," she answered before offering her hand. "Take my hand. You are unable to go to the throne room yourself; Rachel is taking Aili," she said as I grabbed it.

With a flash of light, I was in the throne room throwing up on a golden floor with someone else, "I guess Sam forgot to warn you about that," a voice said with a chuckle. "I made sure to warn your soulmate before this, but she still seemed off-guard with it," Rachel added as I wiped my mouth off.

"How can you prepare to throw up," I said. "Ever since this started, we have thrown up several times that it's getting tiring," I added as I walked and rubbed Aili's back as the goddess of healing held her hair. "Hey," I began, "it's okay. I'm here, and I'm pretty sure that we're not the only ones to throw up in the throne room."

As I finished, she wiped her mouth and straightened, then laughed, "You're right, it probably isn't," she said, giving me a tight hug. "I missed you," she said as I hugged her back just as tight.

As we separated, I looked her over, "Where's your cast," I asked since the only thing on her neck that would remind me of that attack was a scar.

"Rachel healed me a little quicker since she said that these circumstances were dire," she answered. I arched an eyebrow, also noticing my cast was gone as well.

"What are these circumstances," I asked her, and she shrugged

"The dire circumstances that brought you two here," a booming voice began making us turn our heads to the thrones surrounding us. More specifically, the throne that the voice came from. "Is war," the young man finished with a lightning bolt in his hand and dressed in golden medieval armor.
