Chereads / When The Goddess Fell In Love / Chapter 64 - Chapter 64

Chapter 64 - Chapter 64

"Alexander?" Darius looked off to the side confused as to how someone had information on Alexander when the man told him from his own mouth he was looking for traitors plotting against him. This woman was looking for a death wish for trying to lie to him but he'll hear her out. "Let her in," he called back to the guard.

Catherine was more curious to see this woman who claimed to know something about Alexander. 'Is she the one they were saying he went to see on a date?' She wondered. If she was, Catherine wasn't going to allow her to leave this castle.

The siblings both anticipated the woman who came to Darius. Catherine smiled when she saw the woman had some age on her and surely Alexander wouldn't be with anyone like this. Darius on the other couldn't put together how a woman like this would know anything about Alexander.

"Your highness," Wendy bowed to the king as she entered the king's bedroom. His bedroom wasn't the ideal place she expected to meet him. Had things changed in the palace where the kings would speak to their subjects in a proper room?

"Stand," Darius said.

"Princess," Wendy acknowledged the king's sister.

"You said you had some information about my general Alexander. You must know," Darius went off to the side to get his own sword. "I am not one for jokes and lies. What is it that you risked your life to say?"

"Your highness, I am a woman blessed to see and know things more than any other humans cannot. Upon my journey around this kingdom, I have gained knowledge of many things. Yesterday, I happened to come across your general with a woman-"

"Who was she?" Catherine asked finding that detail to be very important.

"Catherine," Darius scolded his sister for interrupting the woman. So much for her putting her childish behavior behind her. It didn't last for more than two days. "Go on."

Wendy nodded and started to carry on with her story, "The woman he was with is one all humans should avoid. She is the most dangerous being inside of this kingdom and has caused a great war thousands of years ago-"

"Thousands of years ago? This story is madness! Do you want us to believe that Alexander is walking around with someone who should be dead by now? Not even dead but she shouldn't even be remembered? Is that what you are telling us?" Catherine laughed because of this nonsense.

Darius didn't find it to be nonsense like his sister did.

"Princess, there are many people in this day and age who have been alive for many years and they won't die anytime soon. They are immortal and it is only thanks to the weapons which fell from the sky that they can be killed. This woman is one of those people. Your father and the kings before him have been trying to kill her but never knew where to find her. She is the Goddess of the night, Artemis," Wendy revealed.

Darius's eyes bulged hearing the name any king should know. The Goddess had the power to wipe out an entire army marching at her doorstep. "Where is she?"

Wendy pointed out at the forest which the king had a clear view. "She is tied to that forest and cannot leave for too long. She has the bracelet which could command anyone on your general and he must obey her commands or die."

"Are you playing tricks on me? I saw my general yesterday," Darius became suspicious of this woman. He believed there was something in the forest but how could he trust this woman? And an average person should not know about a Goddess being in a forest or point out what the woman looked like. He forbade everyone from ever mentioning Gods.

"She must be playing with you. The goddess is sneaky and wants to have revenge against a king. It doesn't matter if the king she wants to go after is long dead. She is going to come after you using the help of your general. Luckily, there is still a chance to save him if we can get the bracelet off of him. I would not come all of this way just to lie to you," Wendy dropped to the floor to bow to the king. "Please, believe me, your highness."

Catherine stood up from her seat not believing the woman and her stories. "Are you really falling for her tricks brother? She should be killed for bringing this nonsense to the palace. We should have her hung on display for the kingdom to see their fate if they bring nonsense like this to us."

"Silence. I need to think about this."

Any other day Darius would have the women imprisoned for bringing this to him but he was confused. One, he had seen Alexander in his room yesterday but now that he thought about it, it didn't make sense why Alexander would have visited the palace so openly when he was supposed to be hiding and investigating nobles. Two, he was certain something powerful was in the forest long before this woman showed up and she spoke of the bracelet he had been looking for. She seemed to have good knowledge as she claimed and he intended to use her.

"I will look into this claim of Alexander and the goddess," he announced his decision.
