Devanie's POV
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
It had been a week since we've seen Pryer's parents. They were long gone as Pryer's dad started family therapy for himself, and his mom had started preparing the company for her new arrival. Pryer's spirits went up since then and now I can focus on another thing I'm worried about.
He Feng.
I don't know where he went or how he's doing, I just want to know if he's okay. It's normal for him to pop in and out everywhere, but at the same time, he's never taken this long to come back. Did I do something so wrong that he's just left me for good? The least he could give was a goodbye.
It was the weekend and I was spending it shopping with Samantha, she was now at six months. "I'm so excited, I'm having a little girl!" She said as she picked up tiny baby shoes and clothes. I laughed at her excitement. These days she's been happier. I don't fully know what's going on with her and Fryday, but judging by her aura recently, they seem to be doing just fine.
"So how's your love life?" Samantha suddenly asked as she gushed at how small the baby bibs were."Well, a lot has happened and Pryer finally went back to his happy self. And long story short were in a relationship." I said plainly and she looked at me surprised."Wow, never life would turn out this way did you?" She said and laughed.
"How's He Feng? Any luck on finding him?"
I looked at the floor and tapped the heel off my shoe on the marble floor."Not yet, he hasn't come to school, and he isn't at the diner, I don't know where else he could've gone." I said and Samantha gave me a look of pity."I'm sure he'll turn up soon.
After a few more hours of shopping and eating random street food we decided to go home. Samantha didn't want to walk anymore so she got Fryday to pick her up, even though he was still in work hours he came to pick her up.
"Can you drop me off at the diner?"
Without question, Fryday had dropped me off at the diner as I had asked. The sun was going down and I was suddenly craving a milkshake. When I sat down there was a usual number of people around. A waitress had come up to me and taken my order. After a few minutes, the doors came bursting open and a boy flew in. I knew exactly who it was by the time I saw black hair.
In an instant, our eyes met and his face immediately turned guilty. All the emotions I had about worried him just made me angrier. He was fine he didn't need anyone to worry about him, I should've known. This is his personality.
"He Feng," I said calmly and he slowly turned his head towards me. He kept a calm aura, but he knew that I was upset, anyone would be if they were worried about someone who didn't even care in the first place."Where have you been? Do you like ditching me without a word? Is it laughable how much I worried about you? Do you even care?" I said angrily. There were so many things I wanted to ask him.
"Vanie, listen after that whole dating fiasco wit Pryer I decided to dip, I needed to clear my head. And that did take a while, but my heads finally going in the right direction." He said and gave me a warm smile. I looked at him with a disgusted look, "It's almost been a month, I've been trying to call you and text you, I even went to the diner to see if anyone has seen you anywhere. I was so worried that something might've happened to you, but you have the nerve to suddenly show up in front of me with a smile?"
He laughed like he didn't believe a word that was coming out of my mouth."Are you serious? I didn't know you cared that much Vanie, I'm sorry I put you through that, I was just in my head." He said as he grabbed my hands to try and hold them. I snatched them away and glared at him, "It seems that I still know nothing about you, I don't even know where you live, what's your favorite color, I know nothing, you're still a stranger to me." I said and his eyes looked visibly shocked.
"Don't think I don't know about you and Pryer, how you tried to break us apart so you could keep me for myself. You swore you knew what was best for me, but do you even know me at all?" I squinted my eyes and he chuckled again, "Of course I know you Vanie, I just wanted to keep you...safe."
I scoffed, "This whole time, I can't believe it, you're the real jerk He Feng. I don't want to see you again." I said and got up from the table, "Vanie wait! Hey Vanie, I said wait!" I ignored him yelling after me. I enjoyed the desperation in his tone when he yelled my name. I felt more lightweight after leaving that diner.
I never would've thought it would be like this, He Feng was the last person I would expect to do that to me. I can't believe I was so hung up on the fact that he was missing. He could've been put partying and watching his phone call with my ID number at the top. Goes to show how much he really cared about me.
He was never worth my time, to begin with.
