Walking through the halls of the school, I could feel numerous glances gazing at me discreetly—or at least they were trying to be discreet.
But I could feel that they came with harmless intentions and were really merely curious about the new transfer student. It was a strange feeling, seeing the curious expressions instead of the disdain and pity the people of the palace showed.
Hmm, how would an average person react upon experiencing this? I found myself thinking. It wasn't exactly pleasant to have others paying attention to every move, especially when you were a person of secrets.
And it wasn't as if I could just charm everyone and go unnoticed like that. This environment was too unfamiliar, and if there were by chance any magicians or wizards who recognized my magic, the situation would become dire.
In the end, I would have to be patient and wait. Wait for my existence to be slowly integrated into the school and wait for people to lower their guards around me. Only then can I try using magic.
The new, stiff academy uniform made me even stuffier, and I reached up to casually pull at my collar, carrying all the textbooks that were sent over to me this morning with my left hand.
In this place, I would be no different from anyone else, wearing the same uncomfortable uniforms, taking the same classes, eating the same food, living in the same environment… and essentially, I'll be an ordinary student.
Here, no one will care about my background since there were abundant children who hailed from royalty here.
I'll just bide my days quietly and peacefully, waiting for the schemes I planned in the South to act up.
As for the missions King Ernest assigned to me?
He asked me to befriend a few particular noble children, and report to him their movements via letters through a secret channel.
Well, I'll just make a half-hearted attempt, and he can't say anything, being so far away. Besides, he's long given up on any hope of me containing some sort of power, and my mission was an insignificant one anyway.
But just as I was thinking this, a felt a force suddenly crash into me, sending me reeling onto the pale marbled floors.
Furrowing my eyebrows, I glanced at the person who bumped into me, just in time to see her quickly standing up from the ground, brushing her long blonde curls back.
Patting the dust off her custom uniform, the girl looked straight at me with an apologetic smile. "Ah! I'm so sorry! Can you stand?" She held her hand towards me.
Looking into her sparkling sapphire eyes, I was suddenly stunned into a daze.
This…
After a few seconds of trying to comprehend what I was seeing, my lips subconsciously curled up as I fought the urge to laugh in amusement.
Looks like my plan for leading a normal student life just sunk into the water.
