Chapter 5 - Alexander

Finishing up her meal, Maëlys decided she needed to thoroughly look around the house which was really a mansion.

"Claire, I'm finished. Please clear the table for me thank you."

Her first destination was the office on the ground floor. Being greeted by a bright, light feminine office, she walked in and stepped on the shiny hardwood floor. Walking to the left she made her way to the plush beige loveseat with burgundy throw pillows that was pushed up against the warm white wall and spread her toes in the warm burgundy rug before it.

She couldn't help the relaxed sigh that made its way out of her due to how comfortable the sofa is. She could only elongate herself in the chair and and lie down.

'I like that desk. The cherry wood really complements the overall feel of the space. And that office chair. I really want to sit in it. But this sofa is so comfy...' Sigh 'I like those art pieces. I'll have to contact that interior designer whenever I have a new space. That fireplace is really strategically placed, I wonder who came up with the architecture of this place.'

For the next fifteen minutes, Maëlys spent it in the office in the comfy loveseat not moving an inch until she got too curious about the rest of the house she could only reluctantly get up. Room after room, door after door. She could only watch on in awe as each room had it's own unique charm to it. She couldn't even bring herself to think about the millions of dollars it would take to acquire all this luxury.

All in all, the rooms add up to twelve bedrooms, fifteen bathrooms, one gaming lounge, two bars, one big pool, a sauna room, one office, one kitchen, a gym and a movie room.

"I had money before my parents died but not this much." She couldn't help but mumble aloud. As Maëlys, she's never worked hard a day in her life. Her father took care of everything. From housing to vacations. She only had to ask and she would receive. She only recently picked up a hobby of modeling that she apparently enjoyed a lot. She was also doing online classes for an MBA to follow in her father's footsteps and create her own business from scratch. She didn't have to worry about her father's business because her elder brother would be the one inheriting that part of the family legacy.

By this time it was time for dinner so she made her way towards the dining room and started having the dinner that was prepared by the staff. Having finishing up dinner, she went back to her room and decided she needed to search the web for some information she was lacking.

"Ucelyll Walker"

The first thing she searched for was her grandmother. The results shouldn't have shocked her but they did.

"Mrs Ucelyll Walker, big time matriarch of the Walker empire has been shaken by the loss of her granddaughter Karen Walker. With the previous loss of her son to cancer and her daughter-in-law to a car accident, she admonishes the murderers that stabbed her granddaughter to death and robbed her of everything she had on her at that time. Her second son, Clarence Walker also shows his grief for the loss of his only niece. With him having to take over the family business due to his elder brother's death, he is extremely troubled wondering what it is that is happening to his family. Mrs Ucelyll Walker in turn has decided to pass on Karen Walker's inheritance to her next granddaughter, Jessica Walker, daughter of Clarence Walker when the now sixteen years old teen reaches eighteen."

CRASH!!!

The laptop flew across the room and knocked straight into the wall. Never to be turned on again.

Maëlys was seething in rage on what she read. She couldn't be more enraged even if she wanted to be.

"So that is how it is huh?! That's how it is!! Fine, no problem! All this time. All this TIME!! It's OK. Everything is fine." Trembling in rage Maëlys made her way out the door after putting on her workout outfit. She decided to take an evening jog around the neighborhood hoping that the crisp Saturday evening air will help her to calm down.

Around half an hour to forty five minutes into her jog, she met up with someone going in the same direction she was heading.

"Maëlys?" A familiar voice said her name. Turning to look at the person that spoke, she couldn't hide the shock on her face once she registered who the one who called her was.

"Oh! Hey John, what are you doing here?"

"Well I live here. Number five." Looking around she realised she was indeed before house number five and he just came out of his house. Dressed in a grey tank top that accentuated his broad shoulders and strong arms and black shorts with a pair of black and white Nike sneakers, she realised he was dressed in exercise gear.

"Oh. Well it's good seeing you again. I'm gonna get going."

"Hold up, why don't I run you back to your place? It's getting pretty dark out."

"Yeah well, this is a secure neighborhood. I'm sure I can make it home without getting bitten or something."

"I insist. I'm a gentleman. Chivalry isn't dead."

"Ok. I'll make you take me home only if you tell me your real name. As I said before, you don't look like a John or anything remotely close to that."

"Ok fine. It's Alexander."

"So Alex it is."
