Denise called Harold in her office two days after meeting with his mother. She wanted Harold to be able to speak with his mother again because she felt that was the right thing to do. She wanted him to be happy, yet she knew Harold would kill her if he knew she had been in contact with his mother. So, she devised a plan. A plan she was sure would work.
Harold immediately rushed towards Denise's office when he was told she needed him. He knocked on the door and helped himself in when Denise answered. He got nearer to her and stood still when he was in front of her desk.
"I was told you were looking for me," he said.
"Yes, I was. I wanted to tell you to prepare yourself because you will be going out with me later in the day," Denise announced.
"Can I know where we are going, Miss?" Harold asked her.
"I can't tell you where we are going. But, you will know, once we get there.
Harold nodded. "Anything else you will like me to do for you?"
"Yes, I will like us to go to the port. Some of the goods I imported are here and I need to get all the paperwork done on it before they are released to me."
"Alright, Miss."
"We will be leaving in the next thirty minutes, so go get the car ready."
Harold left immediately and Denise began to sort out her work. Harold made sure the car was totally clean in the inside and sat in with the door opened. Denise was the kind of woman who hated to see the tiniest filth in her car. Even if she sees a bottle of half drank water in her car, she becomes uncomfortable.
Harold saw her approaching the car with her secretary who is also doubling as her personal assistant. The secretary was holding a file in her hand. When they got closer, Denise took the file and thanked her.
"So, cancel all my appointments for today because I am not coming back here. If it is important, forward the person to me, okay?" she said to the secretary.
"Yes ma'am."
"Alright then, see you later." Denise sat in the car and the secretary turned back to the office. Harold sat down and drove them away to the ports.
It took Denise about two hours to get all her paperwork done and her goods released to her. She was angry that she had been made to wait like that for something that could have been done for thirty minutes. They had wasted her time and she wanted to tell them off for that. But, she had other important matters to take care of. She was finally done and rushed out to meet Harold who was in the car waiting for her.
She sat in the car and asked her to drive her to The city beach resort.
"The city beach resort? Are you meeting someone there?"
"Do you remember I told you, we will be going out today? Well, that is where we are going. We have wasted enough time here already so we better hurry."
Harold frowned a bit but did as told. He drove off to the beach resort and took quick turns to avoid the massive traffic on the highway. They were finally at the beach resort. The place was very beautiful. The beach was very clean compared to other ones Harold had visited. The place looked very serene. A perfect place to relax.
They were beautiful sheds built around which looked like summer huts, where customers sat to enjoy the beautiful view of the sea. Denise dragged Harold with her to sit under one of the sheds. It was open and spacious. The sea breeze kind of made the place cold but Harold loved it.
"This place is beautiful. It feels very relaxing."
"Yes indeed."
"What are we doing here anyway? Are we meeting someone?" Harold queried again.
"Yes, we are. Harry. And oh, there she comes."
Harold turned to look at the direction Denise was looking at. That is when he saw the woman he did not think he would see anytime soon. His mother. All the colour from his face drained as the woman approached them. He quickly got up, anger was written all over his face.
"Why are you here? Who asked you to come here?" he asked. His voice was low because he did not want to attract attention to them.
Mrs. Sandy was elated when Denise told her of her plan to get Harold to talk to her. She was worried as well because Harold might not want to see her and that scared her so much. What if her son rejected her? What if he did not listen to her? It bothered her so much. She still decided to take the chance and speak with Harold. Maybe things might turn well and Harold might forgive her.
"I called her here, Harry. I arranged all of these so that you and your mother could talk and mend your broken relationship," Denise explained. She was also standing when Harold turned to her.
"If I knew this was the reason why you brought me here, I would not have agreed to come."
"I know. That is why I did not tell you. Harold, I think it is time you started to let go of the anger you have in your heart towards your mother and listen to her."
Harold shook his head, not believing what he was hearing. "Denise, I trusted you that is why I told you about my past. Why are you doing this to me?"
"Harold, please listen to me... " Mrs. Sandy tried to come in.
Harold sharply turned to her. "I said this to you before but I guess you were not listening. I don't want you near me. You are not my mother. My mother is dead."
Harold left the place fuming in anger. Denise quickly calmed the older woman down and followed Harold to stop him.
