Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

We sat in the car talking about the things that we would need to do once we got to the house.

"I can go shopping for food if there isn't any, while you unpack bags after we go throughout the house," Aili suggest once we were half an hour away

I nodded, "What do you want to do with places to sleep tonight, do you want to share the bed or have us sleep in separate rooms for the makeover?"

She cursed, "I forgot about the makeover," she said then thought for a minute, "let's sleep in a separate bed so we don't freak each other out about a stranger sleeping in the same bed. As an added point I think the makeover would be easier if we weren't fully clothed and I don't think you're ready for that," she said with a blush

I smiled, "To be honest I've never slept in a bed completely naked or even half-naked for that matter. It was either my mother, stepfather, grandmother or my father waking me up and I didn't want that embarrassment," I said with a shy smile

"My family always knocked on the door to wake me up, now they let me sleep until whenever," she said and I chuckled

"I would love that," I said and she smiled

"Well you got that most of the time when your classes were canceled," she said and then it was my turn to chuckle

"True but I also feel bad when I sleep for most of the day because that usually means time wasted to do things that I want," I explained and she nodded

"I understand that," she said, "That's why you usually saw me irritated when I slept past my alarm."

I chuckled, "If I ever slept through an alarm at home I would be yelled at six ways from Sunday," I said as Aili laughed. "I think I slept through an alarm once and when that happened my stepfather burst through the door yelling at me when I swore up and down that I didn't hear it."

"So that's why you always used your phone as an alarm even though you had an alarm clock," she asked and I smirked

"Well, which would you rather have," I began, "me turning off the alarm as soon as possible or have the constant beeping as I slowly climbed down the ladder just to turn off an alarm?"

"If you used the alarm clock I'm pretty sure I would be throwing things at you instead," she said and I laughed

"I wouldn't blame you but if you threw something that knocked me off the ladder, that would be another story," I said in between gasps of breath

Aili only rolled her eyes and kept driving, it wasn't long after that until we got to the house, "How is my mother letting the two of us live in a mansion," she asked dumbfounded. "How the hell does my family have the money for a mansion, to begin with?"

"Distant relations," I suggested as I started pulling things out of the back seat, "don't you have any distant family member?"

"Yeah but I didn't think they were rich," she said and I smiled

"I would give anything to be in communication with a rich family member," I said with a chuckle

"Even your soulmate," Aili asked teasingly and I glared at her

"Aside from my soulmate," I began, "I wouldn't give up family that I love," I finished then kissed her on the forehead before walking into the mansion

The mansion was big outside but it was even bigger inside, the entrance area had two staircases going up to a balcony on the inside that led to the different hallways for the second floor with an opening leading to a hallway having two rooms to the left and right with double doors leading to a backyard that also lead to a beach

"Damn," Aili breathed as I set the bags down by the door, "now this is a mansion."

"I'm going out on a limb and say that there's probably a third floor and a basement, each floor has at least one full bathroom and probably a half bath, the basement would be fully furnished, and probably six or seven bedrooms with one of two master bedrooms that both have full bathrooms in them," I said and she looked at me wide-eyed. "What, this looks like a YouTuber house, do you honestly think I'm wrong?"

"No, I'm just amazed because I haven't shown you the house description yet and you just described the house from the third floor down," she said stunned and I only shrugged

"I watched a lot of home improvement shows while growing up," I said, "you learn a lot from them."

She chuckled then we started walking around the mansion, we quickly found the two master bedrooms that were in here along with the basement, a hidden staircase that led to all of the floors including a hiding place for the both of us and found out that not only did we have the beach but we also had a pool and two living rooms and an outdoor cooking area

"Okay," Aili began once we finished unpacking and exploring, "luckily this place has food for us but I want to meet the family member that can afford this."

I threw myself onto one of the couches next to her, "I'll second that," I said as she quickly fell onto me. "But for now let's enjoy the time that we have together and get used to this building because I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be the first person who'll get lost in here."

She chuckled at that and then I started playing with her hair, "What room do you want for tonight?"

I thought for a minute, "I'll take one of the small rooms next to the bathroom on the second floor. Where will you be staying," I asked her

"I'll probably take one of the master bedrooms, probably the one on the third floor," she said and I nodded

"That sounds good, get used to a master bedroom on the first night, I think I might do that instead," I said. "I'm so used to being in an apartment-sized bedroom it threw me off the first time I slept in a bigger room by myself."

Aili chuckled, "Well then we should probably get dinner and get to bed before this makeover happens."

"You're right," I said, then I thought for a bit, "Wait will the makeover happen if we're still awake?"

"I don't think so," she said, "but I'd rather not stay up all night to find out," she said and I smiled

"I'll agree with that," I said, "let's go get some food before any of us fall asleep on here."

With a nod on my lap, Aili got up and shuffled to the kitchen and I soon followed her as my heart ached more for her presence. It will be a while before I get used to this but I still feel to see the government's point in this. Aili and I made spaghetti and meatballs as I surprised her with the fact that I knew how to cook. After that, we did the dishes together and I walked her up to the third-floor master bedroom

"Goodnight beautiful," I said and she smiled

"Goodnight," she said before rising on her tiptoes to kiss me, "see you in the morning."

With that she closed the door to her room, I walked down the hall making sure all lights and doors were locked before I went into my room and went to sleep with one thought on my mind as I looked at her name on my wrist.

Why would the government want to help everyone find their soulmates during a pandemic?
