Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Perhaps a break is in order.

"Clang!" Jamaal sprinted towards one of the golems and slashed his sword into its hardened frame. Resulting in the sword simply bouncing off effortlessly, not leaving even the slightest depression in its body.

However, this did not discourage Jamaal who glanced at his mana.

"I used up my mana too quickly. I need to start spending more of my stat points into intelligence." He sighed inwardly, turning his head south towards the worm he had previously injured.

"I have no chance against the other three... I might as well." He thought, barely dodging the golem's foot-attack, the debris from the attack cutting Jamaal.

"Still too weak," The pain pulsed, causing the boy to wince as he continued sprinting towards the worm.

"Eeh!" It let out its usual screech and charged forward, mouth open wide as it confidently prepared to gobble up this troublesome person and end this problematic situation.

[The system would like to say one thing, there is a way to heal up your health and mana, but you must go to level 5 to unlock the shop. However, when reaching level 4, you may gain the ability to sell items to the shop to earn system coins. The only way before that is to do quests. The host may look at the Quest Board for more details.] The system interrupted Jamaal's preparations, causing him to enter the mouth of the worm and nearly get consumed by the creature.

Blood began to pour out from his body as he held the mouth from shutting, the teeth shredding him up.

"NOT THE TIME! YOU WILL GET ME KILLED YOU GODDAMN DUMB SH** BAG!" He shouted, extremely angry at how he had nearly died.

[I...] The system spoke in first-person for the first time, something that had never happened before. However, Jamaal was too busy to notice this, looking around to figure out a way to get out before he lost his already fading strength.

"System, is there a way out of this, do you have an attack tip or something?" Jamaal asked quickly, sweat dropping from his burrowing brow.

The system was silent for a while. It then hesitantly answered.

[The system... Can not help.]

Jamaal sighed, glancing at his mana for a seemingly long moment.

[1/8]

It was then when Jamaal had a rash and brazen idea. It would either go two ways. Either he managed to wait long enough for his mana to go up one more time and summon a fireball or he would die. The latter being more likely.

"Hey, system? What is the rate of mana regeneration?" Jamaal asked quickly, his arms becoming more and more painful, the mouth slowly but surely shutting.

[Your mana regenerates every 10 minutes, you are currently 5 minutes through your second point regen.] The system replied, seemingly having gone back to its emotionless state.

"5 minutes? I can handle this pain, I've gone through stuff like this before. I can do it again." Jamaal took a deep breath and gathered up his will and tried to keep resisting.

"Agh..." He groaned, trying hard to resist the gradual build-up of pressure upon his arms.

"How much time left?" He asked, begging there to be only a minute left.

[4 minutes.]

Jamaal cursed, eyes shutting as he waited for the extremely slow timer to finish.

"AHHH!" He screamed, the teeth impaling even deeper into his hands, blood flowing out as he felt his bones begin to crack and fragment, darkness slowly covering his vision.

"No! I will not give in." He shook his head, pushing with all his might as tears started to fall out in the overbearing pain.

[2 minutes left.] The system said, helping Jamaal stay strong and push forward.

He would stand, he would win, he can win, and will.

[...2/8 Mana.]

"BOOM!" The boy flew out of the mouth, blood, teeth, flesh and scales from the creature came out alongside him.

About a mile away, there was a loud crash as Jamaal hit the ground, blood coming out from his mouth as he glanced at his health.

[10/210]

"I barely... Survived huh," He thought slowly, his head turning towards the distant landscape as his vision darkened.

[Ding! You have defeated a Giant Earthworm! You have gained 60 Exp.]

[Ding! Due to defeating the master of the golems, the two golems have disintegrated into their former materials. You have earned 100 Exp for this."

[Ding! You have levelled up to level 4! You have earned five stat points and now can sell items to the shop!]

[Ding! You are now fully healed!]

Jamaal visibly returned to a healthier figure, his body healing as cuts closed and bruises disappeared. Aside from the teeth which had impaled different parts of his body, the boy was fine, yet mental trauma still stayed.

[The host will be logged out from the continent to recover, you are to rest and rebuild your mental stability. You will be allowed to log in 5 days later.] The system suddenly said, causing the boy to speak out.

"Wait! No!" He shouted, struggling to get up as he began to break into a long spree of coughing. The land around him fragmenting into pieces, cold and silent, the eternal blackness finally taking over him.

[??? - ???]

"Mind telling me what happened?" A cold chilling voice erupted from the throne as a cloaked figure sat upon it, glaring at the two people standing respectfully in front of him.

They were General Lanesson and Ambassador Chesmil.

"My liege, there was a massive disturbance in The Outer Eldritch Woods. The Goblin horde was summoned in full size for an unknown reason, causing many of the existing species to run away or be killed and then feasted upon, the people that live there are now scared. Most of them have now lost their occupations as hunters. They will soon suffer from starvation due to Winter just occurring a month ago.

There was a slight pause before the figure spoke.

"Investigate the disturbance, ignore these peasants."

"But..." Ambassador Chesmil said quickly, though immediately shutting up when the person on the throne put one hand up.

"Silence! I shall not care about a couple hundred of weak, insignificant imbeciles! You will leave now. Begone!" He adjourned the hearing and soon, the two subjects hurried out, leaving the person to sit on the throne once again.
