"I could conquer the world if I set my mind to it.
Lucky for you, I lack motivation."

"What!? Why?"
He scratched the back of his head. "It seems they got a few signals from her pager so they searched her room and they found a few stolen files."
"Files on what?" I asked.
"Not files on what, files on who," he corrected me. "And the stolen files were yours."
I put my hand on my head. "Where is she now?"
"In the interrogation room."
I grabbed his hand. "Let's go."
We walked, actually ran, to the interrogation room. When we got there, we were stopped by none other than David who was coming out of the room.
"Slow down there, Luciana." he said raising his hands.
"Let me in. I want to talk to Miranda." I said, trying to push past him.
But he pushed me back. "You cannot go in."
An annoyed expression came over my face. "Why not? You, yourself had asked me to keep an eye on her and don't forget it was because of me that you found about the pager. If it weren't for me then you wouldn't have arrested her, so I should at least be allowed to see her."
"Not now, Luciana."
"Then when?" I questioned him, taking a step forward.
"All in good time." he said and walks away.
Now that he was gone I tried the door, but it wouldn't budge.
"Great, he locked it." I said, hitting the door.
I turned around and saw that Alex was looking confused. "Whoa, he seems different. I mean he's always like that to us but not to you. He likes you a lot more than us."
I ran my hand over my face. "I think something is wrong with David. He's been acting weird."
I thought about telling him about the note I found but then I realize what it meant.
Don't trust everyone you know.
Was that meant for David?
I already doubted him, but who else?
Alex?
Amber?
Who?
I was brought out of my train of thought by Alex snapping his fingers in front of my face.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?" I asked, straightening out my shirt, trying to pretend I didn't just space out.
"Are you okay? You've been too closed off lately. I miss my bestie." he said, making a pouty face.
"I just have a lot on my mind," I gave him a small smile. "And I'm tired."
He slings his arm over my shoulder. "Well then, let's get you to your room so you can have your beauty sleep."
It was quiet between us, as we walked back to my room. We exchanged our goodbyes at my door. I walked in, no intentions of sleeping.
I had to figure out who left the note.
I pulled the note out of my pocket, careful so as to not let it rip, flatten it out and placed it on my bed.
I decided to start by looking through the old notes I'd received before and compared the handwriting. I crouched by my desk and pulled the drawer out completely and carried it to my bed.
Getting comfortable with my pillows, I dumped all the notes that were in my drawer onto my lap. Picking one up, I unfolded it and placed it next to the other note and begin comparing.
I did this until I had looked through all the notes. It didn't have a match.
So whoever left this note had never sent a note to me before.
Awesome.
I stuffed all the notes back and put the drawer into it's original position. I glanced at my watch and saw that it was half past one in the night.
Hmmm, what should I do now?
Oh, I don't know, sleep probably? Like normal people do at night?
I should really stop answering my own questions. Especially in my head.
I shook my head and tried to focus on the important things.
Miranda had been arrested.
I should be happy about that right?
Then why did I feel like I was missing something?
I had to talk to her. Otherwise I couldn't sleep tonight.
Technically, I could sleep by using the pills.
Oh, shut up.
Miranda would have been escorted to a cell by now. And no one really guarded the prison cells around here because let's face it, the place is crawling with assassins and if anyone saw you creeping around you'd be shot instantly.
But the cells did have a lock.
And Amber was really good at picking locks. I could too, but she was better.
I got up and made my way to Amber's room and got in by picking her lock.
Told you I could do it.
I placed my hand on her mouth and her eyes shot open, trying to figure out who got into her room uninvited.
"Don't scream, it's me, Luciana."
She sighed, pushing my hand off. And then she goes back to sleep.
Seriously Amber?
I snuck into your room in the middle of the night to wake you but you just go to sleep again?
"Amber! Wake up!"
She made an incoherent sound but made no move to get up.
"Okay, I didn't want to do this but you leave me no choice."
I grabbed the edge of her blanket, pulled it off and turned on the lights.
"Uh! What do want Luce?!" she said, turning on to her stomach and burying her face in the pillows.
"Did you know they arrested Miranda?" I said, dropping the blanket on the ground.
She got up in a flash, as if I told her that we were under a zombie invasion.
"When? Why?"
"Why don't we go ask her ourselves?" I suggested.
A mischievous smile spread on her face. "Lead the way."
I walked out and waited for Amber to come out. I leant on the wall and turned my head to the side. I jumped back into the room and shut the door, motioning for Amber to be quiet.
David was in the hallway.
He was talking to someone.
I pressed my ear to the door and try to listen in. I could hear them but I couldn't make out what they were saying.
Dammit.
After a few minutes I opened the door and peeked out. Not seeing anyone, I walked out and Amber followed behind me.
I looked at her face and saw that she was about to ask what that was about so I started walking to the cells where the prisoners were kept and she followed behind me.
Once we were in front of the main door I tried the lock, it was open.
Huh, guess I didn't really need Amber.
Oh, well.
I walked in and saw that there were not many people in here, in fact, the only cell occupied was the one with Miranda.
I looked through the the bars and see that Miranda was asleep.
Am I gonna let her stay that way?
Hell no.
I kicked the door and she woke with a start.
I smiled. "Morning, sunshine."
