Chapter 27 - Peaked-Out Concentration to Kill

(Denzel's POV):

The fight immediately began with a quick strike.

Blinking towards an enemy, I instantly closed the gap between an assassin and me. After which I pushed my left fist into the abdomen of an assassin with ludicrous speed.

Being unable to react, one assassin was launched towards the wall of one of the houses, created a hole, and blew up into particles.

Simple amplification of strength. This is inexplicably overpowered for some reason.

The other assassins started making their moves with their weapons.

They had flintlock pistols, muskets, katanas from traveling merchants, and one of them.

"Arkhalis?"

That's a rare weapon there, this will be troublesome.

Arkhalis is the weapon that allows the person to swing endlessly with an inexhaustible supply of stamina.

So basically, continuous strikes. A team of quick eliminations, let's see how they improvise fighting with an incomplete team.

"Transweapon Tech! Duality!"

Immediately, the man with the arkhalis starts slashing endlessly on my face.

I converted Omnitelum into a pair of short swords and set myself in a defensive stance immediately.

Three strikes in a split second. That's very annoying considering how much I have to block in that amount of time.

As such I received multiple cuts, just from the first few seconds. Fighting against them alone is barely possible, since I'm already in a disadvantage, I'll be in trouble in no time.

However, I'm not weak enough to lose from something like that.

"This is quite troublesome."

Just as I said that I felt a severe hunch on my instincts as the man with the katana immediately teleported to my left side.

"!!!"

The enemy slashed upwards, a long cut was made along my left arm, ranging from the elbow towards just under my shoulder.

"Crap."

I dashed backwards to get some room to breathe. After that short while of breathing, my instincts finally kicked in.

A total of eight rapid strikes will be sent by the man with the Arkhalis blade. Those gun men will shoot the moment he closes in the position. The guy with the katana will flicker again later down the line to my right this time.

All this information came to my head instantly.

"Vajra!"

Changing my sword on my left hand into half of Vajra, I blocked all strikes and made a counterattack that can't be parried.

A thrust with my sword on my right hand and a push using my shield not only stopped him on his path, but also prevented him to attack further. A loud sound of clashing metal resounded in front of me. As expected, he blocked my sword flawlessly.

He simply turned his palm to redirect his sword to be able to fully block mine. And because I couldn't move right now, multiple bullets enter my range of absolute perception.

So far, my range to perceive everything clearly is within five meters. So to think that I have high speed bullets coming towards me at that close range.

"Frozen wall!"

Within that instant a wall of ice is made to block all bullets.

The assassin with the Arkhalis stepped back and started drinking a potion.

Before I could prevent that, the man with the katana already made his move which I already knew about.

"Second Blade."

While changing to a short sword in my left hand, I immediately moved my left arm to the back, setting a perfect angle to block the katana that was swung from above.

"Hail Burst!"

Multiple pieces of ice was generated behind my sight which was sent towards the enemy side immediately.

Most ice cubes hit one assassin to my right.

The other ice particles that are thrown are mostly deflected by the Arkhalis holder. Definitely a cunning weapon, however, he sustained a few hits which could give me a chance.

I changed the short sword on my right hand into a gauntlet that coats my whole right arm.

I swung it to my right to hit and knock the man with the katana away from me.

While being launched towards the wall, I hurled a ball of ice that is set to explode and encase a target in ice on hit. It's basically a ranged frozen coffin for targets at a distance.

However, the three attacked once again. This time, their main attacker was the man with an Arkhalis.

"Snake Blades."

Changing both weapons into snake blades I twirled around making a large area of effect to hit targets.

I'm basically a slow bey-blade but, I would at least distance my enemies where I could see all of them.

After stopping and glaring at the distanced enemies, I took out a bottle in which I have kept for a month. An expired regeneration potion. I checked where the assassin which I hit towards a wall. Seeing him frozen, I threw the bottle with my strength to break and splash the frozen target.

Expired potions are a thing in this game, so I abused the expired potions to use them for combat. These expired potions have various effects that could range from simple poisoning to actually corroding off the body of a person. All I know that these kinds of potions will give either no effect or its reverse to the maximum severity.

So tossing that to the frozen player will not only corrode both the ice, but also the player inside.

I crafted a golden watch a few weeks ago to check the time, so I would be able to determine the correct time for the day.

"Time Check: 9:32 AM, exactly the minute I had in mind."

