Devanie's POV

"I can't believe school's almost over."
I looked up at the tall building that was Goyer High. I glanced at Pryer who stared fondly at the building. It had been a few months since then. Time seemed to fly by. Samantha is about to have her baby soon, dad is almost finished on the road to recovery, and I'm about to finish high school in less than a week.
I looked at Voya and smiled as I watched her and Fia have an argument about clothes. Voya decided to cut her hair shorter as it was now in a pixie cut dyed light pink. I looked over at River and Noah, who had surprisingly become best friends since Christmas break. Leo was in his own world with his new girlfriend, Amber.
"Have you figured out what's gonna happen next?" I asked as I looked up at Pryer. He nodded his head, "I got a scholarship to go school and continue my boxing, what about you?" I made a thinking face and stared at a tree. I watched the leaves calmly move with the wind."I think I'll go to an art school and pursue a painting career." I said and he laughed slightly."What's so funny?"
I said as I squinted my eyes at him.
"Nothing, it's just it sounds just like you," He said and smiled brightly at me." I looked over at all the buses that were being loaded and all the people that were walking home. I think I can understand why Kani had gone out of her way to get to Jason, but regardless it was reckless. I get what people mean when they say they're head over heels.
"I'll see you tomorrow Devanie!" Voya yelled as she grabbed Fia's hand. He had an upset look on his face, he probably lost the argument. After a while, Voya started to show her personality to Fia more and it turns out that she wears the pants in the relationship. What she says goes.
Soon Leo and Amber had walked to the parking lot to his car and Noah and River had disappeared a long time ago. Pryer and I walked back to my house where my mom waited for us. Since everyone, except Kani and Jason, were home she made a big feast for everyone. My Dad looked happier seeing all his children grow up and be married off.
Samantha struggled to get to her chair so Fryday had to help her everywhere. She was due in less than a week and Fryday couldn't be happier."I just want to say that I am very proud of my family and even though Kani can't be here right now I am still very proud of her." My mom said and everyone clapped."And I'm very proud of you Devanie, now that you're all grown up and you have a gentleman that would stay by your side forever, I'm proud of the woman you have become." I put my hand over my heart to show her that I was thankful.
"Graduation day is in a few days, isn't it? Should we have a graduation party?" Safari said and my mom clapped hands together excitedly, "We'll definitely have one." Pryer said as he side-eyed me, I think he knew that I was going to say no.
After dinner mom went to talk to Samantha, probably to give her baby tips, I mean she did raise three children. Pryer and I were outside sitting on the front porch stairs. I sighed, I was satisfied with what had happened so far."I'm glad I'm with you," Pryer suddenly said and watched the sun go down.
"You mean you're glad you chased after me?" I asked and e laughed, "Yes I'm glad I chased after you Devie." I rolled my eyes and we both watched the sunset talking about random things. Like superheroes and milkshakes. Though this wasn't the end of us.
This is just the beginning of our story, it'll be a long story to tell, but not longer than Kani's.
I guess everyone finds the one at some point. I wonder if I had listened to He Feng that day would Pryer and I never end up together? Would I still be alone? Even in my twenties?
Whatever I don't want to think about it. Not if it'll leave me with unnecessary thoughts.
