Jamaal woke up, turning to the side and peeking at the windows, he wasn't sleepy this time, his body was energetic with him having had enough sleep.
Soon, he had gotten up and was downstairs, ready for school. He grabbed some toast, buttered it up, and left the house while eating. Glancing around at the busy roads, he made sure to stay safe and be careful.
The boy's school was only a 10 minutes walk away so Jamaal wouldn't take long. The school's name was Lismore Public High School and housed one and a half thousand students. So it was a large school.
After crossing the last main road, Jamaal had reached the school, yawning as he entered through the gates.
Students were already walking around chatting, playing, things teenagers that age would do.
The boy soon reached a group of people who were having a laugh and lightly coughed, a grin appearing as he looked at them.
"How ya all doing?" He asked, looking at his four friends: Indus, James, Hussein and William.
"Oh, Jamaal, I'm fine! What about you?" James glanced at him and smiled.
"I'm fine too," The boy glanced at the other three who looked at him and said that they were good too.
They then began to chat, talking about school-work, sports and just general occurrences in their life. Making Jamaal glad, he had held these conversations before, though it was always with the burden of the nightmare. Now without the trauma at the back of his head, it was much more enjoyable so the boy could finally relax and have fun.
After a few minutes, the bell sounded. Everyone beginning to slowly stream into the school, heading to their respective classes.
Jamaal and a friend, Indus were walking to their own class, discussing a project that the two of them were partaking in.
This project consisted of a park being constructed in a special simulation. This simulation would then begin to calculate the revenue and profit of the park over a period of time which would then count towards points for the class.
This project was for business which was a school subject Jamaal enjoyed a lot.
Finally, after climbing two floors via stairs, they arrived at the class, sitting down in their seats as they waited for the teacher to appear.
Two minutes later, he did, immediately clearing his throat and speaking.
"Good morning class! Today we will talk about innovation, what benefits and disadvantages it has given in the past and what influences it will give up on the future..." The teacher began to speak, glancing at all his students. He had taught them for a while now and he had big hopes for their future.
The teacher knew for a fact that a few had the talents and hard work to hit big in the business industry, something that would forever be growing as the world grew too.
In fact, he had eyes upon some of them and if they ever continued with their business studies, he would wholeheartedly give them his support and blessings. Perhaps also a few connections that they could use later in their lives.
Jamaal meanwhile was listening carefully at what the teacher was saying, writing down notes on a black and white notepad he had.
He has always enjoyed business as a subject, it was one of his favourites. The way the world ran on money and how it could be used for benefits yet also losses was interesting too.
As time went on, Jamaal began to feel more and more like a normal high school student. Aside from the nightmare then dreams part. Actually, perhaps that was a good thing, being different could sometimes give more pros than cons and Jamaal hoped that it would be like that.
Soon enough, the class finished and the teen left, hurrying to his other classes. The day was going quickly for the boy, making him glad because although he liked school, it could get pretty boring at times.
Some classes interested Jamaal as much as Business did, English and Biology being part of them. They all seemed so fun, or interesting to the boy and he did great in them so he would keep them throughout his studies.
At lunch, the crew went down into town and went to a bakery, Jamaal grabbing two custard doughnuts and a bottle of water. It was a small meal for lunch but he did normally eat much so it didn't bother him.
Quickly, the last class ended and the crew left the school grounds, gradually separating to head to their own homes.
In the end, Jamaal was left on his own, deep in thought.
He wasn't thinking about the dream world or anything, rather, he was planning on finishing off the remaining schoolwork he had for the week.
That is what he did and soon, he was upstairs working away.
Once the teen finished working, he leaned back into his chair and began to spin his pen with his fingers, staring blankly into space as he thought of some precious memories he had made with his family. They were nice to remember and always helped him move forward.
He then got up, putting everything away as he walked into the bathroom and washed his face and brushed his teeth. He was going to sleep early today as he didn't want to wake up tired tomorrow. After finishing up everything in the bathroom he wiped his face with a towel and went to bed, wishing for a good day tomorrow.
