Chapter 41 - XL

The battle was over when the Vigilants began their offensive. Their maces emitted brilliant aura, reducing the Umiras into lump of meats.

The fourth Vigilant named Lennon, started gathering ashes from the source core of the Umiras. Kzel noticed this and also began looting the fast decaying corpses. He also found out that the Mark of a Greater Reaper absorbed six source of existence since the Umiras do not have a soul.

"Quick! We must leave this place before the other Umiras learned that their brethrens were slain!" Sulic yelled, leading the way.

Kzel and Fabian followed the Vigilants. It was a long hike. Mud reduced their mobility and increased their effort but they kept going. Sulic who was in the lead, put out the fire on his torch as the dawn finally arrived and the lights of the two moons bid farewell.

Three hours passed, the party reached the Hall of the Vigilants. It was a huge wooden structure in the middle of a forest. When they went nearer, they can see smokes rising from the hall. Its walls were charred and the straw roof were still burning.

"What in Threndal's name happened?" Mornen dropped on his knees. Grief painted all over his face. Around the hall, corpses of Umiras and Vigilants littered the ground.

Just before the double door of the hall, five figure stood. When Sulic looked closer, he recognized them as his fellow brothers and sisters.

"Brother Sulic!" A young man greeted. Kzel can see a 'V' above his head.

'What can a player possibly profit in staying with this weak faction?' Kzel thought.

"How many are injured and still able, Masvi?" Sulic immediately inquired the young man.

>>Masvi, Lvl. 44(Fist of Threndal)<<

"There's only nine of us left. We already took care of the injured." Masvi answered with a sigh.

Kzel can see that the player Masvi has the highest level of this Circle of the Vigilants. Sulic was next who is level 39.

"You brought a new recruit!" Masvi noticed the fellow player and his mood brightened. "What's your name?"

Sulic gave Kzel a glare, hinting the Rzir that he must not reveal his identity as a chaos cultist before strolling away.

"I'm Kzel. Nice to meet you Masvi."

Masvi chuckled, "Ah! Sulic already mentioned my name."

Fortunately, Kzel was cautious and equipped the Scarf of Death that completely concealed all his presence including his mark, title and aura. One might not be able to sense him when he wanted to.

Kzel's thought earlier was answered when a Vigilant wrapped her arms around Masvi and started to giggle.

"Paula! Don't scare me like that!" Masvi innocently spoke followed by a laugh.

Kzel had to admit. She was beautiful. Especially her beyond average tits scraping Masvi's back. However, it started to annoy him how the two conversed.

Paula's eyes caught Kzel. She scrutinized him for a moment before turning her eyes back at Masvi. She originally wanted Masvi to introduce her to the newcomer but lost her interest.

"Dear Masvi! I hurt my knee!"

"Dear Masvi, can you please carry me."

"Paula is hurt."

"Paula is hungry."

It went on. Masvi complied to each and every word that came out of her mouth.

Masvi revealed a triumphant smile as if he was standing above his peers while Paula was wrapped around him.

'Bringer! Do we have to waste our time with this weaklings?' Fabian whispered. Luckily, he has yet to acquire his Chaos Mark and the unfamilliar Vigilants did not see him as a chaos cultist but assumed as a new recruit. Only if they looked directly into his soul will they be able to see that he's a servant of chaos.

'Hmm.' Kzel could see a potential profit in this dilemma of the Vigilants. He only needed the right timing.

'What if they turned on us?' Fabian protested. He did not have a good impression of the Vigilants. When he was younger, he was punished by two Vigilants for thievery. When, in fact, he was not stealing. He was just taking back what was stolen from him.

'Then we kill them all.' Kzel whispered back. He then brushed pass Masvi and Paula while Fabian hurriedly followed him.

"Wait!" Masvi called out, "We must initiate you two to the ritual of becoming a Vigilant!"

"Masvi!" Sulic's loud and authoritative voice echoed. "They are not here to join the Vigilant. They are guests."

"What!?"

Sulic glared at Kzel and Fabian for a moment that felt like eternity. He then retracted his eyes somewhere else and barked some orders before going inside the hall.

To show their sincerity even if they are guests, Kzel and Fabian helped in burying the dead. Masvi took this opportunity to rope them in. Even boasting his level and using his authority in the Circle of Vigilants.

"You should not bother with a low level like him, Masvi. Sulic might have found him on the road and took pity." Another player sitting beneath a tree stated. He did not even bother to grab a shovel and bury some of his fallen comrades.

Fabian did not even heard any words coming from the man. He was completely engrossed in digging. Digging was a hobby for him. He even dug one for his traitorous wife. Kzel, however, stared at the man for a second before continuing to work.

>>Player, Lvl. 38<<

Masvi wanted to scold the other player but held it in. He might accidentally spout the reason why they desperately needed more manpower. The Umiras might try to strike again and this time, their Hall of Vigilant might fall.

"If you're in desperate need of hands," Kzel spoke mainly to Masvi, "We will stay for two days."

Masvi was a bit shocked. He contemplated for a moment and nodded politely at Kzel. After burying the dead, he went straight to Sulic to ask why the two became their guests.

"They helped us defeat a pack of Umiras. Without them, we might be dead. That's all you need to know." Sulic answered sitting inside a silver circle dedicated solely for communing with Threndal. He was still the leader of the hall. But without Masvi's support, the other man named Carl would have challenged him for the claim. Thus, he was inclined to give some information to Masvi.

'A Lvl. 10 and 15 managed to fight Umiras? Interesting..' Masvi did not pursue the topic any further and excused himself.

Kzel requested for a room and was given one. It was already noon and he had been up all night but did not really needed rest. Rzirs do not often rest and when they do sleep, it will be for thousands of years before they wake up. Fabian instantly collapsed on the floor and started snoring.

A chaos energy appeared in between Kzel's hands. He started communing with the domain of chaos. The visions that appeared were mentally damaging. However, Kzel came out of it wiser. By understanding the truth can one climb up the ladder. His Chaos Cultivation rose up to Stage 3. He closed his eyes once again and dived back to the planes of chaos.

>>Player had entered a new world!<<

>>Adjusting player's language to Gaian tongue.<<

>>Player's level is converted from 115 to 55!<<

"The hell?" Glen was in disbelief that he spiraled back down to Lvl. 55. But when he checked his attributes, it was the same as before. After he saw the 110 points that can be distributed to his stats, his eyes bulged.

Lessi was also a bit stunned. She had 275 stat points.

"Be careful!" Lessi warned, "This world have a higher standard than Turran."

Around them were also batches of famous players. One that stood above most was Stinger from the Ricochet Guild. His obvious goal for this world transfer was to create a branch guild. However, after seeing the notifications--there's definitely a change of heart.

"Welcome adventurers!" A Knight of the Order equipped with a resplendent armor greeted on top of an elevated platform, overlooking the recently opened portal.

The crowd of players gasped after seeing the knight.

>>Knight of the Order, Lvl. 150<<

"Oh shit!"

"This is fucked up!"

"No one has yet to reach that level in Turran!"

Some of the players lamented that they were too eager and impatient in leaving Turran. Most were eager to prove themselves. They were top players back in Turran and eventually, will rise up in this new world.

"In Gaian tradition, we open a portal once in every five years and accommodate 20 top adventurers from another world." The knight continued, "As of right now, a crisis is slowly escalating and we might need your help. The Grand Knight of Mirath have his eyes on each and every one of you!"

'Grand Knight?' Lessi's eyes widened, 'Mirath?'
