Chapter 45 - The Brother

When he had first arrived in my class, my first thought was: what?

Why did King Ernest assign him here?

I understood that my charm magic probably wore off, but even so, the damage from his previous actions—during the time that he was still charmed—should've been too severe for the man to fix, and he shouldn't have been able to realize that he was charmed.

However, the king will still try his best to mend things, and out of all the plans that I had thought the king would use, it had never crossed my mind that he would send one of his most excellent sons to Loen.

… Did Ernest figure out something?

From the corner of my eye, I saw Cassian Hall conversing calmly with our classmates, not sparing a glance my way—though I was sure he saw me.

From the looks of it, Cassian did not know the truth about me, or else he wouldn't be so calm.

The clockwork of my brain spun rapidly, and there was a piece of me that wanted to charm the prince and obtain the answers to my questions forcefully, but I suppressed the urge.

It isn't the time to be reckless… besides, this is my territory. I have the advantage here.

And so I decided to wait for Cassian to make the first move.

It didn't matter anyway, since I had enough time to do so, and I was in no hurry to find other sources of entertainment.

But… little did I know that this plan would be revised very soon.

"Hey, hey! Did you hear about that new transfer student from the south that just arrived today?"

"Oh, him! Of course! It's said that he's a major contender for being the next king of Marude, and although it's not as great as Loen, that country isn't THAT bad. Besides, isn't he Lancera's half-brother?!"

"Kyaaaaaaa!! Indeed, you can tell they're blood-related. Sigh, he's so beautiful~ On the SSS level that both Lancera and Asura are on… Maybe it's a trend among high nobles?"

"Hmm, now that you mention it… they would look perfect together, won't they? I mean, Asura won't marry the crown prince anymore, and the age difference is too much for the other high nobles of the kingdom… and it's not as if she could marry into a different species. So… wouldn't a marriage between Lancera's brother and Asura be nice?"

"That southern country is a little lacking, though…"

"Yeah, but it's still the most prosperous human-ruled country after Loen. Besides, if Asura marries a higher race, such as the magicians, they might not treat her the way she deserves!"

"True…"

Upon hearing this conversation in the hallway, I stopped dead in my tracks.

The words 'marriage,' 'Lancera's brother,' and 'perfect together' kept echoing in my mind, and for a second, I lost my ability to think.