The whole body was corroded and is now irreversible, so the player blasted into multiple particles.

"Two down, three left."

Before I knew it, a bullet passed through and destroyed my left ear.

When I turned around to check which gunman shot me.

The man with two flintlock pistols is in pointblank range with his right leg aiming for my open wound.

I was slow enough to be unable to block the attack, because the moment my hand moved to block the kick. The foot blinked from my sight to the left side of my head.

"!!!"

Using his leg and my unbalanced momentum, he struck me down and made a follow up by pulling himself up and rotating himself to land an axe kick.

In which he did since the leg arrived from a two meter height to my back in 0.05 seconds.

"Khhaa!"

Vomiting blood all over the ground I checked my status for a second.

<700/5000 Health>

<400/500 Energy>

<948/2500 Mana>

Great, their weapons also bring hell huh? I'd understand if I have Bleeding III and Poisoned. However, to think that I would get the broken armor, time lagged and corrupted effect this early. This means that these guys know a place for perfected experience farming. I can't identify their level neither, which means that they know a lot on this game.

Before the next kick that would make me barf a lot of blood again happened, a small, gray, and circular object rolled towards me.

"!!!"

!..Grenade!

Using Earth magic I pushed up the grenade high enough to make me feel unaffected.

"Flash Freeze."

Cold smoke scattered within the area immediately.. During that short time I sweep kicked the first gunman and eliminated him by forming a large terra spike aiming to his chest while he's falling down.

"Time Check: 9:33 AM, three down."

After confirming the kill, I immediately took out a bottle that contained glittering colorless liquid from my magic storage. That mentioned bottle is Michael's Holy Potion that can heal and cure everything in the maximum time of ten seconds.

While waiting for that ten second gap, I checked the area on where my targets specifically are standing on. After getting the rough estimation I created multiple small ice balls that I will storm around this position later.

The smoke disappeared at the 6th second mark of the holy water.

With the simple formula of inputting hundreds of small ice balls in a small area. After adding gravity magic to keep them levitated, simply putting rampant wind magic... Voila! a hailstorm is brewed!

The musketeer already aimed for me but before he could shoot, one ice ball hit the musket and made its holder drop it.

The man with an Arkhalis though, is still deflecting everything. Next target will be that guy who just lost his weapon.

"Frozen Spike!"

A large spike made out of ice materialized and penetrated the whole body of the musketeer, instantly bursting into particles after the death is confirmed.

"Time Check: 9:34 AM, last one!"

Now the 10 second mark has hit for the holy water to fully heal me.

"Round 2?"

"Quite the strong one..." - ???

"Yeah, to think that you guys have a teleporter as a gunman. You guys should step up the game."

The hailstorm is still on yet, the last assassin makes his way towards me while deflecting everything. Perfect time to use this I guess.

I took out a gem that was given by Seymour last night. He told me that I should use this if I seriously needed it. To maximize the usage of this time slowing device.

Yes, it's a time slowing device, created by Karl to maintain the clock speed of the caster. It eats up the person's mana immediately and can slow down time for a while.

It was taken from my Dark Mode which can freeze time for ten seconds. However, Karl was only able to make time slowed down for a while depending on the consumed mana.

Anyways, I can only use this device thrice. Which means I have two uses left before this breaks completely.

"Sometimes, your opponent is just more creative than you."

I simply ran towards the slowed down assassin and parried his sword on purpose.

I can technically see the speed of the arkhalis which is actually trying to catch up despite the time is slowed by ninety-five percent.

It's still quite fast so I can do some parrying practices.

Sounds of clashing metal resound within the area. I wonder what this would look like from an outsider?

After being blocked for attacking from above, I slipped my sword under his body and cut of his right arm immediately.

I hit the sword hard enough to flick it to a different and inaccessible spot from the assassin.

"I'm not interested on your last words for this world but."

Pointing the sword at him, the time continued to flow naturally.

"You think I wou-" - ???

I cut off his head since I don't really want to hear any kind of bullshit.

"Time Check: 9:35 AM, all targets eliminated."

"Denzel!" - Rika

Turning around, I saw Rika rushing on to me with tears on her eyes. Ah! I forgot I just exit combat.

My vision becomes a lot hazier than usual as I pass out before finishing my sentence.

As my vision went black I checked my health which is currently at ten and counting down due to bleeding.
